Kakegurui

Here is a short review that may contain some spoilers, not so much in terms of the script (which one? 😅) but rather its development with the characters.

An anime about gambling, in an Academy with rich kids, that is entirely based on how to edge lord every character for no reason , just because they are rich and corrupt and sick, but without going deep at all in this part socially or politically.
From the beginning I wanted to see how it would turn out and if it would continue like this, and its over the top exaggeration in the fan serving psychopathy of the characters had me foreshadowing the course it would take.
For as many characters as he wanted he gave a depth like 1 minute, so as not to leave us complaining that he didn't delve into anyone .
The protagonist is probably the most uninteresting character I've ever seen in a series, and I didn't mind that he was bland for most of the series because if you build it well it can be a very interesting feature, after all we're not looking for flawless heroes . But honestly, whether it was there or not, it wouldn't change anything in the series, and that's problematic.
On the other hand, ok, the interest in the games was based around PLOT WISTS, where I'm sure somewhere in between the creator just put on his buffs and was in a "I'LL GET SO MUCH PLOTTING" phase and the rest of his friends they agreed somewhere. Sorry, that's the level (I don't mean to offend anyone who drinks, obviously, it's just true that when you're drunk you get excited about the cleverness of things that are stupid, which has its own fun, UNLESS YOU'RE WRITING A SCREEN FOR KAKEGURUI).
My point is, a 12-13 episode series relies on being interesting through characters who are all edge lords in their own way, because just like that, and supposedly clever gambling games, which in their own way, were incredibly predictable.
I'm thinking how interesting this anime could be if it delved into the stink of this high class, like I said, socially, politically, the purpose for which this condition was created by playing extreme gambling in an Academy (it doesn't tell us when was this, apart from being something done for the sake of it? ), what political games could be behind it, and of course, if Yumeko - indeed a psychopathic and well-written character - transferred to the Academy to make them upside down for good.
Of course, this ideal is in my own head.

So Kakegurui, one of the worst anime I've ever seen, I won't even get into the process of watching a second season.

Ohhh.. worst anime, huh.. I think it was one of the best I've ever watched. I rewatched it a couple of times tbh. I think the next seasons will get you pumped up but well, too bad you won't give it a try anymore.

I think it is an anime to be seen with unconventional eyes, it is true that some characters can be unpleasant, but I think the mangaka precisely tries to show how evil can flow in youth when they have at least a small position of power, that expressed through the games.
