Travel by Metro Train to Chandni Chowk

Hello and Namaste to everyone,

It's the weekend and today is Saturday. It's been a long time since I traveled through the metro train. I mean to say the last I did travel in Metro was before the COVID pandemic. It is fun travelling in Metro but it's been a couple of years for me I did not travel because of my phone situation. First, it was not allowed to travel with a crowd, and later on because of my medical situation I was not allowed to travel so altogether this became a long time.

Today I had a plan to visit Chandni Chowk for some work and this place is in Delhi. This is a market which you can say is highly crowded but you can get a lot of things over there so I thought of using the Metro train to travel there rather than availing the taxi. Metro is a convenient option but now there is enough crowd and because of this if you travel for long distances and don't get a seat then its a problem. especially in my case because I have a 1-year baby and I can't stand for long so I decided to catch the train from the first station. There is a high chance of getting the seat from the first station in Gurugram.

I thought that it was weekend time so very less people would be traveling but I was wrong. Because I don't travel regularly I have no smart card and I had to buy a token. There was a queue and fortunately, I got the preference to get a ticket faster because of the small baby. Even after this, I had to spend about 15 minutes there to get the ticket and now you can assume how much time one has to stand in a queue to get the ticket. They should make some online arrangements for easy ticketing now.

There were some stores that are offering nice discounts but I could not check out as I was late so after getting the ticket I just entered the station.

The platform here is on the second floor and after a security check, I reached there which took about 5 minutes max. By the time I could reach at the platform, the train was gone and for the next, there was a gap of 10 minutes. They reduce frequency over the weekend I guess but I am not sure.

My kid wanted to play on the floor but I did not allow him so he started playing with me..lol 😂

Finally, another train came and since this was the last station of the yellow line whatever train came was moved to the other side of the platform and started again.

This yellow line has two types of trains ( 6 coaches and 8 coaches) so they have numbers on the trains. As you can see 8 on this train so this train has got 8 coaches.

The train was crowded but I got the seat and there is no photography allowed inside the train so I did not click any photos. I was able to find the seat so it was a comfortable ride for me.

I reached Chandni Chowk station and it rained there. When it rains traffic is the biggest problem in Delhi and because this market is already crowded and it becomes even difficult. You can see how cars are parked outside the metro station. No discipline at all in this car park and because of this people face problems.

It was not easy to walk because of waterlogging and I took a rickshaw to reach the place I wanted to go. I have chosen the wrong day to fo this market as the rain made it worse. I used the same ricksaw to go this and comeback which saved my time and because my kid was crying I could not take photos in the market.

I spent about 1.5 hours in the market and came back to the metro station. This is the entry gate of the metro station for Chandni Chowk. I have visited this market (Chandni Chowk) so many times and it's fun but because of rain and water logging it was not good at all.

I somehow finished my work and came back but if you visit this market in normal weather then you will enjoy it and maybe if I visit later in better weather then will share more about this market. It was a fun ride traveling in the metro after a long time and I will be trying to travel quite often.

Awww! Your baby is so cute🥰 you really had a long day traveling to Chandni Chowk. However, the ticketing lines is quite long, I was just wondering how you had to cope with it with your baby. Instead of having long ques for ticketing, It will be better for them to have a website online where you can just go and get your ticket because some people might be too old to stand on the long que

I waited in the queue for about 15 minutes but then I was given preference because of baby. They should definitely build some online system to get the tickets and it's quite inconvenient.
Glad you like photos. Thanks

That was quite a trip and you had a lot to deal with. Hopefully next time it won't be raining. Thanks for sharing the great pics, especially the ones of you and your kid! :)
