I have had the drive shaft cable snap several times, probably overloaded....

My garden is a long work-in-progress, and the terrain is very rough, therefore I'm only buying entry level Bosch trimmers at promo prices (I always get new ones under 100 USD with 2 years warranty), and then I use them till end of life. The last one lasted 2.5 years - and I'm happy that I could repair it myself with pieces from the previous one.
That’s the way to get your money’s worth!😊

So many people would just toss it, not many try to repair anything anymore!🤔
