Follow The Tipster - Wednesday, 21st June, 2023

Hello again one and all,

Wednesday is going to be another scorcher here in the UK, and with plenty of racing action to throw into the mix as Royal Ascot moves into day 2. Once again the majority of the NAPsters (48 of the 54) are waging battle with their selections there, with at least one selection in each race. The carnage of losers will be in the 5:00pm race - Royal Hunt Cup (Heritage Handicap) - where 21 of the tipsters are backing 9 of the 30 runner field. Most backed is Perotto being the choice of 5 tipsters, and Dunum with 4 opting for him.

There are also five other meetings taking place, Wexford (IRE), Worcester, Hamilton, Necastle and Ripon, where it may be less difficult to predict a winner (although it's never easy - as the tipsters will prove later on).

Recap - Tuesday, 20th June, 2023

We returned to being in the black (albeit, only just) following yesterday's winning selection, with just one-third of the month remaining.

Broke cleanly from the stalls, staying to the outside of the field, whilst tracking the leading quartet. Cruised into third place coming around the turn for home, around 5f out. Continued making headway to pressure the leader, breaking clear before the final furlong marker. Ran on impressively, to finish 3.75 lengths clear, maintaining his unbeaten status this year (4 from 4 starts so far, and now 5 from last 5 starts back to last October).

Tipsters Standings

Back-to back winners for Lee Sobot maintains his 1 win lead at the top of the pile, with Jon Freeman still in close attendance following his own winner yesterday. A third of the month remains and an impressive gaggle of 6 tipsters boast a strike rate of 40% plus for the month.

Won her first two outings either side of a 176 day last year, over 7f and 8f. Not so impressive finishing 7th on her last trip at Naas - back at the 7f trip on that day, returning after another long break.

I was tempted to go with Jon Freeman's choice as well, priced currently at 8-1, but that runner Dunum is in the above mentioned 5:00pm race and even with 6 places being paid seems a tad too risky.

Cheeky Extra Bet

I'm testing out a new tipping service over the next few weeks, which is likey to be the feature of a new blog series. It did cost me £0.99p for the 28 day trial, and if he continues to hit at the rate he was when he was trialling himself for the tipping service (around 50% strike rate) that fee should be easily recovered.

Renegade Racing had 1 winner from his 4 selections yesterday, but not the one I was hoping for the most. Short priced favourite was the sole winner, winning comfortably by 12 lengths, despite a couple of errors. As for the one I thought had the best chance, Asadna, rolled home 9th seemingly one paced from about 2f out.

Today, he's put forward a slightly different bet - a win double - 2 selections, both of whom have to be victorious to be a winning bet, often more profitable than singles, but also riskier due to the requirement to win both legs. So we'll see how it goes. He advised 1.25 pts win at odds when he published the tip of 3.93, I've taken 1.5 pts win at odds of 3.00, with a small difference in the returns if it comes in.
