Now We're HIVE Rich - What will one do with ones HIVE fortune?

Hello SPIers, today we look at our newly acquired pile of 200,000 HIVE we got a few days back. Now we're HIVE rich, you might have a few questions like, What is the plan for it? How do we earn from it? and how will it make SPI a better investment for me? (you) All will be answered below.

How did we get 200,000 HIVE?

For those not aware, I have been banging on for the best part of a year about doing a BTC>HIVE>Dollars>BTC trade. This is SPI's biggest trade of the cycle and I've been planning it a long time. We converted 1 BTC into 200k HIVE last Saturday evening and thats how we have got it. Here's the trade below.

  • Convert 1 BTC into HIVE when the BTC > HIVE ratio climbs to 1 BTC to 200k HIVE
  • Hold the 200,000 HIVE until either
    (1) The BTC > HIVE ratio drops to 1 BTC to 50k HIVE or (2) HIVE hits $2.
  • Sell HIVE into dollars ( eg, $400k) when either 1 or 2 happens
  • Put $100k into HBD and the rest (75%) into 1-3 stable token LPs on curve and (25%) into cold storage
  • Wait until 1 year after the BTC peak when the market has crapped itself and go shopping. Cashout LP's and release cold storage dollars. Buy back at least 2 BTC and we'll still have $150-200k more to spend on bargains and new cycle tokens.
  • Wait for the 2029 bullrun and get richer,...slowly 😉

A few days back, 1 BTC crossed over the 200k mark and we pulled the trigger. Thats part 1 done and SPI for the first time in over 4 years has no BTC in the fund. This does make me nervous because I do like BTC and this single trade is 35% of the SPIs total fund value so it's not a small chunk either. It's not often we're making transactions for $65k, Believe me when I say, I must have checked each address when moving the funds about 20 times. A voice in my head was telling me, you cant balls this up kid, you dont wanna have to write a post explaining you've lost 1 full BTC. I wonder how many would take me for my word and how many would think I'd just stolen it 🤔. Hopefully, we'll never find out 😎

Whats the plan for the 200,000 HIVE?

I have moved it into a SPI holding account @spi-store and powered it up. This account is used mainly for holding HE tokens that pay us dividends and will make an excellent place to hold this HIVE. I plan to start full powerdown for this account in Feb/Mar 2025 to ensure we're fully liquid to prepare for the sell.

We will be using the HIVE for delegating. Curation had crossed my mind for about half a second but I've always said SPI will never do upvotes because it's a pain in the ass and I think it cheapens our "brand". Buying SPI to get an upvote is not the investor we are looking. (Thats EDS, Eddie's a HIVE whore and dont care about his rep!) We'll be delegating it because it is more passive and yields better.

How do we earn from it?

- 100,000 HP has been delegated to @eds-vote

EDS is a project under SPI and what is good for it is good for us. This 100k HP boost increases HP curation rewards by 40% and @eds-vote should be doing around 350 HP a week from rewards.

In return, SPI will get roughly 85 EDS a week and we'll stack them high. I like SPI to have EDS for 2 reasons. First, they pay a good HIVE income each week and more is better. The second reason is building a large pile of EDS gives SPI a safety blanket should crap hit the fan. I cant really think of a scenario but if something really bad were to happen to EDS, we have a pile of tokens we can sacrifice and burn. Maybe the EDS APY is declining really fast because of low incomes are something. SPI would be able to burn a bunch of EDS tokens resulting in an increased APY for the remaining EDS in circulation. I dont see something like this ever happening but it's always good to have backup plans ready in place.

So, we'll stack these 85 EDS each week. Im on the fence if I should include them as HIVE income is not. Im think 80% yes but I need to confirm the numbers are good before saying so for sure. I'll know better after this week's SPI report. You should deffo check out @eds-vote, you can delegate any amount of HP to the account and each Monday to receive EDS tokens.

- 100,000 HP has been delegated to @leo.voter
LEO is maybe the most liquid HE token and this pays out 12% which is good. It does miss days sometimes but recently, the past 3-4 weeks it's been paying out perfectly. They dont back pay (maybe you need to do a support ticket) so the APY is maybe between 10-11% which is still good.

This LEO will be converted to HIVE each week and added to our HIVE income. Ballpark figures would say we'll earn an extra 220-230 HIVE per week which will be a lifesaver as HIVE incomes have been dwindling for months.

image.png

As said above, in Q1 of 2025, I'll undelegate both of these and start a full powerdown.

How will it make SPI a better investment for me?

First, because the SPI fund is HIVE heavy, the token price will be more stable and less reactive to market swings. We've increased HIVE income by 220-230 HIVE per week which results in bigger weekly dividends, roughly a 40% increase.

