¿Qué de lo que ocurre a nuestro alrededor nos forma y transforma?
¿Cuánto de nosotros es producto de nuestra crianza, de la región en la que nacimos, de la cultura que hemos practicado como un reflejo social? ¿De lo que escogemos ver y escuchar y de lo que vemos y escuchamos de forma accidental?

Lo social llega a ser una escuela para el individuo. Mientras este crece y aprende a discernir escoge cuáles de estas enseñanzas las toma para sí y cuáles desecha. Un niño aprende de las conversaciones entre adultos, del video que vio en el celular de la persona sentada en el siguiente puesto de la fila, del rostro de su madre cuando le reprocha porque se ha portado "mal", aprende de todo, la mayoría de las veces, por decisión de los papás, el colegio, incluso, por azar.

Cuando se inicia en la lectura, en cambio, esta recepción de información es volitiva. En el desayuno voltea la caja del cereal y se revela ante él un mundo de letras con sentido. De paseo en carro descubre señalizaciones y letreros. En la oficina de papá hay un periódico, se acerca a leer un titular y esta tinta es diferente a las demás, en ella queda registrada dejos de maldad.

El niño no lo sabe pero a través de la lectura ha adquirido un pasaporte al mundo entero. En caso de que disfrute de esta actividad (que lamentablemente no ocurre en todos los casos) tiene una ventaja adicional, pues aprovechará cada mínima oportunidad para tomar vuelo: justo antes de dormir, los minutos libres en la clase de Informática, cuando está aburrido en casa...

El cerebro joven recibe y procesa toda esta información y hace algo con ella, es natural en lo humano. El niño ahora es un adolescente que ha descubierto su mundo interno a través del pensamiento. Las ideas llegan y las transfroma como plastilina entre sus dedos. Analiza, abstrae y crea. También descubre sus miedos. Maneja un arsenal de conocimientos, creencias, expectativas, prejuicios, todas son producto de lo que ha visto, escuchado, leído a lo largo de los años.

En una oportunidad leyó en una red social un comentario ofensivo hacia un grupo, él no estuvo de acuerdo. Le dio tanta rabia que sintió como un nudo se formaba en su estómago. Esperó calmarse, y a las horas, redactó una publicación a modo de respuesta, señalando todos los puntos que consideraba importantes, con hechos. Criticó con respeto e invitó a tomar conciencia sobre este tema. Sus pensamientos tuvieron un alcance importante. Se sintió bien, su formación, conocimientos y valores tenían un sentido, podía causar un impacto positivo y decidió que eso haría de ahora en adelante.

Durante el mes de abril se conmemora, en tres fechas diferentes, el día del libro, la creatividad y la conciencia, pilares constructores del Ser Humano. *How much of what happens around us shapes and transforms us?
How much of us is a product of our upbringing, of the region we were born in, of the culture we have practiced as a social reflection, of what we choose to see and hear and of what we see and hear accidentally?

*The social becomes a school for the individual. As he grows and learns to discern he chooses which of these teachings he takes for himself and which he discards. A child learns from conversations between adults, from the video he saw on the cell phone of the person sitting next in line, from the face of his mother when she reproaches him because he has behaved "badly", he learns from everything, most of the time, by the decision of his parents, the school, even by chance?

*When he starts reading, on the other hand, this reception of information is volitional. At breakfast, he turns over the cereal box and a world of meaningful letters is revealed to him. On a car ride, he discovers signs and signals. In his father's office there is a newspaper, he approaches to read a headline and this ink is different from the others, in it there are registered traces of evil.

The child does not know it but through reading he has acquired a passport to the whole world. In case he enjoys this activity (which unfortunately does not happen in all cases) he has an additional advantage, because he will take advantage of every little opportunity to take flight: just before going to sleep, the free minutes in the computer class, when he is bored at home....

*The young brain receives and processes all this information and does something with it, it is natural for humans. The child is now an adolescent who has discovered his inner world through thought. Ideas come to him and he transforms them like plasticine between his fingers. He analyzes, abstracts and creates. He also discovers his fears. He handles an arsenal of knowledge, beliefs, expectations, prejudices, all are the product of what he has seen, heard, read over the years.

*Once he read in a social network an offensive comment to a group, he did not agree. It made him so angry that he felt a knot forming in his stomach. He waited to calm down, and within hours, he wrote a post as a response, pointing out all the points he considered important, with facts. He criticized respectfully and invited awareness of the issue. His thoughts had an important reach. He felt good, his training, knowledge and values had a meaning, he could make a positive impact and he decided that this is what he would do from now on.

During the month of April we commemorate, on three different dates, the day of the book, creativity and conscience, building pillars of the Human Being.
