THE NOT-SO-GOOD STATE OF ELECTRICITY SUPPLY IN MY LOCATION
Power supply has been a big part of our lives and has been so helpful in aiding productively. On way or the other, whatever we have to do has a link to power supply. If for nothing else, we need it to run our fans and bulbs and very importantly, -for people like myself, who have become addicted to the media world- our phones.

Quite a number of times, I have written that I am almost always on my phone. No electricity supply means that this would be cut short.
For about two days, there's been no power supply. I can tell you for certain that the whole atmosphere has been clumsy. I've had to use my laptop and power bank to charge my phone until they both gave up. "...NEPA, please give us light. This house is nothing without it," I've murmured a number of times.
What is a house without electricity tho? Almost every home appliance or gadget needs it to function. A home, without it would be dull and very gloomy. Most houseworks would have to be manual and that is very draining.
Yet, It's no news that Nigeria supplies power to sister countries yet, runs on fuel for hers. Lol.
Nigeria has quite a number of generators and dams to provide steady electricity to her citizens yet we barely get to enjoy this resource.
And the power distribution is not same for every location. Mine for example, is not something to be glad about. We have the supply run from 9am - 1pm and from 8pm - 8am. Not bad, yeah? But I find it encouraging that I get to use it all through the night. That way, the running fans help ward off mosquitoes and the heat.
It's different for my friends and family living in different regions of the state. Some get a good number of hours supply. For others, it's fair; for others, it's poor. Then there's those who have not seen the break in year(s). Quite disturbing.
Those who enjoy the supply a bit are those who use the prepaid meter. They get good supply, cause, why not? Their money does the speaking.
For payments, we run the normal NEPA-bills where the service providers issue you a bill which tallies with the amount of electricity you've consumed in a month. And yourself, and others, -who share same meter- split up the bill and pay. Don't even think the sum will be very paltry after the split. It won't.
Presently, the bill is fair. I get to pay 2000naira, sometimes 3000naira. And considering the hours of light I get each day. It's not too bad for me. My only concern sometimes, is that I don't own too many appliances, and it can be disturbing that j get to pay equal bill who run too many of those.
Yet, because I know the total electricity we all consume is proportional to the bill we are asked to pay each month, I try to manage the electricity from my end by turning off switches and the few appliances I own, when not in use(with hope that my bill either reduces or doesn't go up the next month).
In this new month though, based on the new implementation, by the new government, there will be a forty percent tariff on electricity. This means I'd have to pay more than the normal.
And so, I've been thinking, how about I get some new appliances and stuff my home with, so, atleast, I can get value for my money. What do you reason?

The only thing which is important is having light to power your fans at night, cause mosquitoes now are very very wild.
And about this question, it seems a good enough thing to do. You get to enjoy your appliances which make life easier and still get value for your bill's worth.

I can see that the power supply is fair in your area and the bill is not overwhelming compared to others I have seen.