Looking out further and assuming we can sell the 200k for $2, we'll have $400k. HIVE's peak last cycle was $3.41, we're not chasing new-time highs and I think we'll sell at $2 and then watch HIVE go to $4-5 and kick ourselves for not holdings longer. $2 is the plan and this pain will be short-lived after the bubble pops and we watch the market switch from bull to bear.

HIVE income for SPI will increase becasue we'll have 100k HBD earning 20k HBD per year are whatever the interest rate is in 2026 onwards. We will start to pay out weekly HBD dividends and SPI tokens holders will receive 2 dividends. 1 weekly HIVE dividend as is now and a second new monthly HBD dividend.

Just throwing numbers out but if BTC moons to $150k this cycle, we can expect it to drop 65% next bear cycle. We target $50k BTC and buy 2-4 BTC for $100-200k. This would mean we'll at least double our BTC position from the start of this trade.

We will have still $100-200k left over and we can buy a ton of ETH/SOL, got new cycle tokens, top up our SP500 investment, hell maybe even buy a few ozs of gold.

For you as an investor, your bags will be pumped. If all goes well, by Q1 2027 we'll have 100k HBD, at least 2x more BTC and at least $100k more to make new investments. Your bags will be pumped.

Thats the Post

A few people might have missed what the plan was so I thought I would write this post. Not everyone can see every post.

I've been talking about this for the past few days already so I'll leave it for a while. Our 1 BTC cost us 40k STEEM at the time so getting 200k HIVE back is already a big win so lets just enjoy it a while, enjoy the boosted HIVE income and while it lasts and stack some EDS 😉

Thanks for taking the time to check it out.

Wow - that was a great trade. The delegations sound like a good plan, and as you've said, we now just have to wait for HIVE to rise, but in the meantime atleast its working for us !
Great work

Thanks man. It'll be nice to boost the dividends for 9-10 months.

Greetings @spinvest ,

Thank you for this post...what a plan.

My thought is that your BTC estimate should be a bit more conservative...under 120K and you are right it will have a big correction...you have a good estimate there.

Yes...Leo!

Cheers!

Thanks for checking the post out and leaving a comment.

You dont think we will 1 BTC equal to under 120k HIVE again? Is that correct?

(Edited)

Greetings @spinvest Thank you for your kind reply.

""Just throwing numbers out but if BTC moons to $150k this cycle, we can expect it to drop 65% next bear cycle. We target $50k BTC and buy 2-4 BTC for $100-200k. This would mean we'll at least double our BTC position from the start of this trade."" ----from your post.

The above is, what was being referred to, especially the number $150K this cycle. If by cycle you mean years end....I have seen it predicted $117k by year's end and that was conservative...From a trader who has been quite accurate yet conservative....so $150K could be right.

He is also predicting quite a big drop...which is what prompted me to write a note.

I can provide links if you would like.

Wishing your project all the best!

Cheers!

A big trade I would nervous as well!😳
Was this on HiveEngine?
They need to lower the minimum BTC trade its way too high!🙄

Lord no, we have problems doing $50 transactions on HE. I did this on Binance.

Bad thing is HIVE will only go up from here and selling 200k HIVE at $2 will be a massive transaction. I will 110% be crapping myself. Not a bad problem to have all the same!

I wish I could transact Hive in the U.S. on Binance!
Thanks, Gary Gensler !😡
Hopefully things will eventually change……

Congrats on executing the first part of the plan exactly as planned! I'm curious, where did you execute the trade? On Binance? I imagine you didn't buy at the market price, so I'm also curious how long did it take for the orders to get filled?

Yes, did the transaction on Binance. Good question.

Yes, you're correct, I never bought at market price because it was bouncing between 1 BTC to 198k-201k HIVE so I picked the buying price. I just had a lot at the transaction and from start to finish, it took 22 minutes to get filled. When I put the buy order in, HIVE's daily volume (BTC/HIVE) to that point was $650k and by the time I'd finished, it was over $1M.

I actually converted 1.5 BTC in total. I did a 0.5 BTC trade from my personal wallet. In some ways, SPI and my personal crypto beat to the same drum. All separate of course. I did the SPI trade and withdrew the HIVE before I did my personal trade.

We got lucky, looking at HIVEs monthly chart, we picked up our HIVE at the absolute bottom. I might tank under 30 cent in a few weeks but for now, im feeling good

22 minutes? That's not bad! It looks like you found liquidity quite easily. It's true, it was great timing too when some were tempted to dump due to the dip.

I do not think we should call our 85 EDS "income" the income will be the payout we receive from the EDS tokens, not the EDS themselves. I think we should tread EDS as we would BITCOIN or ETH, something we are purchasing and holding.

Loving these reports - looking forward for increased payouts as I will be using them to buy EDSD.

hey, good call. Just include the HIVE EDS payments we get and stack the EDS high. Will be nice increase HIVE incomes for a few months, the dividends as a APY is pretty crap. Thats the downside of the token value increasing when income does not. Not a bad problem to have, haha
