My Christmas tradition

The aguinaldo masses are the ones that take place in the early morning at 5 a.m. and 9 days before Christmas, also known as Advent masses. and 9 days before Christmas, also known as Advent masses, this is a Venezuelan tradition I understand and I really don't know if they are performed in another part of the world, as my roots are half Venezuelan and half Colombian I know that in Colombia they don't do them because there they perform the novena of aguinaldo which is a tradition inherited from generation to generation where family and friends gather to sing, make prayers and petitions between December 16 and 24 at night around 6 pm until 9 pm, also in the days of Advent.

Although I do not like to get up early 🙈 the only time I do it with pleasure are in the aguinaldo masses, maybe because there is music and I love the Christmas parrandas, I always try to go to even one, this year I planned to go to several, but I could not for different factors, for example on day 8 I overslept by setting the alarm wrong 😢, I only had one last chance on the 9th which is celebrated on December 24, I will tell you how it went.

It was 5 o'clock in the morning, tun tun tun, as the song says, 🤣 when I ran with my aunt to get dressed while we listened to the bells and music, because we live a block away from the catholic church, as it was still dark and we had some time, I asked my aunt to take some pictures of me in the decoration of the square that I did not have, my beautiful aunt is a very smart girl with Down syndrome and the pictures she took of me were nice I will show them another day 😍.

Mass and gift giving

The mass was delayed because the children and young people who sing seem to have fallen asleep, but 3 girls went ahead with the commitment and with a drum enlivened the ritual of the mass, there were few people, for the community, my neighborhood is a full parish, but the Catholic church has lost parishioners joining the evangelical Christian church, the important thing is that everyone connects in their own way with the creator of everything. So there were only a few people. The priest is a young Creole man from our roots who speaks clearly and in his message he explained the meaning of the birth of Jesus, which is the resurgence of hope for a better future.

At the end of the mass, they gave us a small breakfast, with sweet arepas and hot chocolate 🤤. From there I went with my aunt to run an errand and when we returned we found that they were giving away toys, the same Santa Claus, who arrived before midnight 😂. The good quality toys, bicycles, dolls, all donated by a foundation that I do not remember the name, people applauded excited with the gifts, they were also handing out cakes and refreshments. We were given refreshments and my aunt ran to hug Santa, but she didn't get a gift because she wasn't on the list, she wanted a girl's makeup case or a xylophone, but there is hope that they will give it to her if there is something left over. 😁

Mi tradición de navidad

Las misas de aguinaldo son las que se realizan en la madrugada a las 5 a.m. y 9 días antes de la navidad, conocidas también como las misas de Adviento, esta es una tradición venezolana tengo entendido y realmente desconozco si se realizan en otra parte del mundo, como mis raíces son mitad venezolanas y mitad colombianas sé que en Colombia no las hacen porque allí se realiza la novena de aguinaldo que es una tradición heredada de generación en generación donde se reúnen la familia y amigos a cantar, realizar oraciones y peticiones entre el 16 y 24 de diciembre en la noche a eso de las 6 pm hasta las 9 pm, también en los días de Adviento.

Aunque no me gusta madrugar 🙈 la única vez que lo hago con gusto son en las misas de aguinaldo, tal vez porque hay música y me encantan las parrandas navideñas, siempre trato de ir aunque sea a una, este año pensaba ir a varias, pero no pude por diferentes factores, por ejemplo el día 8 me quede dormida por configurar mal la alarma 😢, solo me quedaba una última oportunidad la del día 9 que se celebra el 24 de diciembre, te contaré como me fue.

Eran las 5 de la mañana, tun tun tun, como dice la canción, 🤣 cuando corría con mi tía a vestirnos mientras escuchábamos las campanas y la música, porque vivimos a una cuadra de la iglesia católica, como aún estaba oscuro y teníamos algo de tiempo, le pedí a mi tía que me sacara unas fotos en la decoración de la plaza que yo no tenía, mi tía hermosa es una niña con síndrome de Down muy inteligente y las fotos que me tomo quedaron lindas se las muestro otro día.😍

Misa y entrega de regalos

La misa se retrasó porque los niños y jóvenes que cantan parece que se quedaron dormidos, pero 3 niñas salieron adelante con el compromiso y con un tambor amenizaron el ritual de la misa, había pocas personas, para la comunidad, mi barrio es una parroquia completa, pero la iglesia católica ha perdido feligreses sumándose a la iglesia cristiana evangélica, lo importante es que cada quien se conecte a su manera con el creador de todo. Así que había pocas personas. El padre es un señor joven y criollo de nuestras raíces que habla de forma clara y en su mensaje explicaba el sentido del nacimiento de Jesús, que es el resurgimiento de la esperanza de un futuro mejor.

Al terminar la misa, nos dieron un pequeño desayuno, con arepas dulces y chocolate caliente 🤤. De allí me fui con mi tía a hacer una diligencia y al regresar nos encontramos que estaban regalando juguetes, el mismo Santa Claus, que llego antes de la media noche 😂. Los juguetes de buena calidad, bicicletas, muñecas, todas donadas por una fundación que no recuerdo el nombre, la gente aplaudía emocionados con los regalos, además estaban repartiendo tortas y refrescos. A Nosotras nos dieron refrigerio y mi tía corrió abrazar a Santa, pero ella no recibió regalo porque no estaba anotada en la lista, ella quería un estuche de maquillaje de niña o un xilófono, pero hay esperanza de que se lo regalen si sobra algo. 😁
