Weekend Engagement - Work Hard and Relax Hard?

Where on the workaholic or relaxaholic spectrum are you?

Hmm I did some pondering over this and I actually think it is possible to be both a workaholic and relaxaholic. In short, I think I work hard and play hard.

How so?

During office hours, I am a workaholic, striving to complete tasks and meet deadlines. If there is a need to stay back late in the evenings or work during weekends (not often thankfully) to clear urgent work, I would be around. I think there is this sense of responsibility within me that I should make sure that I do my best for the team and organisation.

During my non-working hours, which would be the evenings and weekends, I am a relaxaholic. I make it a point to relax, whether is it engaging in some form of exercise, or going for a massage, or simply just chilling at a cafe and let the day go by. Maybe that's how I cope with stress, i.e. I need to find outlets to relax so that I can go into a new work week feeling recharged again.

Hmm is it a vicious cycle? Maybe. But ultimately, working pays the bills and mortgage so there's no escape from this. I think a better question to ask ourselves or probably just myself is whether we are happy with our current lives. And for me, I think generally it is good and I currently have managed to find a good balance between working hard and playing hard, because as with most things, it's not always healthy to be on extreme sides. (I used to be more workaholic, and would sacrifice missing out gatherings with family and friends when work requires me, but over time, I think it's better to set some life and work boundaries.)
