I Am Alive! 🌱

It was recently in the news here that a 12 year old girl in one of the cities took her own life. Yeah, definitely not a happy note to start on. I didn't know her or anything, but it did get me thinking about.. stuff. For one, why did she do it? According to the media she did it after her teacher told her she was dumb. But I'm going to take that with a grain, nay a spoon, of salt, because it's the media.

The media and society are quick to blame the teacher, while a smaller part of the population asks why the child had problems with a simple comment like that and if there wasn't more behind it and her life. So who was wrong? Was it the teacher? Or was it the parents for not teaching their daughter to be strong? I think both are at fault. Even though I tend to side more with that smaller part of society that wants to look at her upbringing.

A child's mind is like a piece of clay, waiting to be formed. If done wrong, this will be misshapen and very hard to change later on. Parents and or caretakers have the privilege of being responsible for this. To guide in such a way, that no negative thought or comment in the outside world would have much effect on a strong and well developed mind. She also needed to have someone she could open up to, but this was probably not the case. The teacher is also responsible for this, but that's what you get with a broken education system. More on that tomorrow.

As society we are also responsible, so be sure to give guidance where needed and set a good example for our young humans as they are supposed to be the future.

Now for an appropriate daily funny image to balance out all the drama.

Oh that is very sad and my heart goes out to the young girls family don't know where you are but I know that we had those also here in the USA but I don't think recently but maybe it's because I'm not paying attention through that part of the news I'm trying to think when I was 12 I know that my teachers never talk that way to me usually they just left me alone and I went to play at the ages. 💔

The way people act nowadays is very concerning. These kind of things are all around us, but usually we don't notice them that often.
I'm from Suriname by the way, which is somewhere in South-America.

The overall situation of society is very tragic indeed. But it's good to have a platform to talk about it.

Thanks for stopping by and have a good rest as well.

In fact it is a sad event to even hear. In this situation, the media and many people mainly point the finger at the teacher. Parents have the upper hand in shaping the minds of children, and then teachers will master it. Today, little children do something wrong without even caring about it. I had a similar example in my childhood. A friend of mine who had difficulty speaking was in our class. When our class teacher saw that the friend in question was having a hard time talking, he started making fun of him. At that time he had some negative feelings but gradually came forward learning. He always told us to give a good answer to the teacher's joke. Today he is at the forefront of being a good person in society. At that time the children had a different idea in their minds. Even the little lovers who are defeated by love today are tempted to commit suicide without proper understanding. Therefore, in such a society, as adults, everyone should be ready to make a child's mind.

You have understood perfectly what I was trying to say.
Your friend had gotten the right tools from his upbringing to deal with any external negativity and it only made him stronger and better in the end. If I ever have kids, I plan to teach them the same values.

It's sad to see young kids take their lives, and even though part of it was probably due to the teacher, to me this says that she was not able to reach out to the parents for help, that they had not built a relationship with her where she was free to come to them when having a problem, and that is even more sad, your kids needs to feel confident that they can open up to you as a parent.

And the cartoon, she was asking for it lol.

Very well said. This is the essence of a potential solution.

I remember that a sister of my good friend did the same, but she was a bit older... but, still a child... And as a father of 14 yo kid, when they get into puberty, weird things happen... Just a year-two ago I thought that my child has 100% trust in me, to find that today it's not like that...

We can blame school and education for everything, but it usually comes from the family... So, that's why I'm trying to fill that teenage head of my son that he can have trust and support from his parents whatever happens! He understands a bit, but who knows what is inside his head... Anyways, conversation with children is important, even if it looks like the words don't get to them... They do... maybe not ALL, but something does...

Raising a teenager sounds scary. I think a part of the problem is that parents now are trying to guide their children just as their parents did with them. Not realizing that the world has changed and that the parenting approach should change according to what the world is now.

I think that is exactly what you are trying to do, so that's good.

It's not that scary, but sometimes I'm worried about the level of confidence of my child... but that is probably normal for all parents... And I remember that my parents didn't give too much sh*t about my stuff, and I survived... So, I suppose that he will also...

On the other side, I agree that times are different now than they were 20-30 years ago... and children have different things that trigger their emotions... So, it has to be handled in a different way...
