Inspiration And Changing Standpoint

avatar

Anything we do consistently over time becomes a habit. To me, habits are like structures that we build in order to do certain things with little to no mental effort. This is good as unnecessary thinking can be counterproductive to the task at hand. I think most people prefer to do their work undisturbed.

This one pointed focus on a task can be a path towards mastery and engaging the flow state. It's always an inspiring sight to see artists fully immersed in their work like nothing else exists. There's a dimension to it.

Of course, inner inspiration is seemingly not under our control. It comes and goes like the wind. But on the outside, there are many places and things to draw inspiration from. Many of the things we see around us were mere thoughts at one point in time.

I don't think there's a way to cultivate inspiration to be always available to us to tap into whenever we want to.

The fact that it requires personal effort on our part to engage it when it is not around gives us a glimpse into its mechanism. Perhaps, it is a passive principle that's in need of an active impulse.

Multiple Ways, Same Destination

Life often seems less meaningful without inspiration. But on the flip side, lack of inspiration can be an opportunity to explore different perspectives and possibilities. Sometimes, changing our standpoint can reveal hidden aspects of reality that we were not aware of before.

To me, inspiration is not a fixed state of mind, but a dynamic process of discovery and creation. It is not something that we have or don’t have, but something that we do or don’t do. By just being open and curious, we can invite inspiration into our lives and use it as a catalyst for growth and transformation.

I know it doesn't seem easy or simple. They say curiosity kills the cat and being open makes us vulnerable. But how about a practical perspective that takes it one step at a time?

Seek out new experiences and challenges

Anything that simulates creativity is welcomed here. The interesting thing is that we're naturally curious since there's so much to discover about life. But I guess a few bad experiences were enough to remove this tendency from us.

Time to look beyond these bad experiences and re-cultivate a curious attitude. Seeking out new experiences and challenges can lead to inspiring discoveries.

Being around inspiring people

I don't think we can keep a closed attitude around people who are inspiring, especially those who share our passions and values.

We will be inclined to interact with them and bounce off ideas. And by resonance, our closed attitude would gradually fade away like how night gives way to day.

When it comes to inspiration, an open attitude trumps a closed one by a huge margin.

In Closing

Inspiration is not something we wait for, but something we create and cultivate. Despite it not being entirely under our control.

Reconciling the difference can be done through seeing inspiration as a journey and not a destination. Yes, the journey is ours to take but the outcome is not decided by us.

I find that most times for me, inspiration is synonymous to motivation. You don’t have it always, but you can create it. Especially by cultivating a habit from which it sprouts.

Yes, they're closely linked. Sometimes, I take the path of motivation to reach inspiration. I think that's the perspective to have about it, actively creating it rather than waiting for it. There isn't much sense in waiting anyway.

I love every point of yours.
We got inspired by many things but the way we digest them differs.

Exactly, there are many ways to get inspired to keep doing the things we want/need to do. But we have to create it and not wait for it to find us.

Inspirations come and go like you said but for the times they come if we use them well, they become of great benefit to us.
They are great propellers of life honestly.

That's a really weird but truth dimension of inspiration you explored .
Sometimes inspiration just looks like it streamlined our thoughts to particular side of life, hence, lacking inspirations once in a while can also help us discover several areas.

You really did justice to this topic 👍

There are days when the inspiration is not from within even if I want to snap out of it sooner it just doesn't happen as I wish.
What tends to work for me is being around inspiring people, that is where the spark comes from sometimes and digitally Hive is where I draw inspiration from as I see people working at their goals consistently, some sharing stories that make me realize am not the only one going through a rough time.

I usually find inspiration from people who have done things and then it can motivate me to do something.

That's great! People who have done things show us that we can do it.

Although some people see inspiration as something that comes when they're not thinking it or expecting it, but more often than none, it comes easily when we are working for it or expecting it.
Just imagine someone that's looking for what to write, if he doesn't fight to get inspired, he'd remain there.

Nice one boss

Exactly, I often look at it that way too. If you're thirsty for water, you can't sit and wait for it. You have to go and look for it! I think this is the aspect of inspiration that we often forget about.

Inspiration is more like a mental state of mind that boost an individual creativity, depending on your occupation or the area you need inspiration I believe it can be created at will like you stated.

For someone like me I realise I find myself writing poems when I'm in pain or in sorrowful state, then I realise that what is common when I'm in pain is that I'm in an emotional state. So whenever I feel like writing poems but I don't feel inspired to, I listen to emotional songs and I find my self in that state of mind that inspires me to write poems

Trying other stuff when someone is not inspired can be difficult in the sense that, sometimes inspiration can have a selective effect on a particular action but sometimes it might be general. An individual might be unwilling to do anything at all due to lack of inspiration

That's exactly it! When we're emotionally off balance, inspiration naturally comes to us and we find the words flowing out of us painting a picture of what we may be experiencing. I also do a similar thing to get into that state of inspiration, mine is reading a few pages from a book that means so much to me. It works most of the time.

I think part of the reasons why we get out of this state is because different things moves us. And sometimes, what we expect to achieve from the things that moved us doesn't end up becoming reality like the way we want it to be. So we're left to be 'moody' for awhile and do nothing.

Your second paragraph got me thinking, I guess the reason why we lack inspiration and get demotivated is because our inability to manage our expectations, the moment things don't go out way, we prefer to opt out.

Thanks for the wise words

Yes, sometimes I think that's the reason. It can be a good break as we tend to come back a fresh perspective.

One key way I stay inspired is by consuming other people's content. This gives me creative ideas I end up exploring and I find myself inspired most days.

Indeed! Our mind will have more 'material' to play with and pull inspiration from. Makes the creativity process more exciting too. I find myself easily getting inspired by out of ordinary content.

When I started my farm venture, I really set my mind that I'll visit for 21days to make it a habit and indeed, it works. Even with cultivating inspiration, it works. I've tried it.

Great ideas you have presented.

Yes, it is said that it takes 21 days to form a habit. I think during that process we also learn a lot about cultivating inspiration. Glad that it works for you!

I usually get motivation and inspiration from myself. Most times when I'm tired and feel like I can't do anything anymore, I will look back at where I'm coming from and around me knowing full well that if I don't do it, and also help myself, there's no one to help me do it.
Inspirations come and go, sometimes you're up sometimes you're tired.

That's a great way to bring back inspiration, rewinding on the path we've taken and how far we've come or have to go brings a lot of motivation that we can utilise to keep pushing forward. I think it's good that it comes and go, we're better able to appreciate it when it comes again.

Yes!! The value of a thing is not known until it's lost. But for inspiration, it comes and goes and then comes again, so we grab it whenever it comes. That's the best part
