Architecture and design in religious temples ⛪️ (ING - ESP)

Modern architecture and interior design of religious temples

Inspiration can come at any time, you just have to get out of the routine and it will find you, that's what happened to me when I went out to run an errand, I found two religious temples, one in front of the other, each with a particular architecture that differentiates them and a different religion, but with something in common, both are based on the teachings of the enlightened Jesus of Nazareth.

That they are so close to each other caught my attention and at the same time gave me some happiness to know that I live in a society with freedom of worship and that both can coexist in healthy peace. These churches are located in the town of Turmero in the state of Aragua, Venezuela, first I will describe the only one I could enter, then the one I found closed.

Our Lady of Perpetual Help Sanctuary

There is a church of the catholic religion, the first thing I noticed is that there was a soup kitchen open for people of low income, homeless and who have nothing to eat, this works next to this church and keeps the same front, it works with the collaboration of the church, then my gaze was directed to the church that has security against theft.

Above the front, at the top of the wall, there is an electrical system that prevents intruders from entering, so it makes me think that they have things of value, upon entering there is a large showcase of religious objects that are for sale, such as rosaries, printed flannels with religious images and many things, which I did not photograph because there was a person in charge and out of embarrassment.

The wall of the entrance has a large mural of the Virgin of Perpetual Help and a poster of a warrior who I do not know who he is, the entire front wall has slabs of stones and on one side there is a sculpture of the Virgin of Coromoto, patron saint of Venezuela very nice, this I could touch, there are also giant pots with palms that decorate the entrance, I went on and entered the center of the church and I was a little impressed.

This church has air conditioning, which makes the atmosphere cool and provoked me to stay there, it served me a good time and I even felt like praying 😆, there were two people at the door, but I felt they were like the church wardens, the others were older people that out of respect for them I did not take more pictures.

This church has two floors and downstairs is where the church functions for the parishioners, with oyster white walls, wooden ceiling and crystal chandeliers, they immerse you in another era. The images that decorate it are many and of great size, the one I was able to photograph was one of the largest, I would say that it measures 1.60 cm of a nun, maybe it is Mother Mary of St. Joseph who is a newly appointed saint in Rome. Well, this sculpture is bigger than me. 🤭

There was a wall full of aged pictures and things that made no sense to me, but they were there as proof of some miracle and another wall that I really liked, was one that upon entering catches the attention of anyone for its colorfulness, it is the wall that faces the back of the church and is covered with small pictures or plaques with a message of thanks for a favor done, a miracle that mostly are for regaining health or saving a life. The light is reflected in these colorful pictures, making them shine in a beautiful way.

Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints

When leaving this church and crossing the street I run into a singular architecture, it was a construction with a small obelisk located at the top of the front, this is the other church, which has a nameplate that literally describes the following: "church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints" they are commonly known as Mormons, these churches are always closed, I have never seen them open and I do not know what hours they operate, their system is very discreet, they do not have a cross in their architecture like the Catholic ones, but they do have an obelisk that represents according to what I could investigate a replica of the Vermont granite obelisk that became the tallest in America in its time and was placed for the commemoration of the birthplace of the prophet of this religion Joseph Smith, that is where this architectural symbol comes from in its design.

Of this place I can only describe what I saw on the outside, it is a modern construction which has two wings, in one it seems to be the temple, in the other a kind of classrooms and at the end you can see a sports court, I imagine that it works as a training site. They have a front of iron railings which allowed me to put my arm in and take these photos without interference.

As a conclusion both churches seem to have things of value that they protect with an architecture and a safe design, I like that they are one in front of the other and as a curious fact both are in the same street of a health center, coincidence or coincidence, what do you think?

Hi @soyunasantacruz, the creativity to decorate the temples has no limits, each one has a particular style that makes it special; the wall with the plaques is impressive when I saw the cover I thought they were stained glass; the design of the last temple stands out for its tower in triangular termination I have seen several and have that feature in common.

It was a pleasure to read your publication and to know the different designs and interior decorations of several temples.

Greetings and blessings!

That wall is the part of the church that I liked the most, the rays of the sun go through it during the course of the day and it is reflected there and it looks more beautiful.

There is almost no more space to hang plaques.

These two temples have their own beauty both outside and inside, it was difficult to choose the photos because I had so many and I wanted to share them all.

Happy day @belkyscabrera, you are always welcome, it's a pleasure to receive you.
