Battle Mage Secrets Weekly Challenge! Explosive Weaponry Ruleset | Splinterlands

avatar

Hello everyone, Welcome to my Battle Mage Secrets post. In this post, I will talk about the Explosive Weaponry Ruleset and one of my different strategies that works best in this ruleset. I hope it will be useful for you.

Explosive Weaponry

In battles with the Explosive Weaponry Ruleset, all Monsters gain the Blast Ability. And Monster with the Blast Ability does additional damage to monsters adjacent to the target monster. Additional damage is equivalent to main damage divided by 2, rounded up.

Monsters with the Reflection Shield Ability do not take damage from Blast. That's why, in battles with the Explosive Weaponry Ruleset, I make sure to add a Monster with the Reflection Shield Ability to my lineup to absorb blast damage and protect my team's backline. Additionally, including a Monster with the Taunt Ability in your lineup can give your team an advantage and prevent your strategy from being disrupted by your opponents. In addition, including abilites such as Snipe and Opportunity Abilites that can target your opponent's backline in your linup can provide a great advantage to your team because a single hit from them can cause damage to 3 monsters at once.

In my previous post, I talked about this and a battle that supports this strategy. If you want to take a look, click here.

In this post, I will talk about a different strategy in the Explosive Weaponry Ruleset. Blast Ability is one of my favorite abilities, so I can say that I love the Explosive Weaponry Ruleset. I have a lot of different strategies for battles with the Explosive Weaponry ruleset, and I can say that I choose any one of them based on my opponent and battle rulesets, and most of them work really well. I will talk about one of them in this battle, I hope it will be useful for you.

Battle Ruleset

  • Explosive Weaponry: All Monsters have the Blast ability.

Blast Ability : Does half damage (rounded up) to Units adjacent to the target Unit.

MY STRATEGY & LINE UP

The battle only had the Explosive Weaponry Ruleset, and all monsters in this battle would have the Blast Ability. Before starting the battle, when I reviewed the recent 5 battles of the opponent player, I predicted that the opposing player would prefer Scarred Llama Mage as Summoner and Monsters with Heal Ability. It is really difficult to defeat such combinations, but with a good strategy it is not difficult to defeat them.

First of all, I will put Quora Towershead, who has Bloodlust and Heal Abilities, in the first position. I will put Monsters with Martyr Ability in the second and third positions. If my strategy works the way I want it to, if they die in turn, Quora Towershead will get +1 to all stats twice. And in the fourth position, I will put Venator Kinjo with Reflection Shield Ability. And thanks to the Reflection Shield Ability, blast damage will be absorbed and the monster in the last two positions will be protected.

I will talk about the details of my strategy, my team's lineup and why I prefer other monsters below.

LINE UP

Summoner : LOBB LOWLAND

Lobb Lowland is an Earth Summoner that allows the use of one additional Gladiator card, and reduces the speed of all enemy monsters by 1. I can say that I chose Lobb Lowland as the summoner so that I can use my Quora Towershead card. Additionally, thanks to Lobb Lowland, the speed of all enemy monsters will be reduced by -1.

Position 1: QUORA TOWERSHEAD

Quora Towershead is a Earth Gladiator that can attack the target with both Magic Attacks and Melee Attacks and has Bloodlust Ability and Heal Ability at level 2. And I put Quora Towershead in the first position. I would also put Monsters with Martyr Ability in the second and third positions, which meant Quora Towershead could get +1 to all stats 2 times if my strategy worked the way I wanted.

  • Bloodlust Ability : This Monster revels in the glory of combat and becomes more dangerous as the battle goes on. Every time it defeats an opponent, it gets +1 to all stats.
  • Heal Ability : Restores a third of max health to this Unit's health each round.

Position 2: VENARI MARKSRAT

Venari Marksrat is a Neutral Monster that can attack the target with a ranged attack and has Martyr Ability and Snare Ability at level 5. The most important reason why I added Venari Marksrat to my team in this battle was because it has the Martyr Ability, and I put Venari Marksrat in the second position next to Quora Towershead. Thanks to blast damage, Venari Marksrat would be easily destroyed, and once Venari Marksrat died, Quora Towershead would get +1 to all stats.

  • Martyr Ability : When this Unit dies, adjacent Units get +1 to all stats.
  • Snare Ability : When attacking enemies with Flying, removes the Flying ability and cannot miss.

Position 3: FUNGUS FLINGER

Fungus Flinger is a Earth Monster that can attack the target with a ranged attack and has Martyr Ability and Blind Ability from level 5. The reason I added Fungus Flinger to my team was pretty much the same as why I added Venari Marksrat. Additionally, it had the Blind Ability, which could give my team a great advantage in this battle. And I put Fungus Flinger in the third position and it would be the target of blast damage after Venari Marksrat died.

  • Martyr Ability : When this Unit dies, adjacent Units get +1 to all stats.
  • Blind Ability : All enemy Melee & Ranged attacks have a 15% higher chance of missing their target.

