Beautiful and Sublime Sunday- Back to Work

Good day, guys!

This post is for #SublimeSunday which is initiated by @c0ff33a and #BeautifulSunday which is initiated by @ace108.

My long vacation was finally done, and I just got back to work yesterday. Before sleeping I was helping my classmate with her CV because I had a laptop. After finishing it, I ended up using my phone a bit and slept around 2 in the morning. I woke from the blowing cold of the aircon. I was also dreaming, and then my alarm suddenly rang. I had no choice but to force myself up. I'm actually not used to waking up that early.

I then got ready for work, walked to the bus stop, and saw familiar faces that I hadn't seen for a long time. Then rode the bus and watched an online mass during the commute. I miss the days when I could go to church physically but work happened. Five stops before the Metro Station, we were stopped by the RTA, to check our nol cards, it took a long because he finished the bus in front of us before checking ours. I noticed they have been active lately, I got checked twice yesterday while going to work and coming home. I then reached the metro station took the train to the next stop and walked to the bus that brought me to work.

I got to the clinic and was just waiting for my patient. While waiting I submitted the CV to my boss. Then one doctor endorsed my first patient, who had a lot of injuries. It just seems so weird because he is really active but he couldn't sit for a long time. He's my very first patient who was so sensitive to the shockwave therapy machine, wherein I had to use the lowest intensity, so he wouldn't feel as much pain. The second patient was just endorsed to me, he is a kid who is suffering from groin pain, he just feel stiffness from it, so I advised him to stretch some more.

My next patient was endorsed to me, he had a laminectomy last 2020 but he still feels pain in his lower back. I feel bad for him because he started limiting his movements and stopped carrying heavy things, I had to tell him something about gradual exposure wherein, he should expose himself to actions that he wants to do gradually so his body will be able to adapt to it.

The doctor endorsed to me a patient, and I asked what he was doing and he said that he put up his own business after working for 17 years in a company. I was really proud of what he did and was just motivating him to continue on the path of his goals. We were just speaking about life and he was telling me how the kids these days are spoiled. I was also shocked by the school system because children now are required to bring a tablet to school for learning and his kid is just 9, he told me he didn't want to expose his children to gadgets at a really early age.

My next patient was late, but luckily my schedule was a bit free during his time. He was telling me his life story and told me that he lived in many countries already but he said Dubai has been so kind to him. He stayed here for 9 years. He told me that he met his wife when they were in Saudi. They're really lucky because the wife was promoted to go to the Netherlands, and I was happy for him but he was telling me things about uncertainties and going back to zero when they transferred there, but I was also helping him to look at the bigger picture. I also can relate to him because I'll be migrating to a different country soon, and my time here is already limited. I was waiting for my next patient when suddenly the doctor came with a patient, but I could only treat him for 10 minutes because the receptionist called that my next patients arrived.

My next patients were a couple. I treated the husband first, and he was complaining about his left shoulder pain and limitation because he got hit during a basketball game. He was telling me about their hardships before especially with his wife who had two miscarriages, but right now, they are happy because they've been blessed with 2 kids. I then treated the wife, and she opened up more and we were just speaking about life, she told me that she's really lucky with her husband because he's hardworking and patient. She also told me that even though she had those miscarriages that didn't stop her faith, she told me that they even became more faithful during that event. She was telling me that whenever she encounters problems she would just think of a war wherein they always send their bravest warriors. I really loved her mindset and personality. I then took lunch after treating them.

After lunch, I had to treat a mother and son. I treated the son first, I'm happy that he's also progressing in life and that, with how he speaks and his actions his parents brought him upright. He'll be heading to college in the US. I then treated the mom and we were just catching up, though I feel bad for her because her pain is becoming worse. I think her stress is getting worse, I hope that she'll be able to find an outlet for it and hopefully, she won't get too worried about life. It was nice catching up with them.

My next patient was a patient whom I treated a long time back. I remember I was in my first few months in the clinic when I treated him. I'm glad that he's not feeling the same pain as before. It's mostly stiffness now. It was really nice also speaking with him, but what stuck with me the most was that he told me that we should always be patient with our partners.

I thought I was free already because I treated him til 7 p.m. until one nurse told me that I had to treat 2 patients. I treated them both at the same time. One was a Filipino who had been here for 15 years, and she was telling me that she couldn't sleep well because all that she was thinking about was work, I was telling her that she should prioritize her health first. The next was a guy from Pakistan and he had been here since 2009, he was telling me how it was and he said that he was applying to get a tourist visa in Canada. Hopefully, he'll be approved. I finished treating them and I rushed out so I could catch the next bus. I then rode the bus that goes to the mall.

I decided to eat at the outskirts of the mall. I was watching a video about biryani, so I craved it and I was able to satisfy my cravings. I was thinking of going to the mall but I got really lazy. So I decided to wait for the bus that goes straight to our place. I took that bus and was just listening to podcasts but I was really sleepy, I was taking naps in between the bus rides. I finally got home and I called my girlfriend and then washed up and finished writing this.

It was a really nice day, though I feel like my social battery is really low from all the treatment. I hope all is well with you! May you enjoy the rest of September!

It sounds like you had another busy day at work, but you made the most of it! You have true ability to connect with your patients on a personal level and to provide them with not only physical therapy but also emotional support.

That's really true, busy but fulfilling. I really love connecting with people because they all have different stories to tell. The best part is that you get to learn from them. Pain is a really complex subject, and I know that I should always treat my patients with empathy and compassion.

Thank you so much for dropping by and leaving a really nice comment! Have a great day!
