Hello there! It's my 3rd post in the Pinmapple community and thanks for reading this!

As background, I have done a few overseas trips last year, as some of my friends here would know, and I have been wanting to share some of the interesting places that I have visited. However, life has been busy and I have been procrastinating penning these entries and recently, I revisited this target of mine and finally broke the inertia!

One of my memorable trips in 2023 was to Tokyo, Japan, and during that trip, I did quite a few day trips to nearby cities and towns. Earlier this week, I wrote about visiting the peaceful Karuizawa, and today, I am going to share about Atami! Because there were quite a lot of stuff to see in Atami, this post will be split into two parts!

We set off early in the morning the next day because the train ride from Tokyo to Atami was almost 2 hours. When we arrived, we took a local sightseeing bus and went all the way uphill. There, we were greeted with this magnificent sight! If you google Atami, this is likely the picture you would see! Blue skies, blue waters, with hills and buildings. It's definitely something that I never get to see in my country so it's mesmerising to me.

We walked to the other side of the hill and there, we were greeted with the sea that looked so calm and peaceful. I really enjoyed taking these photos and admiring the scenic views. That said, the weather was pretty hot - but that's good for taking photos!

Then we made our way back to the popular tourist attraction, Atami Castle. Not only did the castle look majestic, the greenery and the background just made the whole place look so much better.

Here's one more look from the hill, before we proceeded to make our way down!

There was this gondola which visitors can take to descend the hill. The wait was pretty short and the journey was smooth! The second photo gave a sense of the height difference/distance to the bottom of the hill. Does this look high to you? Haha.

With our stomachs rumbling, we headed to look for lunch and also to get a well deserved soak at one of the local onsens!

With that, that's all for my sharing for Part 1 for Atami today, and do look forward to Part 2 and my travels to other places around Japan! Also, let me know in the comments if you have been to Atami, and what are your thoughts about this place?

Finally, thanks for reading my third post in the community! More to come I promise! :)

P.S. I have also tried to document my posts in one table so it's easy to reference too!
