Mental health is as importante as physical health

Mental health has always been important but I think this year is being looked at differently, with more importance and attention (and thankfully!). I think we have already overcome the idea that the body and mind are dissociated and in fact, affect each other. The body manifests repressed emotions - which are not seen and felt - through physical symptoms if we look at the area of psychosomatics. The unconscious and the nervous system are closely linked - and we question whether we are not talking about the same concept/area - if we study new theories and ideas that link psychoanalysis with neurosciences, for example.

Mental health matters as much as physical health and I question why it is so easy for us when we are physically ill to go to a doctor but, when we are suffering and emotionally unstable, we just find that with immediate and generalized little tips that surround us at less subjective and complex beings than we really are, we can “endure” this anguish and silence it. I realize (but I am revolted) that culturally, mental illness is still seen as weakness, as something that can be easily solved because it “is in our mind”, as if it were easy. It is not, and that is why it is so difficult to ask for help. I also notice that we focus more on the symptom and that, for this reason, we prefer more immediate responses than the camouflage such as medication and the techniques/tools that help us at that moment (which I sometimes assume is necessary), but that do not enable us to deal with with the real problem - the structure and elaboration, the ability to think about ourselves, about our emotions and demons.

My appeal is that you never stop asking for help, even if you feel the criticism of society on your shoulders and that it is easier to appear that everything is right. For men in particular, who are culturally taught to suppress what they feel because crying "is for girls", don't be afraid of your emotions, all of them and especially, asking for help. Mental illness is serious and can also kill.

But it's difficult for some people to acknowledge it and overcome the social stigma and search for care.
I glad that you're good now 🙂
