Farmers World: A dead game?

For the past few days, I have been exploring the Wax blockchain and found a token that exploded overnight. Poking around that token, I found that token belongs to the Play2Earn game "Farmers World". I log in to the game site, and the game page/ site looks cool. I decided to check the community in Discord so that I could find a way to get started in this game.

I headed towards Discord but and reached the Discord channel. I got the read access on the channel as it required phone number verification for full access, so I decided not to share my phone number. When I started reading the messages on Discord, I got the reality check it is more like an abandoned game now with no updates from Dev.

I started checking the Medium and Twitter accounts of the game and found that it had been more than 18 months since the game had given any kind of updates. Dev and team also is no longer giving any updates in Discord. Despite no updates in the game and no communication from the Dev team, there are still a few players who love to play this game. People need to calm down, Farmer's world is one of the best game right now, stop thinking about earning and just play the game, I play the game because of it's good gameplay and graphics which beat every games that are made today, updates will come when it is ready, for now lets just enjoy maintaining our farm.

At its peak, game used to be an expensive game to start as it required investments of a couple of thousand dollars to start playing the game.

Fishing rods and axes used to be the primary requirement for starting the game, sold for thousands of Dollars at the game peak, now they are available for fraction of cents.

Did Dev abandon the game?

If we focus on community updates and game update, there is no activity from the game side.

But Dev are keeping the status quo as they are keeping the site up and running for the game and buying WAX for RAM so that game can remain functional. so Dev did not abandon the game fully.

If you see the Wax Explorer, you can see the transactions of this game as top transactions. Even without any new content and update it is still a top-played game.

My 2 cents.

At one time, I decided to give it a try, as in current scenario it is very cheap to start in this game but I decided against it. I am not interested in spending my time in Play2earn games now. The only thing I am thinking about is whether to hold the game token worth it or not. If Dev comes back it can be multifold otherwise they can go to zero also.
I guess, this is also one of the classic cases of unsustainable tokenomics of the Play2earn game which needs a revamp and a new perspective.
