What Kind Of Crypto-Billionaire Are You Going To Be?

avatar

Didn't you realize that you are going to be a billionaire from cryptocurrency? Well that might be a bit of a stretch for many. Not all are going to be billionaires from their crypto activities.

That said, it is highly likely that there are a lot of millionaires created from this industry. We are in such the early stages and the numbers, overall, can get very large. This mean people will have opportunities to earn vast sums through their creation, innovation, and engagement.

The question is what kind of crypto-billionaire (millionaire) are you going to be?

Source

We see a lot of wealthy people in the world today. Of course, many of them are fabulous individuals. They are very pleasant to be around while also doing a lot of good with their money.

Then there are the not so good ones. These are the miserly ones who live by the principle "enough is never enough". They are the ones who treat people poorly simply because they are in a different economic class. We see entitlement and a "better than" attitude towards everyone.

In short, these people are run by greed and, relatively speaking, do little to help others. They might right a check to a charity or host a fundraising event to help their egos. Yet, when it comes down to it, they will do little to assist the average person.

Obviously, if vast fortunes are going to be made off cryptocurrency and digital assets, it makes sense to ask this question. Since there is, in my opinion, a great likelihood that people get extremely wealthy, which category are they going to fit into?

We already see those who fall into either category. There are people here who, to them, it is only about what they get out of it. Nothing else matters but the ROI. It is an open field and they are here to take as much as they can out of the system.

Then there are those who truly are about helping others. They might have a lot, or not much, the size of the account is not relevant. Instead of coming from a place of pure greed, they have other motives. They want to see things grow and change.

So, that really cuts down to the core of the issue: is someone here strictly for the money or are there other things driving one?

Source

Those here for the former, will tend to operate similar to those we see promoted in the media. They are on television, earn big paychecks, yet are basically complete jerks in many instances. Reports come out how they are awful to work for, have friends that behave in a similar manner, and look down upon everyone else.

Essentially, being here is no different than entering the stock market or any other investment/revenue vehicle. The goal is to make as much money as possible.

Then there is the later of those two categories. We see many who are not driven solely by the money. Obviously, this is an important feature since, until something major changes, we are in a system that is monetary in nature. Thus, it is a necessity in life.

However, that does not have to be the main motivator. We can see how there is an opportunity to truly change things for billions of people. As accounts grow, especially on Hive, the ability to affect others from around the world only increases.

When we are dealing with monetized upvotes, the ability to make an impact increases with one's holdings. The same is true for development. Is one coding only to make a boatload of money or is it to help others change their lives? Of course, the ideal situation is where both take place.

We often see breakthroughs from start ups that can truly change something about the world. However, there usually comes a day when the technology is bought out by a major corporation willing to write a big check. This sets the development team for life but helps to feed the behemoths we see in the corporate world. They either shelve the technology if it is a threat to them or integrate it into their operations, further insulating them from competition.

We saw this enough over the years to know what kind of system this ends up with. Presently, much of the economic activity is controlled by Wall Street. This has created a situation where only a certain few are benefitting. Another way of looking at it as their form of "circle jerking". Everything operates in their closed ecosystem.

Source

Things are transitioning from scarcity to abundance. Our entire economic model is build upon the former. Now, with cryptocurrency, NFTs, and other forms of digital assets, we see abundance forming. There are few limits to what can be created. Instead of fighting over control of limited resources, we are dealing with an arena where there are few limits. This requires a completely different mindset.

Naturally, many make the mistake of approaching with the same entitlement mindset. Sadly, we do not mostly see this from those with resources, yet the exact opposite. It is those who show up with nothing, contributed zero, and put in no engagement, who feel they should have their content rewarded (or bought). When they do not get their expectations met, they get upset and blast the system.

Again, even without means, it is the same mindset: the only thing that matters is what they can get out of it.

Do you think their behavior would be any different if they had the resources?

Not likely considering they are still approaching things with the identical mindset that is presently corrupting our world. In a system designed by takers, there is nothing to do but take oneself. It is very difficult to operate in any other manner or else one is going to get swallowed up. There are a lot of vultures out there.

The same is true within cryptocurrency as we know. We see the cons and exit scams. It is a blight on all that is taking place. Unfortunately, this it the behavior we must deal with.

