Follow The Tipster - Sunday, 18th June, 2023

Hello again one and all,

The weekend's almost over once again, and another blisteringly hot day seems to be ahead. Just 4 meetings to tempt us today. Two in Ireland, and two in England. 33 of the 54 tipsters have selections running at Doncaster, and of those selections 5 have gone for the same horse, with another 4 all going for a one other runner in the same race, and another 7 with yet other choices in that race. More than 1 tipster is going to be disappointed at the end of the day.

No joy for us yesterday with our sole selection coming home 2nd of the 6 runners, 1.5 lengths off the pace.

Again no change at the top of the pile with the top two both posting losing selections. The chasing pack on 6 winners continues to grow yet again, increasing to 9 tipsters.

He has made 4 starts to date, and finally got a win under his belt on his last outing, and on handicap debut, when in a dead-heat on the line, over 1M at Ripon 11 days ago. This trip is a furlong shorter, and the 3 extra lbs awarded by the handicapper as a result of that win shouldnt prove too troublesome.

Cheeky Extra Bet

I'm testing out a new tipping service over the next few weeks, which is likey to be the feature of a new blog series. It did cost me £0.99p for the 28 day trial, and if he continues to hit at the rate he was when he was trialling himself for the tipping service (around 50% strike rate) that fee should be easily recovered.

Another losing selection yesterday with Soldat Forte a length and a half second place, unfortunately, making it 3 losses since i took up the trial. On the bright side the results are heading in the right direction - with 4th, a 3rd ,and now a 2nd...

Today, we have travelled across the Irish Sea for an each way punt on Zettabyte in the 16:05 at Downpatrick. The advised bet was a 0.5pt each-way bet at 11-2 (6.50 in US odds terms).
However, the bookies I'm using will only allow a minimum stake of £0.10p (even though the total stake would have been at the level with two bets of £0.05p) so I've had to go for a 1pt each-way punt costing a total stake of £0.20 (the downside of using a smaller stake level of £0.10 per point)
