Learning Second Language (English)

Language is a medium to convey our thoughts and messages to other people. There are different languages in the world and it's always good to learn as much as possible because this is a type of value addition in our world of knowledge. Usually, people say that it's good to learn at least two languages. One can be our native language and on top of that one language is necessary that can help us a lot in work life. If I share my experience then Hindi is my native language and I learned English as an additional language which is helping me with my work.

I don't speak English at home and nobody does because there is no such environment where people talk English. Some people in my family are good in English but use Hindi to communicate with each other. Now because my son studies in an English medium school we sometimes try to speak in English to give him an environment. Because English is my second language I can't say that I'm a pro in English and I don't think I will ever become as pro in English as I am with Hindi. But it doesn't mean that I don't know English because I think my English is pretty good.

I believe that it's good to learn an additional language and it helps. English is a common language for work purposes because it is used on computers, so we need to have a good command of this language. Some people have a good command of different languages which can be their native language English and some other foreign languages like French or Mandarin etc. Even some people are good at regional languages which are regional languages like Hindi Urdu Punjabi and many more.

Learning never ends and even now I try to improve my English as much as possible. As I have already mentioned I'm not very good at English because this is not my first language but still I have worked hard to improve it. I'm still learning and will continue to do this because there is always room for improvement and I don't want to stop learning this language. Now with blogging it is even more improved and I feel more comfortable while writing or talking to people in the English language. My son is learning the French language these days and it's good because at least he will have some exposure to this foreign language and maybe it will help him in his career.

I believe that it's good to learn more languages but if in case anyone doesn't then it's not a problem because language is something that gives us more ways to express ourselves. If someone doesn't know multiple languages it is also fine because language does not represent the knowledge or skill level. I know some people who are not good at English but they are great in terms of knowledge and they have fantastic skills. Currently, I'm not planning to learn any additional languages but maybe in the future, I can think of something because learning is a process that should never end and if my schedule allows in the future I can surely think of learning another language and it can be French. This is also because my son can help me learn this language.