Yet, the advantage is we can begin to change that. Each of us can look at the question in the title and ask ourselves that. Give it some consideration. If the outcome is set, financial abundance is coming your way, how are you going to operate when you have those resources?

The answer is that you will likely operate the same way you do now. If your sole motivation is to make as much money as humanly possible, then the behavior exhibited will reveal that. Down the road, when that point is reached, the motivation will probably not change. After all, as the saying goes, a leopard does not change its spots.

Let us look at Bitcoin. There were early adopters who are very wealthy now. The Bitcoin millionaire is not uncommon. However, many of those early people were not driven by the idea of becoming wealthy. To them, there was something much bigger. They were advocates for something different that was happening. When it came to marketing, there was not department to handle that. Instead, they were the ones out there promoting, supporting, and trying to help Bitcoin however they could.

Source

Today, we have major institutions entering the arena and buying large amounts of Bitcoin. They do not care about it. In this instance, it is simply a way to make a lot of money. To major corporations, this is nothing more than an investment vehicle.

Honestly, do you think PayPal would support cryptocurrency if they couldn't take a percentage of each transaction> Of course not. Their goal is not to promote crypto but, rather, to make as much money as they can.

In this regard, it is easy to see the differences in mindset.

So where do each of us fall? Presently, we might not be living in financial abundance, yet if we remain dedicated and active, it will come. Thus, we need to decide today, what kind of Billionaires/Millionaires are we going to be?

It is best to decide this now so we can get practicing upon how we are going to be. As we see, it is not easy to flip the switch and change once the money starts to flow in.

Ah but if you hit on just one, that is worth the other losses.

That is the VC mindset anyway.

True that! And it's the mindset I would have. Just saying that as someone very passionate about the sector, I wouldn't mind it if I lost most of the investment as long as it contributed something to the effort of furthering our capabilities and understanding in space, and as long as I felt that it was a fulfilling journey.

at some point that is the thing i think that drive a big company to get a hand into crypto. they are thinking to control the holding of bitcoin with almost seems to be limitless money for their own gain called fees. or simply because they just want a piece of cake for this fast growing industry.

At least we can ride the waves they make, pushing the crypto while we thriving with other abundance crypto project out there. who know we can see millionaire developer by making crypto starts up that really can help people.

You point out the drawback to Bitcoin in this instance, the limited supply.

With other crypto, the supply is not limited. In fact, we can keep creating more crypto projects that generate more wealth for others.

The network effect is all that is needed. Where the communities are, that is the most important.

I probably won't be a millionaire because i lack the drive to keep working hard at a point far below the first billion.

Their will be people with entrepreneurial spirit and visionary goals, but most whales will be type a personalities. I think that is fine, as long as the little guys get their share. That's what crypto is about in the end.

We have Browsers and search engines paying their users for the ad revenue they generate. We have game that allow people to own their ingame-items and trade them.

The philosophy of empowering the little guy is omnipresent in crypto and hopefully at least most millionaires will be nice. :)

I disagree with the part where you say most people wouldn't change most people have reason behind chasing money. Speaking for my self crypto is a means to an end. Which is being able to start a family (financially) I would love to have kids but I cannot afford that atm. Ideally my plan would be to make enough passive income from crypto / Stocks to be able to live comfortably in Portugal. Super cheap country 25K a years and you can have a great life here. Then start a family without having to worry about money

I disagree with the part where you say most people wouldn't change most people have reason behind chasing money.

Using personal antidotes tends not to be reflective of what is going on. You seem like you have sound reasoning for entering crypto and establishing a financial case. As stated in the article, we cannot get away from the fact we are in a monetary system and it is required. As I can tell you from experience, kids are expensive so I understand where you are coming from.

However, that is a far cry from the motivation we see in many sectors of society. There are those who are still looking for more no matter what their income/wealth level. Ironically, it isn't even the super wealthy who do this but the step below. The top billionaires tend to be more interested in building than simply doing things for the money.

That said, I met enough wealthy people in my life to stand by the statement.

I always said, "If I win the lottery, I will just keep on working. Pay off my debt and work a job that I like. Been there and done that. I stopped working in 2015, yet I still work everyday. I work on things I like to work on. Trading, hobbies, music, travel, and meeting people. I am busier than I was when I worked!
So what kind of billionaire will I be?
Paper money is constantly in flux. When I have billions, it will surely be because the dollar has lost what little purchasing power it had in 2021. I suppose I will take a ride to the local McDonald's and buy a twelve million dollar Big Mac combo and bring it home for lunch. Pay my eighty nine million dollar electric bill when it comes. I will continue living life as I do now.

