Protection of Content and ideas in Digital World

We live in the real world but the digital world is also a bigger place now. Social media has become so big that people are spending so many hours every day to see what's happening around them. It is also important for us to have some existence on social media which can also be called a digital world. It is important because this way we can see how things are moving in the world and also keep us updated. No one available in the digital world needs to be a content creator. There are two types of people needed in this digital world. First is the content creator and another one is the person who consumes the content. If everyone just creates content then it is not valued because there are hardly people who will consume it.

Any author cannot feel motivated if there is no interaction on the content because this is what motivates the creators to do better. Nobody can continue to do the same job for a long time and this is why some sort of feedback and suggestions are needed from the community. I mean to say the community refers to the followers who read or consume the content and share their thoughts about it. Now if you also talk about intellectual property which is also a bigger subject in the digital world. Your idea can be considered an intellectual property. Even your digital footprint is your digital identity that can be misused by anyone in this digital world so we need to safeguard it.

People use images and videos available in open domain but that is not the right way. This is not the right way because it is someone's digital asset or can be called as intellectual property so we have no authority to use it unless it is specifically mentioned. Some people want to share intellectual property in the open domain and they want people to use it. In that case, it is fine because there is no legal complication on such type of stuff but in some of the cases that is not the case. I mean to say if we use the idea or anything that is available on the Internet but it is not created by us then it is wrong.

Your digital footprints can also be used for multiple purposes and sometimes we are not even aware of it. In the world of Web 2, this is a complicated subject but I think somehow Web 3 is trying to solve this problem. However, it is not solved completely because even there are some ways that people can follow to use other persons' digital assets. I mean if I keep a photo in social media then there is a possibility that somebody can use it. In Web 3 basically, some tools and teams are ensuring that people don't misuse the digital assets of other people. Surprisingly it does not happen in Web 2 and even censorship is the biggest challenge that creators face and sometimes they also lose access to their accounts. The new phase of the Internet which is called Web 3 is the best solution I believe for now and I hope that it will continue to better in the future.

As I said anything that you keep your stuff on the Internet over the open domain then it has the potential to be used by someone else. Your ideas can be stolen and even your digital content can also be stolen by someone else. I think as a responsible content creator we should not be doing this and we should always follow fair practice where if we are using something then we must credit the original owner for that. It is a respect that the original owner deserves and we should also be expecting similar practise from other creators but we need to set up an example before that.
