Thinking about upgrading my Credit card

Hello and Namaste Everyone

I hope many of you will be using credit cards or debit cards. Now we do multiple transactions online and a card is a necessity to perform the transactions For example we buy things from grocery websites then also according necessary. now in India, we have multiple options with wallets that can also be used with those websites but I still think credit card is a better help because we get multiple benefits with this. The wallet is also good because we can make the payment without sharing any information about the card or bank account. The safety far card credential is very important and with wallets, it is really useful.

Some people use debit card which is also known as ATM card and I don't think it is match beneficial since we are using our own money for the transactions. I like using credit cards because I can use the money or a type of limit that is decided by the bank. There are 45 days including thirty days for the billing cycle and fifteen days for paying it back.

With credit cards, we get reward points and certain other benefits on different shopping portals. sometimes Amazon and Big Basket websites run promotions and offer some discounts to HDFC card members. I use The credit card issued by HDFC Bank which is one of the biggest private sector banks in India. it does not matter whether you are using a card from the government or a private bank. You will be getting more offers from the private bank comparatively but government banks are not very active in terms of promotions and offers. some of my friends are using and they always keep on complaining that there is no offer but I get plenty of offers from my bank from time to time. If I make the payment to my bank for my credit card outstanding within the due date hen there are no extra charges applied by them.

I get 45 days to repay the amount I spent and the bank also rewards me with some reward points. The good thing about my card is that I can redeem these points against the outstanding so I continue to accumulate for a bigger amount and I do it probably once a year. this card is free for life and there are no annual or renewal charges applied which is another good thing in my case. The bank has also increased the credit limit recently but now they are offering me an upgrade to an even better card. Everything will remain the same including the limit and billing cycle etc. but there will be changes to the reward program.

I use only one card at the moment but usually, people use multiple credit cards because they get different benefits from different cards. I use credit cards but my use is limited which is mostly for buying groceries and household items and sometimes shopping when I find ongoing sales online and even offline. I don't know if I need to opt for the upgrade or not but I am thinking about it and if the new card can be better and more beneficial for me then I will think about it. one thing is confirmed I will not apply for any card that is charged on an annual basis because I don't feel it is good to get a card that charges me every year. it is better if I get another card with a free-for-life feature so there is no charge even if I don't use it. this card will be expiring next year so I have been using this for more than two years and usually in India cards are issued with 3 years life cycle for the next renewal.

Now the credit cards are smarter because I can make the payment by tapping on the machine. I get the control in the application to change the limit anytime and even I can switch on or off certain types of transactions within the mobile app. Now even the card numbers including CVV are printed on one side so it is good to use. this is also the reason why I could share the photo here it was not possible because the card number is sensitive information and must not be shared in the open domain.

Thank you so much
Stay Safe

Your detailed analysis of credit cards is insightful! It's important to choose one that aligns with your spending habits. Upgrade sounds like a good option if it offers better benefits.

HDFC should thank you for your free promotion 😄 just kidding.
Its good to know that people know so much about card and as i banker what i would like you to know is credit limit is the major factor of credit card including the rewards fuction that is cherry on top. And also there's obviously no need to pay for card as it generally offers what your past credit transactions suggest.
