Guild Brawls With Pizza 2 - I Did My Best But... :(

Time flies! Just completed the 71st brawl with my awesome guild, which is none other than Pizza 2 The Deep Dish!

  • Fun In The Discord Chats

Really appreciated the interaction in the Discord chats within the Pizza guilds. During the preparation phase, there's a lot of information sharing and discussion on who to fill each fray. During the brawls, there were reminders to members to complete their brawl battles. And after the brawls, there were celebratory messages and some members (including me) would write about our experience in the brawls. Aside from brawls, I thought the donations were also very well organised and tabulated, with lucky draws to incentivise donors as well.

  • Staying In Bronze Fray

For this brawl, I decided to stick to what I fought in the last fray, which was Fray 6, which was 3/2/2/1. I felt I was starting to find my grove and this fray is neither too difficult nor too easy for me.

Had 8 battles this time and it was not an easy round, especially when they have recently introduced 3 rulesets for each battle. Moreover, I have rented out most of my cards because I was playing lesser these days.

  • We Got 6th!

So for the final result, we were 2nd out of 10 guilds and got 431 Merits and around 6 SPS! That's one of our lowest positions for a guild brawl as far as I could remember.

Individually, I had 8 fights this time and I won 7 of them! Finished 1st within the guild, but the disappointment is real. :(

Let's jump into the battles!

Battle 1 - WIN

Gladius Card Used: Relenor Cleaver

Brighton Bloom made all the difference in this Earthquake battle. Kulu Mastermind also proved worthy of its Legendary status with Weapons Training ability. All in all, a strong fight and a good win to kick start the brawl.

Battle 2 - WIN

Gladius Card Used: Isgald Vorst

I never fought a battle with Rebirth before and that was a brand new ruleset for me. I was intimidated by my opponent's lineup and thought there was no chance for me. The opposing Uriel was so tough to take out with 9 armor and 10 HP. I struggled, huffed and puffed, and somehow I won this battle of 14 rounds! Thanks to Isgald Vorst for being able to clock 4 Bloodlust and carried my team to the finish line.

Battle 3 - WIN

Gladius Card Used: Captain Katie

This all went wrong for my opponent. It was a weak lineup and fielding Ranged cards in a Return Fire battle was always either a mistake or a bad gamble. It was an easy win for me for this battle.

Battle 4 - WIN

Gladius Card Used: None

A restrictive triple ruleset and 15 mana meant I had to be creative in my lineup. I went for speed and Magic because there was Blast. Djinn Inferni's 3 Magic damage proved critical and made the difference.

Battle 5 - WIN

Gladius Card Used: Katrelba Gobson and Bertrol Gobson

Another low mana battle with Rebirth ruleset. I gambled with 2 Gladius cards and it paid off. Katrelba Gobson was able to clock more Bloodlust due to resurrection and it seemed that Gladius cards (or cards with Bloodlust) are preferred for Rebirth battles.

Battle 6 - WIN

Opponent fled! Free win!

Battle 7 - LOSE

Gladius Card Used: Gorth and Chimney Wallstop

I fielded a very strong Fire lineup but all the effort went to the drain when my opponent had Quora Towershead. All the hits were not enough to overcome. Oh well.

Battle 8 - WIN

Gladius Card Used: Whistling Damon

When I play Astral Entity and the opponent does not put a Magic lineup, I know my chances of winning are high. Astral Entity's Dodge and Resurrect abilities will always be a big challenge for non-Magic lineups and this was the case here as well. All 6 cards remained standing at the end of the battle even though my opponent put out a decent lineup. Credit to Astral Entity working behind the scenes with the misses.

So that sums up my 8 battles for this brawl! 88% win rate and what is more satisfying is that I achieved it through using different elements (Fire, Death, Earth, Life) and not just winning through Water lineups only.

The Merits are coming in fast and I have enough Merits for my 33rd Gladius case! Nothing much to see here, just a normal pack of stuff. Haha.
