Battle Mage Secrets - The Summoner With Flying Powers

image.png

The theme for the current "Battle Mage Secret" challenge is Fog Of War ruleset this time! This means sll units have the Fury ability. Think carefully before including a unit with Taunt in your lineup as they will take double damage from units with Fury.

It's not always easy to get the specific ruleset, but if you play hard enough, you definitely can find one! This time I was lucky enough to have one - woohoo!

So here's the interesting battle that I encountered.

Anyway, I thought it would be still be interesting to introduce some useful cards and show how their strengths can be maximised especially with a particular ruleset. In this post, the featured card is an Rare Dragon Summoner, Brighton Bloom!

How many of you actually know about this card? With so many new cards, Brighton Bloom seems to be forgotten for having this amazing ability of Flying! This applies to the entire lineup and is extremely useful for Earthquake battles. I always say, with Brighton Bloom for Earthquake battles, half the battle is already won.

As usual, here's the lore for Brighton Bloom for your reading interest:

Brighton was an eccentric young man of Shimmer City, the capital of Khymeria. He was always seen as a strange character among the Khymian summoners. In the best times, his peers thought he was simply a distraction from their important studies. In the worst times, his fellow summoners doubted and belittled Brighton's abilities. They were also put off by the way birds always landed on his hands and shoulders. After just two years studying at the Shimmer summoning school, Brighton decided to leave Khymeria. His loyalty was available to the highest bidder, and that is where the Dragons came in.

The Gloridax cared not for Brighton's strange idiosyncrasies; what mattered to them was his skills as a summoner. Furthermore, in Gloridax eyes oneness with birds has long been considered a sign of divinity. Brighton's attraction to birds was quickly noticed by Suam Khepri, Empress of the United Gloridax, who assigned a team of aerial sorcerers to properly train the young man. When Brighton emerged from that training, he could grant the power of flight to any monster under his summoning control.

Battle Type & Team Lineup

PositionCard/LevelMana
SummonerBrighton Bloom4

An Earthquake ruleset in the battle means Brighton Bloom will be the default summoner. I seldom see players use Brighton Bloom and I always wonder why.

PositionCard/LevelMana
1Forgotten One9

Forgotten One was my tank for this battle. I actually am not too sure why I settled on it, on hindsight, maybe Djinn Chwala would be a decent choice too. Haha. In any case, Forgotten One is a strong card outside of Poison battles.

PositionCard/LevelMana
2Dhampir Infiltrator4

I have intended my lineup to be focused on Melee damage and Dhampir Infiltrator is a useful Dragon Melee card. Haven't used this card for a long while so let's see.

PositionCard/LevelMana
3Scavo Hireling3

Scavo Hireling is chosen to Repair Forgotten One's armor and prolong the tank's survivability, as my backline is relatively weak.

PositionCard/LevelMana
4Vruz1

Vruz is also a card that I rarely use but in this card, he finds myself in the lineup as a filler card.

PositionCard/LevelMana
5Naga Assassin2

Rounding up the backline would be Naga Assassin. Hopefully her high speed of 5 will have some protection for the backline for potential Sneak attacks.

  • Pre Battle: When both lineups came out, I saw at I was up against a Level 3 summoner. Both teams didn't field any Taunt cards and let's see if Brighton Bloom can outlast my opponent!
    image.png
  • Round 1: I was quickly down to 3 cards as my opponent didn't hold back on the damage output. It could have worse if Naga Assassin didn't take in a miss. Definitely not looking good.
    image.png
  • Round 2: If there was a bet going on for this battle, my odds to win would probably be 100 to 1 or something. I was down to my last card and can only pray that Earthquake could help me.
    image.png
  • Round 3: Earthquake came and took out another 2 cards from my opponent. Suddenly I have a chance!
    image.png
  • Round 4: Another round of Earthquake and we were down to 1 vs 1. I think I could win this one?
    image.png

  • Round 5: And we did it! Forgotten One outlasted the entire set of cards on the board!

Post Battle

Did my strategy work? Brighton Bloom is the strategy, and although the ending was nervy, and I could have lost.. I still made it in the end. And it was Level 1 summoner vs Level 3 summoner. So that's way above expectations.

What's the Battle Mage Secret? Half the battle is won when you use Brighton Bloom for Earthquake battles!

So that's all I have! What are your takeaways from this battle? Feel free to comment below, as I am always keen to learn and improve!

As always, thanks for reading and have a pleasant day ahead!

Peace
The latest town hall recap showed interesting development about the grain official market.
Thank you for your publication
I am in the leaderboard but far from the top 200. I like the Halving ability. It is really helpful.
Are you stocking grain or just selling on the p2p market?
