The Problem with Crypto Skeptics and Why this is holding Back Technological Advancement

No matter how advanced a civilization gets, human nature will always exist. And that means that many emotions will prevail. Whatever development comes up, the skeptics will be present. This is especially strong in crypto. Nay-sayers are everywhere, as the skeptical nature of our fellow humans prevails. Luckily this doesn't bother me, and many probably share this feeling. This is because unlike the so-called MLM systems for example, I am not depended on someone joining the cause. Well, not directly at least, as eventual mainstream acceptance IS dependent actually.

When confronted with the workings of Hive or the immense marketcap of cryptocurrency as a whole, it is clearly evident that crypto and blockchain are not just a blimp on the radar, but major economic and technological factors to consider in our modern day world. And yet some are still screaming that it's all a scam and that everything will eventually crash. Why is that though? Are they not willing to admit they were wrong? It is normal for us as human beings to find it incredibly difficult to give in to a viewpoint that is different from ours. And the more we stand by our own theories, the more difficult it becomes over time to accept eventual disproval of our beliefs. Maybe this is also the reason religion has survived this long. Or believe in a certain political party. The doomed comfort zone can also be a reason, as many are scared of the unknown, even if it hits them in the face.

What can we learn from this? For one, we can learn to be open to information. Open to other viewpoints that may differ from our own. Be flexible, as the ability to adapt whenever a curveball is thrown your way is one of value. The tendency to not be willing to accept new information or change is a significant reason we are being held back in our technological advancements and the sooner we open our minds, the better.

Hey bro. Another great, thought provoking post. Resistance to change is definitely a human trait whether the thing we are resistant to is negative or positive.
As you know, acceptance of anything (good or bad) tends to come in stages even if it's a vaccine that is supposed to help us. There are so many factors that we rational beings consider before taking action as somehow we don't have the same level of access to the tools to make decisions and not all of us are trustworthy. So although there are great benefits to accept a new or old idea for that matter, some people will continue to be resistant. Again thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Funny you should mention the vaccine. That's an interesting example indeed. At first many were skeptical about it, but now 50% of the Suriname population is already vaccinated and more are following. Most people are followers, in more situations than one.

Wow! 50% is remarkable. Vaccinations just started this month in Japan. Considered a first world country but adoption of many things considered to be advanced takes a while.
