YouTube and our Young Generation: How Serious the Effect can be?

avatar

Ah! YouTube.

Very few alternatives are as effective as Youtube in eliminating boredom in our technology-led life.

However, are we using it only to pass our boring time?

Nope—we are using it to make a living as well; and, the amount is quite decent, you know.

Yes, Youtube is making our life livelier and easier as we can find thousands of contents posting regularly that help us improving our life-style and especially solving numerous problems in the promotional form of 'DIY.'

It's appreciable; encouraging as well.

But, aren't we taking it too far? Aren't we making our future generation miserable?

To some extent, yes, we are. Well, controversy exists. But, my point here is "to some extent."

In recent times, we have seen our young generation creating B-grade entertainment content in various social media channels; especially, on TikTok.

If we look closely, we might not be able to ignore the influenced individuals around doing nothing but swallowing the settings and probably planning to restage the scenario on his own—stretching the event to a more gruesome and disgusting level.

Forget about that. We consider ourselves inferior to the Wester counterparts--a majority, at least.

I've seen thousands of channels creating contents centering the life-style of their offsprings who can barely walk or have developed a real-life sense.

No, this is not a doing of a healthy mind, I must say.

They are just selling their dignity, their sense of privacy. As a matter of fact, this is just making the life of their children miserable.

They are constantly being pushed to act accordingly even though they merely have expertise.

Well, they are doing fine, somehow. But, it is a result of a massive manipulation. Children are great imitators. They imitate what they are asked to or watch the elders to do.

They developed their sense this way, which is, I think, being manipulated in a dirty way by their parents.

They are being forced to act in that way, meanwhile, they are shaping their lives accordingly not knowing it is just a fantasy, not a reality.

Reality is harsh, it is not a colorful screen to be measured by inches.

I have a baby girl who watches these shows every day; like, the whole day. I tried to alter her attention and interest to indoor games, you know, those dolls, cars, paints, and some other.

But, no, I failed. And, I'm constantly failing. She is intensely attached to those shows and the most haunting thing is, she just started imitating those actions and dialogues. She asked me occasionally to play with her as she sees on Youtube. She regularly demands products and those fancy foods that she sees on Youtube.

But, I can't respond, cause, I don't have the ability to make her understand those are fantasies, they don't exist in real life.

Sometimes I turn off the laptop out of rage but, can't keep it that way for long. She resists and even cries loudly if I do so.

And, I think, I am failing to bring her back to normal. Like Covid-19, I have started to convince myself to consider her behavior as a NEW NORMAL.

Any suggestions?
