The Impact Of Multi-Layers On Hive And How It Develops

Hive is a multi-layered animal. Here is where we see a great deal of power come from. Impact is not singular in nature.

There are a number of things taking place at the same time which can really push things forward. In the last couple days, we received a few updates that exemplify how this works.

It is important that we keep sharing information such as this. Many get caught up looking at what is in front of them. However, as we will see, there are usually a number of things in play, all of which are disconnected on the surface yet do have interaction. It is through these handshakes that we see cooperation emerging.

In this article we will discuss the specific situation that we are dealing with and tie it to the larger concepts here on Hive.

Communities Getting An Upgrade

We just got an article that explains what is being done at the base layer regarding communities. This is a feature of the blockchain that really has enormous potential. When we think of online interaction, communities are something that is commonplace.

Of course, when dealing with tokenization, we see how this can put them on steroids. It also completely changes the nature of what they are, as we will see shortly.

Communities are being upgraded to include greater moderation. While everything is posted to the database, front ends have the option of showing what they desire. This is now going to be extended to communities.

Part present a community is set up and anyone can post to it. The same goes for commenting. The organizer or moderators of it have little control in this regard.

With the upgrade, we are going to see new levels added:

  • Communities type 2, aka journal where everyone can comment but only members can post.
  • Communities type 3, aka council where only members can comment or post.

This clearly shows how we are looking at a serious upgrade in terms of what the community can do and who is allowed access. Right now that is a fair bit of tag spamming that takes place as people try to get rewards from many different communities. This is likely something that will get worse as the third part of this article is implemented.

So basically there will be three types of communities:

  1. Anyone can post or comment
  2. Members post, anyone comments
  3. Only members can post or comment

This is in alignment with how most platforms operate their communities. They have the tools to determine who is allowed to post in them.

Leo Rebrand

Leofinance did a rebrand, changing the name to InLeo. This is, however, more than just a name change.

It is a shift in the focus of the platform. Instead of focusing upon finance, business, or cryptocurrency, it is now a general use front end. People can post whatever topic is of interest to them.

This means the front end is utilizing the community feature a great deal more. In fact, the finance part of the equation was moved down to the community level. It is no different than the muffin baking community.

Here we see another interface that is feeding into Hive's community feature. Anyone on Leo is able to set up a community, which is resident at the base layer. Other applications are able to pull the data and have their users engage in that community, just like any other base layer activity. Here we see another level of expansion.

Now we have a pending upgrade to the features of communities along with one of the more active front ends promoting the idea of community posting (and engagement).

Tokenized Communities

Here is the third layer we will discuss.

This will come about in a much different way as a result of the VSC sidechain being developed. Here is a smart contract platform that will be available to everyone. The key to tokenization is providing average users with the ability to generate their tokens quickly and in an easy, inexpensive manner.

Tokenization is communities on steroids. This opens up the opportunity for a community to be transformed to a economy. We often discuss the idea of the circular economy on Hive. A part of this is comprised of communities building their own. Essentially, it is the micro feeding into the macro.

It is also where the work being done at the base layer and the changes made is crucial.

As more communities tokenize, the incentive for people to try and spam increases. We know how cryptocurrency is filled with the mindset of people cashing the hot token. Hell, that is markets in general.

We can foresee a time when communities will start to develop in a way the market notices. If the token starts to move, many are tempted to simply spam the community to try and get a few rewards.

Having the capability to control who can post and comment will go a long way in removing that incentive.

In Conclusion

Here is an example of how the focus of three separate teams has an impact on a single component. Communities is going to get a supercharge from these three steps forward.

This is also an isolated case of something we see happening all the time. Anything that is done at the base layer affects everything that is built upon it. When applications do something to incorporate a feature or enhance it in some way, that has a ripple effect across the network.

Here is how we get exponential impact. It is not a singular action causing linear moves. Each action has an effect on the others. Leo shifting focus towards general communities is going to be affected by the upgrades at the blockchain level.

Of course, with tokenization, everything changes.

To me, this is where the concept of ecosystem comes in. Like any organic system, there are seemingly disconnected parts evolving in their individual ways. Using the forest example, the trees do their thing without regard to the small rodents.

However, each has an impact on the other. Nobody would say anything within a forest is operating in isolation. The trees provide shelter and shade while the root system draws nourishment. Insects become food for reptiles, which also feed small rodents.

We see how the ecosystem forms and expands. A forest can start as a clear field of overgrown grass. Over time, the different aspects develop to the point where other organisms move in.

Hive is an organic system. We see the tentacles in many different areas. Nothing is operating in isolation and the disconnection is an illusion. All that is taking place is connected, just like in the forest.

The example here is just one of hundreds that is taking place simultaneously.

The effect of multi-layer on Hive and its development is nicely detailed in your post. Thanks for sharing a nice topic.

This is great! Hoping the see more updates in the soonest future. I guess we will then use the inleo tag but leofinance is still there when posting in the community.

May this ecosystem. Thrive, survive and grow!

Leothreads already moved to Inleo and what I think that its a positive shift towards enriching something that would enlarge the calibre of topics and user's interaction.

This would be vital for the long term growth upon a system which is gradually evolving and turning into a better form day by day.

But I am finding some problems regarding adding image from photo archive while posting long form contents, it is happening from a few months of time. Hope this fixes soon and get to see thr project retains success.

Technical difficulties please stand by.

Bugs are a way of life for developers. We non techie people are learning that first hand.

The fact that leofinance now allows other posts rather than just finance or money related is a good development. Also, separating who can post as well as comment in a community is also a good idea as it will show who is really a part of the community and wants the growth of the community rather than being a passerby.

The fact that any community on Hive set up at the base layer can be accessed now through Leo.

Wow, that's cool and very useful indeed! Thank you for mentioning it! Needless to say, Leo is the one of the most if not the most active and prosperous community here on HIVE! Best regards once again!

Very well said! HIVE is very interconnected and beautiful given the inclusion of so many (sub-)communities in one decentralised larger community. And it will keep getting better, so do I hope and think! Best regards!

Awesome post, @taskmaster4450! Love the idea of Hive evolving like an ecosystem with all the new updates and layers interacting and boosting each other. The future of communities with these upgrades and tokenization looks bright and promising. Excited to see how it all unfolds!”
