The Support The Sound initiative was kickstarted by Basement (New York) and Bassiani (Tbilisi), assembling a global network of members consisting of Dekmantel (Amsterdam), Fuse (Brussels), 6AM Group (Los Angeles), Synthetik Minds (Los Angeles), Vault Sessions (Amsterdam), Wire Festival (New York), and WOMB (Tokyo). I love seeing such initiatives and I support them. Recent outcries by artists and producers about unfair revenue sharing bring such initiatives to the fore and clearly reveal how much they are needed. Many people think that artists and producers earn a lot of money, whereas many of the real heroes do not earn enough and some even struggle to make ends meet. Considering very popular artists, yes they earn a lot, but it is not possible to say the same for heroes who are not popular and do not appear in social media and magazines. The slogan on the Support The Sound website says it all: "Without producers, our dancefloors would be silent"

Representing a wealth of experience spanning decades across all facets of the event industry, we're joining forces under the Support The Sound initiative. We are dedicated to the core values of fairness, solidarity, and empowerment. We have witnessed significant changes in our industry, where the role of music producers has been marginalized and undervalued. Without their fair compensation, the vitality and sustainability of our entire industry is at risk.

As Support The Sound, we want to proactively establish a new booking approach where DJ earnings from performances at our events are distributed fairly. We believe it's necessary that DJs recognize and share with the artists whose music fuels their sets.

We have chosen to launch this initiative using Aslice, as their revenue-sharing service aligns with our vision. With its community-connecting platform, Aslice allows working DJs to share earnings directly with the music producers they play at paid gigs.

Without music, life would be truly unbearable, so I think we should support artists, producers, and even everyone who is interested in music and contributes great works to the music world. That's why I will write more about such initiatives in the coming days and do my best to make them heard more. I am not an artist or producer, but I am a music lover.

Music is powerful enough to change lives. Enjoy the music and stay with Love.

Question of the Day : What do you think about Support The Sound and similar initiatives? If you don't have an answer to this question, You can talk about your favorite song or anything related to music in your comment.

I think it's a good initiative but I don't know what the fair compensation would be.

Congratulations @stamato! Count me in for another round, please! Thank you so very much!

While I do think that musicians (or anyone) should be paid well for what they give and their contributions, I don't believe that regulations or forced payment are the way to go. Making DJs (most of those I know do not have a lot of money) pay the arists directly for the music that they use in their sets would not be a very good thing at all for the DJs. 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙
