Hidden costs of buying your first home

Hello!

Last year I bought my first home, I could say that a dream came true. My biggest dream was finally in my hands and I couldn't be more happy. The second I signed the mortgage documents I started thinking on how I could pay it off earlier.

As I moved there with my girlfriend, we also started looking for inspiration on how should we decorate the apartment. It was empty, except for some appliances like the fridge, oven, etc.
8 months later we still have to buy a lot of things.

The carpenter has to make our office, they are full of work so I've been waiting for more than a month.
I also have to pay for a new TV as the one I have is small and old, I also have to pay for a sunshade, grass for the terrace, flowers, and a mosquito net. All of this will cost almost $10,000 more.
I am tired to pay, there are a lot of hidden costs associated when you buy a house if you want it to look perfect.

I also have a friend that bought the house at the same time as me. I've been talking to him this afternoon and he said the exact same thing. He had a lot more costs than he anticipated.

I hope all will be paid and finished in 1 year, step by step, one dollar at a time.

Have a nice day!

Dp you live in the US? I hear that owning a house comes with unexpected expenses, 10k is a lot of money, but maybe the expenses will be worth it long-term.

Nope! I live in Europe @josediccus. Some of the expenses are really expensive, like a handmade wood desk for 2 people plus 3 storage units also made of wood. The grass for the terrace is also expensive and they add up.

They will be worth if I decide to pay for durable and better stuff than low-quality materials that will break in 5-10 years.
