The Bank Drama Experience

I can't believe I haven't written about this wonderful experience and I've been here for this long... It didn't even cross my mind until #hivenaija brought it up... Hehehe.

Writing about it now is fun but it wasn't 2019 when it happened, I guess some bad memories becomes fun overtime

The Bank Drama Experience

Shortly after I crossed over from the main campus to the college of medicine campus, my dad retired from public service and not long after, he was paid his gratuity.

Well, luck found me and my dad gave me a hundred thousand naira.
As a young guy, the money was big for me and I didn't want to spend it unwisely.

I preferred checking my account balance everytime and seeing the six zero figures intact; you needed to see how I always smile from cheek to cheek all the time.

As devil may have it I'll say🤣, marketers from Access Bank came to my lecture hall to talk about a new package they had to offer students called The Student Fixed Deposit Account.
It was just like the normal fixed deposit account just that since it was for students, it had an option of lower duration and also the Percentage Return on Investment (% ROI) was bigger in a way.

Still having the money in my bank account and was not using it urgently, I discussed with my brother and he said it was something very nice.

The next day, I visited the bank (it was inside the campus) and saw the marketers that came to my lecture hall, I approached them and told them the reason for my visit.... I really felt like a big man, hehehe

They told me the ROI for the 100,000naira package I wanted to do was 5% and the minimum duration was 8months.

I gladly accepted because I knew I really didn't need much after paying my school fees other than feeding.

I recalculated the ROI with the staff there and we all agreed that I would be getting 40, 000 as my ROI after 8months
I fixed the money on March, 2019.

Months passed and soon it was November, I personally decided to leave it for an additional one month so that I'll take everything on December.
A funky fest December was all I had In mind, hehee.

It was December already and on a good Tuesday morning, I dressed up and marched to the Bank... Access Bank 🤧

I met the staff there, he was not saying what I wanted to hear... I was thinking that I would just get to the counter and take my money and go.... Easy peasy just the way I gave it to them but I was wrong.
He requested I get an ATM card and sign other documents that I don't even know.

I left that day without my money, came back the next day and the day after but still couldn't get my money.. I was really getting annoyed.

Then came Friday, hell was let loose when they finally processed everything and I was getting my capital without the ROI.

I didn't understand, like all the 9months I've been without my money were in vain or what?

Next thing was that I was shouting down the Bank, insisting that they give me my complete money... I still wonder how they didn't send the security to bundle me away😅

The shout got to the manager and he rushed down quickly and begged me to follow him to his office.

Upon arrival, he offered me malt which I gladly took first before he started explaining that the fault was from the head office at Lagos bla bla bla..... I was really pained but then what more could I do.

I just went downstairs and told the cashier to give me the last penny on that account which he did and I took the cash immediately and went to UBA Bank inside campus.

That was how I started banking with UBA bank and never ever banked with access Bank again.

Wasn't really a fun experience but remembering it now after all these while, remembering how I shouted like a madman, I'm only left with smiles as to how I pulled it off.

Time indeed can make the worst experience look fun.

Some bank can be so dumb with the way they attend to customer and do this and I've had same experience with access bank too.

Good to know you at least got a malt to calm your nerve before they let your take all your money.

Jeez, it's a popular experience?

That's very very sad , I really hope for someone who will make them vomit that ROI to come one day, useless people

It seems nothing good happened with you by keeping your money in bank. It was disappointing but what could you do? Feeling sorry what happened to you..

I shouldn’t be laughing but your experience is really funny. Hehehe. I am very skeptical on Fixed deposits in banks because they have a way to just mess things up. This one is an unforgettable lesson sha.

Manager calmed you down with a malt 😀 That was unfair. Access bank couldn't let you have access to the ROI 😆 It's painful though because that was the reason you kept the money there for 9 months. They failed in their promise.

Very very unfair and the small boy in me took the malt and chilled suddenly becoming understandable 😂

They failed honestly and the problem was that they didn't even admit that

I didn't understand, like all the 9months I've been without my money were in vain or what?

Even though you were not planning to use the money any time soon, it would have been better checking your phone and seeing that the whole figures were intact rather than, a shattered hope of having your money 🤑 increased with 40,000 naira.
That was really annoying but funny how you calmed down with a bottle of malt 😂😂😂.

Honestly, ordinary can malt not even bottled malt 😢
Access Bank really got the best part of me and that's why I don't even like to see anything about that bank around me
