WEEK 174: My harvest is on standby

Hello friends welcome to my blog!

My first growing project started a few months ago, specifically at the end of January 2023 and I was supposed to harvest bananas by October, I was very excited since I planted them, watered them, and removed the weeds all this time, at the beginning the plants grew as agreed and looked good, but after the first 3 months they stopped growing and their leaves withered, they looked burned by the sun. With each new leaf, I felt happy and I talked to them as if they were listening to me, I even told them that when they gave me fruits of joy I would not even eat them, this was the first time I sowed something and I must confess that at the moment I feel sad and disappointed, I do not know what I did wrong, but my harvest did not happen in the established time and I doubt it will ever happen.

This year has been different the climatic seasons in my country, I live in the tropics in Venezuela and here we have two seasons, summer begins in November until April, and then comes winter from May until October, but this year everything was delayed. The rainy season began in August even in some regions it is still not raining, it is possible that this change in climate has affected my harvest, and as I am a first-timer I did not know how to assist the plants as it should.

The middle one is the one with the plant shoot.

What is strange is that the plant in the middle made a son being so small and a person told me that this type of banana was dwarfs, that is to say that they do not grow tall like the others, and being small in size it is possible that they are adults. I am a little ashamed of how they look in the pictures, but weeds grow fast when it rains and you can see how the leaves are burned and ugly. The ones that look nice are my ferns that do not give me fruits but decorate the house with their beauty and make my life happy.

Cambur or banana plants are mostly very delicate and do not grow in all types of terrain. As a tip, you can try manure, which is an excellent fertilizer, or you can try planting some other species of plants. You have a very beautiful fern. I hope you can continue. growing and having many successes in your garden, happy weekend

😊 I think too much sun hurts them and the soil is not the right one apparently, I am going to apply fertilizer to their roots and hopefully before 2030 I will have bananas 😁🤣.

Thank you, happy weekend @marlynmont

I think your banana leaves are turning yellow like that because it is not excessive exposure to sunlight. like a pest attack on your banana plant. try to fertilize the soil by adding organic fertilizer.

I see nothing on the ground my no splashing on the leaves, first I know it was excess water and limit it, thank you very much for your advice, it all adds up. 😉

It is a great job you have done with the plants, hopefully you will have your harvest soon, I would like to give you some advice but I don't know much about this and at my parents' house they have a lot. Of course, the climate is different, I understand that bananas grow better in hot areas, I don't know if this is true.

I think banana is given in different climates, hot and cold or humid, but the secret I do not know, thanks friend for the games wishes, we will see what happens in two years 🤣. @doriangel
