WOO - The Most Memorable Wrestling Championship Wins in Recent Years

avatar

Greetings to my favorite gaming community online, WOO.

It's @skyehi and I'm always excited to work on some awesome wrestling list for everyone.

For today's blog we're going to quickly take a look at some of the most memorable Wrestling Championship wins in recent years.

Before I begin with the list though, my personal favorite championship win was when Roman Reigns beat Brock Lesnar to retain his universal championship and win the WWE championship at WrestleMania to become Undisputed champion.

Roman was caught in a devasting arm lock that got his arm broken but he fought through the pain to win the belt anyways. He's been holding on to the belt for almost two years now.

In the amazing and storytelling world of professional wrestling, winning championships is a really big deal for the career of wrestlers. It's the ultimate thing to accomplish in their career and they train and fight to get it.

A championship belt is the result of hard work and let's not forget storytelling. Sometimes the match could be fixed to crown a new champion or for the current champion to retain. Whatever happens eventually leads to another storyline.

And in the recent years, there have been some truly amazing championship wins that fans like myself will never forget.

I'll take you through a few of those moments.

One of the most special moments I can never forget happened at WrestleMania 35 in 2019. Kofi Kingston, who had literally been in WWE for years and had never held the prestigious WWE or world championship belt finally won a title match.

He became the WWE Champion. His journey to the top was full of challenges, but his win was a great example of talent and fan support. I can also never forget when he flew to his country Ghana and met his president with the belt. The entire country was very proud of him. He recently built an IT laboratory in his hometown.

The celebration with his family, fans and most especially the new day team which invloved Woods and Big E was a heartwarming moment indeed.

Another special moment was in AEW (All Elite Wrestling) where Jon Moxley, formerly known as Dean Ambrose in WWE won the AEW World Championship.

There was this meme that all members of the shield had belt except for Dean Ambrose and he finally proved us all wrong. Although I was quite sad that Ambrose had to leave the WWE, I was very happy that he still made history elsewhere.

His move from WWE to AEW was a very big deal and his championship win at AEW's Revolution event in 2020 represented a new chapter in his career.

One other championship win moment was at WrestleMania 35. Becky Lynch's win was simply unforgettable.

Her transformation into "The Man" made her a fan favorite and a star in the women's division. Becky's victory in a match against Ronda Rousey and Charlotte Flair for the RAW and SmackDown Women's Championships was a big moment for women's wrestling.

This was where we started having Becky Two belts chants and hashtags. She became the top dog in the women's division.

Although currently she has lost both titles, she still holds the title of being the Man in the women's division.

There was another epic moment outside the WWE. On the international stage, Kota Ibushi's win in the New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW) G1 Climax tournament in 2020 was nothing short of monumental.

It led to a match where he unified the IWGP Heavyweight and Intercontinental Championships at Wrestle Kingdom 15. So that basically means our Tribal Chief Roman Reigns ain't the only man to unify two titles. That particular win made him one of the top stars in Japanese wrestling.

Another monumental win I can never forget is when my favourite tag team wrestlers the Usos won both the Smackdown and the Raw tag team championships and successfully unified it in honor of their somoan family and their tribal chief Roman Reigns.

Although they had a little help from Roman in beating Riddle and Randy Orton, it was a very epic match.

These recent championship wins were not just about titles but also about telling great stories and connecting with fans all over the world. These very epic wrestling moments will be remembered and celebrated by wrestling fans for a very long time.