Position 4: VENATOR KINJO

Venator Kinjo is an Neutral Monster that can attack the target with a Melee Attack and has Reflection Shield Ability, Camouflage Ability, and Immunity Ability at level 2. I put the Venator Kinjo in the second position and since it has the Reflection Shield Ability, it would absorb the blast damage and the monster in the last two positions will be protected. Although Venator Kinjo cannot attack except from the first position, having the Reflection Shield Ability provides a great advantage in battles with the Explosive Weaponry ruleset.

  • Reflection Shield Ability : This Unit doesn't take damage from Blast, Magic Reflect, Thorns, or Return Fire.
  • Camouflage Ability : This Unit cannot be directly targeted for attacks unless it's in the first position.
  • Immunity Ability : This unit is immune to negative status effects.

Position 5: QUEEN MYCELIA

Queen Mycelia is an Earth Monster that can attack the target with a Magic Attack and has Protect Ability and Amplify Ability at level 2. I thought it would be advantageous for all the monsters in my team to have extra armor in this battle, so I added Queen Mycelia to my team, and since Queen Mycelia has the Protect Ability, all the monsters in my team will have extra +2 armor in this battle. And I put Queen Mycelia in the fifth position.

  • Protect Ability : All friendly Units gain +2 Armor.
  • Amplify Ability : Increases Magic Reflect, Return Fire, and Thorns damage to all enemy units by 1.

Position 6: GOBLIN PSYCHIC

Goblin Psychic is an Earth Monster that can attack the target with Magic Attacks and has Tank Heal Ability and Affliction Ability from level 4. The most important reason why I added Goblin Psychic to my team is that it has the Tank Heal Ability. And I put Goblin Psychic in the last position.

  • Tank Heal Ability : Restores a third of max health to the Unit in the first position each round.
  • Affliction Ability : When this Unit hits a target, it has a 50% chance of applying Affliction on the target causing it to be unable to be healed.

I am very confident in this strategy in such battles, but if the opponent player prefers Monsters with Sneak Ability, this strategy may not work very well, however I can say that it is a strategy that works very well against Monsters with Opportunity Ability and Snipe Ability too.

BATTLE COMMENTS

You can watch the entire battle from the video or from the Battle Link

To be honest, the opponent player's strategy was also quite good. It was wise to put Monsters with Heal Ability in both the first position and use the Martyr Ability in the last position. However, being able to predict the opposing player's strategy will disrupt the opponent's plans, and that is why I attach great importance to reviewing my opponents' recent battles before starting the battle.

Round 1

In the first round, all monsters with attacks hit their target, except Earth Elemental, but no monsters could be destroyed. It was also smart for the opposing player to put Failed Summoner with the MAgic Reflect Ability in the second position, and my strategy could have been disrupted if the opposing player had included the Triage and Amplify abilities in their lineup, but fortunately they did not use them.

Round 2

At the beginning of the second round, Quora Towershead destroyed Failed Summoner with blast damage, thus getting +1 to all stats. Additionally, Flesh Golem destroyed Venari Marksrat with blast damage, thus, Quora Towershead got +1 to all its stats for the second time. Also, Goblin Psychic destroyed Khmer Princess. At the end of the second round, while 2 monsters from the opposing team were destroyed, Venari Marksrat from my team was destroyed.

Round 3

At the beginning of the third round, Quora Towershead destroyed Flesh Golem and got +1 to all its stats again. And Kron the Undying destroyed Fungus Flinger with blast damage effect, and Quora Towershead once again got +1 to all stats. Quora Towershead had become more dangerous to enemies with its increased stats, and its attacks were now much more brutal. Additionally, Venator Kinjo moved to the second position, which meant that the blast damage would now be absorbed and my team's backline was protected. At the end of the third round, 2 more monsters from the opposing team were destroyed, while Fungus Flinger from my team was destroyed.

Round 4

At the beginning of the fourth round, Quora Towershead destroyed the opposing team's Venari Marksrat with the effect of blast damage, and Quora Towershead once again got +1 to all stats. And Kron the Undying was the last monster left on the opposing team, which now had the Last Stand Ability. However, Kron the Undying gaining the Last Stand Ability would not be enough to win this battle because it was now very difficult to survive against Quora Towershead's attacks.

Round 5

At the beginning of the fifth round, Quora Towershead brutally attacked Kron the Undying, easily destroying it, and my team managed to win this battle.

The battle lasted 5 rounds and at the end of the battle, while all the monsters on the opposing team were destroyed, Venari Marksrat and Fungus Flinger were destroyed on my team, and their destruction was already part of my strategy. Additionally, It was notable that by the end of the battle, Quora Towershead had 8 Melee Attacks, 8 Magic Attacks, 9 Speed, 4 Armor, and 18 Health, indicating that my strategy worked quite well in this battle.I can say that using Quora Towershead and Monsters with Martyr Ability works very well in such battles, especially against monsters that attack the first position, and this battle was one of the best examples of this. I recommend you to watch this very interesting and challenging battle from the Battle Link. I hope you will like it.