Depends on how long it takes for the previous commentator to earn a billion. The real value of all fiat currencies is in a slow annual decline by design.

The people who believed in Bitcoin also believed in the idea of Decentralization. Blockchain tech promotes decentralized distribution of money as well which is quite amazing. It's like 'give more and get more'

Personally I am not driven by Money but fun & learning. Money is an important factor too. Gotta pay the bills. Once I am in a position to support myself and my family, all I am going to do is give a lot more - in terms of wealth & knowledge. That's the kind of a Crypto Millionaire I aspire to be one day.

Up until recently, I had doubts that I would ever be a millionaire. I was too far behind. Lately, looking at the numbers, and thanks to crypto, it is a distinct possibility that I could very well reach the milestone. However, I have a nagging realization that by the time I might be a millionaire, $1 Million won't be worth much.

Having said that, I often hear from multi-millionaires that making the first million was the most difficult part. But, now that the possibility of being a millionaire is in sight, the first Billion will be the most difficult part. I think my needs will be met having reached the first million. After that, I would continue building for sport more than anything.

You do make very good points. A person with a net worth of $1,000 is the same person with a net worth of $1,000,000. Though with the addition of those zeros comes a great deal more influence.

Some people do change over time although it is a rarity. Core values normally remain the same for the most part.

What type of billionaire will I be? One that surrounds myself with advisers that disagree with everything I say. In that way I could make informed decisions on how to best use wealth and influence in a good way.

Our core values at least regarding money are determined by genetic factors as well as the social class we're born into. Barring some sort of neurological damage, they do not change over a lifetime.

It's hard to imagine what kind of a billionaire I would be. I'd probably move to a tax haven in order to be able to decide for myself what kind of charitable work some of my money would be put to. I'd probably invest in technologies I considered having potential for profit and social good. Medical would be a large arena.

This is really a challenge to us as users of this blockchain. This confirms that the future is now. Whatever the respective level we are today, our input will mostly determine our resultant output in years to come. This leaves us with lots of work by our side as individuals because it takes character and discipline to build wealth while contributing to the growth of others for a stable financial ecosystem. So in my own opinion, i think it pays to be an impactful and a dedicated crypto billionaire/millionaire as a user and this will require more work and mutual cooperation and support between users irrespective of our race, tribe, culture and religion.

Passing it on is so important. It is not easy to hang in there in spite of the desire to slack off. Nevertheless, consistent activity is what leads to the outcome.

As you said, the input today equals the output in the future.

ha, I'm already a millionaire! The important question is which kind of millionaire am I?... a grain of salt millionaire? a doge coin millionaire?... we still think in terms of fiat currency too much. But then again it currently is still the dominant way of exchanging goods and services which I guess is something that crypto is already changing.

There is not much you can do but I don't think I'll be a billionaire. As long as I can live out the rest of my life comfortably I will be content. Of course this means I got to work a bit harder to fill up my bags.

As for VISA, they just want money. Its obvious that most people just want a trusted medium for exchange and until we have good trustworthy fee-less alternatives, they won't be going away.

I have always said, if I were to win the lottery (say the mega-millions that just paid out 500+ million), my main goal would be to set up some form of grant or charitable organization that would be able to take care of people. I'd like to think the same would be true with crypto. If I ever make that much. I don't really see myself in the half a billion slot. If I were, I would get the majority of my money into some kind of interest bearing account and then use the annual interest to live off of and to support the trust. I'd also like to think I would move some into crypto (or keep it in crypto I guess) and increase my LEO and Hive holdings. I want to be able to give some big upvote. I want to change people's lives that way or at least make their day a little brighter!

I would give this some deeper thought and come up with post later today.

However, I am majorly motivated to anything because of my family. The goal is give those who love a better life and the only way I can do that is being the best I can and I try to do that everyday.

I really don't know what I will do with millions of dollars if I have it. Maybe when I get to the point I will figure out. I really don't need that much to live a fulfilled live so I don't really care if I came a millionaire.

Entitlement with regards to cryptocurrency funding is a really bad strategy in the long run too... If someone is able to accrue a nest egg in crypto somehow without contributing or working too hard, they won't have the skills to invest that money or to make more of it later on.

I think Hive is one of the best places for rewarding work beyond fintech and programming -- writers, artists, etc -- thanks to its curation model. If someone gets a few upvotes and becomes complacent, they're doomed. But if they use a few early upvotes as a source of inspiration -- as pressure to be better, to be worthy of the votes - then it can be a source of more creative growth.

Ideally, in my mind, someone with a lot of money would enjoy it to some extent but also consider it a great responsibility, the old spiderman "with great power comes great responsibility" thing

If someone gets a few upvotes and becomes complacent, they're doomed.

I agree with this. Consistency is vital. We need to see the activity over a long period of time before it all adds up.

Yet over time, our accounts can grow which means that one's upvote value increases. Then we are passing around a greater amount of money to each person we upvote.

It all builds on all ends.

Even though the purpose of some big companies is to make money out of crypto, they at the same time help crypto to grow and also create a lot of publicity for crypto e.g. Tesla buying Bitcoin even reached us here in South Africa on the headlines.
(I heard about Steem through people who wanted to help me, before then I new nothing about crypto, incidentally those people are not on Steem or Hive any longer. I also tried to introduce a number of people to crypto with a very low success rate, but more people are becoming interested now)

Hard yes to all of this. I try and support other people and projects that I think are good. One of the things that excites me about this community is not only that I can potentially earn a living, but that I can help others do so as well. I get just as excited when my vote value goes up as I do when the value of the coins in my wallet goes up. I want us ALL to make it.
Those people who are just here to take, generally don't stick around long. I mean if they started off wealthy and bought a big stake, maybe they stay, but the little fish who come in and start bitching because they didn't become a millionaire on their imagined schedule tend to turn everyone off and get even less attention, then leave. The price going up may attract more of them, but their trajectory is the same. Ironically, they are often the ones screaming that it's all a scam, when those of us who have been plugging along for a long time are still happily here.

I think a lot of it depends on how you got there. Did you "earn" your first million? Did you get lucky? Did you inherit it? Did you get it by taking big risks? Or did you methodically build it from the ground up? For me, I'm not sure what I'll be. I haven't taken a single penny out of crypto in four years so it's done nothing for my current lifestyle. I DO like the idea of being able to splash down Toruk votes. lol That sounds fun. I also like spreading the word to new people and changing lives. Might be fun to go on a "mission" trip to a remote community and set up a place for people to learn how to get involved. I could also see myself going into the inner cities of this country and bringing it there. I really feel like Hive has the potential to be a fundamental cornerstone to the entire crypto market. A "city on a hill" so to speak.

A very interesting topic. As I said to you earlier, for us to truly enter an "Age of Abundance", that abundance has to be available to everyone. There are many, many places that would need help, and an equal amount of ways to provide that help.

That said, I'm pretty sure I'm a few years away yet. For right now, I'm a grinder. Just keeping my head down trying to do the little things everyday that make the big things happen without me noticing. Once it becomes more "real" I'll have to see how my perspective changes and go from there.

The way some like to flaunt around here makes me think they wouldn't last two minutes out on the streets without getting rolled.

Those walkers in their fancy pants, too cool to pay attention to the rest of the world, glued to their phones, not realizing their face is glowing bright like a beacon, until someone snatches their light.

I've never been a fan of the type who only gives to look good. So what if that big brand now uses less plastic but wants to tell everyone by showing animals struggling in waste, then claiming they're helping the environment. Or those big donations to help a group in need, was just a fancy way to save on taxes.

Man I just want to wake up and live.

From my point of view, poverty will always exist, because overcoming it requires developing the kind of mindset and action that most people are unwilling to achieve.

If I became a billionaire, of course I would help as many people as possible with my money, with all the love in the world, in the best way and with the best intention, but I would always be clear about how things are.

And it would give me my tastes, luxuries and everything what I need too; so, In other words, I would never feel guilty for being rich and because most people are not and never will be, because I think each person must take responsibility for their finances as much as for their own lives.

In any case, it is a very interesting subject from my point of view. Everything I express in this comment is at least what I think right now on the subject, it does not mean that I cannot change my mind about it in the future. Your post is as always very interesting, my friend. Excellent topic and interesting your analysis and opinion of the matter. Greetings!
