I've always said I have no awareness of when I started reading; in my earliest memories I always had a book in my hand, including Kindergarten. By the time I entered first grade, I could read perfectly. Someone recently told me that I forgot because of trauma 😂, but I was never forced to read, I always did it for pleasure. We also know that children repeat everything their parents do, and I repeated everything my mom did: she is always with a book in her hand.

I don't remember when she told me about The Wheel of Time, but she was always naming it to me. And when the series came out in 2022, and I named it to her, she said, I'm tired of telling you to read the books. So he passed them on to me, I started reading them on the tablet and I read half of them, I thought I had read too little, so I gave up and didn't continue. But being honest, and not to be rude, that was less than a year ago.

With the arrival of the second season, and after watching the first episode of the series streamed on Prime Video, I decided to give it a second chance again. Although it took me a couple of weeks, I was able to finish it.

No recuerdo cuando me habló de La rueda del Tiempo, pero siempre me la nombraba. Y cuando salió la serie en el 2022 y se la nombré me dijo: me he cansado de decirte que te leas los libros. Así que me los pasó, empecé a leerlos en la tablet y me leí la mitad, pensé que había leído poco, así que renuncié y no continué. Pero siendo honesta, y por no querer ser ruda, eso fue hace menos de un año.

Con la llegada de la segunda temporada, y después de ver el primer capítulo de la serie transmitida en Prime Video, decidí volver a darle una segunda oportunidad, y aunque me costó un par de semanas, pude finalizarlo.

Rand al'Thor is a young shepherd boy in a remote village where he serves as a shepherd with his father. During the eve of Bell Tine, the village suffers a sinister attack at the hands of the Trollocs, humanoid beasts in the shapes of various animals. They are quite grotesque and given to killing without any distinction and with the greatest cruelty in the world. These trollocs were commanded by a fado, another creature dressed in a black cloak that covers his body and is devoid of eyes and nose. All these sinister creatures are dominated by The Dark One, the enemy of the saga. At the same time, a lady dressed in blue arrived in the village accompanied by a guardian. This lady turned out to be an Aes Sedai, a mythical witch who can channel the true source (she has spectacular powers). Rand author along with his friends, Matrim Cauthon and Perrin Aybara could hold this power, which would be to channel. If you like pure fantasy, this is a saga that you must read. The hero's path is well represented throughout, starting with the call to adventure and the supernatural help of the Aes Sedai. The magic system is impressive. But what really impressed me was to see all the influence of Tolkien's works taken by the author, it's impressive how well he achieved it.

Of course, the author of this saga is Robert Jordan, who didn't manage to finish the saga, but he left enough written material for a Robert Sanderson to finish it. And although I have a long way to go to reach the three books written by Sanderson, I am confident that it will be wonderful because if Sanderson has something, it is the respect for the magic systems. As for the length of the saga: there are 14 books in total, and that was the main reason why I dragged my feet on starting to read it. Also, that each book is extremely long, it took me two whole weeks to finish it. And not because it was long, but because it is a book with a complex narrative, which makes it a slower read. In this it is also similar to Tolkien.

I forced myself to read it, and I got through it. It was a great exercise, and I always read self-conclusive books between saga books, so I can cleanse my reading palate. I have to be honest, and that is that I completely know that if you're not a regular reader, and if you don't like either Tolkien or Sanderson, you'll have a hard time reading this one. However, I've already started the second one, and it's going much faster.

Si te gusta la fantasía basta y pura, esta es una saga que debes leer sí o sí. El camino del héroe este bien representado en toda su extensión, iniciando con el llamado a la aventura y la ayuda sobrenatural de la Aes Sedai. El sistema de magia es impresionante. Pero lo que realmente me impresionó fue ver toda la influencia de las obras de Tolkien tomadas por el autor, es impresionante lo bien que lo logró.

Por supuesto, el autor de esta saga es Robert Jordan, quien no alcanzó a terminar la saga, pero dejó bastante material escrito para que un Robert Sanderson pudiera terminarlas. Me obligué a leerlo, y lo logré. Fue un gran ejercicio, y siempre leo libros autoconclusivos entre libros de sagas para poder limpiarme el paladar lector. Tengo que ser sincera, y es que sé completamente que si no eres un asiduo lector, y si no te gustan ni Tolkien ni Sanderson, se te hará complicado leer este. Sin embargo, ya empecé el segundo y va mucho más rápido.

Yes, I was totally gripped by the book, and although I took a few days break to start the second volume, I was able to chew, think and fall in love with each of the friends who started from two rivers. They are developing within the story and each of them having a separate, different hero's path, and I'm liking that more and more. Sí, quedé totalmente atrapada por el libro, y aunque me tomé un respiro de unos de días para empezar el segundo tomo, pude masticar, pensar y enamorarme de cada uno de los amigos que partieron de dos ríos, quienes van desarrollándose dentro de la historia y teniendo cada uno de ellos por separado, un camino del héroe diferente, y eso ya me está gustando cada vez más. Le di solo 4.5 estrellas, pero solo porque me costó 17 días exactos (como lo muestra Bookmory) poder terminarlo.

No te asustes, si pudiste con El Silmarilion, podrás con todos los libros que te pongan al frente. En cuanto a le serie: muy poco que ver con el libro, y eso hace que valga mucho más la pena leerse los libros. Gracias, mami, por recomendarlos.
