Innovating Prize Systems: The HBD Cash Comment

Hello SPIers, last week we released a post about making the SPI HIVE lottery public and outlined a basic plan. I had said that i would write a post to explain the model in more detail because its pretty interesting but this post is not today's post.

Today's post is to answer a question @sinistry asked last week. He asked why dont we sell lottery tickets for HBD instead of HIVE. It's a good question and the answer is I had planned to sell tickets for HBD, it's in the plan at the bottom of each weekly lottery post so I can't deny it was my first thought as well but when I thought about it more recently, I thought for HIVE prizes, we should sell tickets in HIVE. This does not mean we can't have HBD draw each week as well and today's post is about just that.

I plan for the main HIVE lottery when launched to the public to have its own account to separate it from SPinvest and its weekly draw will most likely be on Saturdays. During the week, we can run a HBD raffle with a twist. I need feedback on what you think.

The basic idea is to sell tickets for 1 HBD each with no limit. Each ticket would be assigned a number starting from 1. At the end of the week, if we sell 100 tickets, I get AI to randomly select a number between 1 and 100 to pick a winner. In the winner's post, i announce that week's winner but I dont tag them with a @. The winner will have 24 hours to leave a comment on the winner's post to claim the prize. If the prize is not claimed, it rolls over to the next week until someone wins and claims.

There are extra layers in between but that is a basic idea. It's a winner-take-all sort of thing.

Of course, we could pick 3 or 5 winners a week and using the example above of 100, each prize would be 33.34 for 3 winners or 20 HIVE for 5. I like the idea of a winner take all but thats why I ask for feedback so what do you think?

To begin it would be nice to do 2 draws per week, the main HIVE draw of Saturday and a HBD draw mid-week. That will give the option for people to pick between HIVE or HBD or both. It's easy work as well, 90% of the draw/winners posts will be a template and the rest is just tracking sales which is a 2-minute copy/paste job from peaked to Excel 1 time a week for each draw.

What does SPI get?

I dont expect SPI to make anything from these, to be honest. I'd say if we can make them successful and sustainable, then I'll explore maybe skimming a little fraction of a percent from the top but only after it's confirmed to be sustainable. I just think HIVE needs a good lottery for some reason and if we can model it around small user numbers and offer decent prize amounts with incentives and bonuses for buying tickets with recurring payments, we have a chance.

As always, your feedback here would be amazing. The more I know about what people like and dont like, the better im able to build out a desirable model for players.

IMHO I would spread the wealth and make more winners. Maybe more for 1st, less for 2nd, etc.

Yeah, that might a good idea. I think i would just make it so all the prizes are the same. Thanks for your feedback.

I like all or nothing or this to spread it out some...
40 for 1st
30 for 2nd
20 for 3rd
10 for 4th

Oldmans above suggested more prizes as well. I think i would just make it so all the prizes are the same so 4 winners at 25 HBD each. People that buy more than 1 ticket could win more than once 😁

Thanks for checking out the post and leaving some feedback.
