Every obstacle is an opportunity

It doesn't take a brainer to understand what this means. Still, I skipped myself from this motivation for so long, well, most of my life. After ages, I was scrolling my LinkedIn account to stay more updated with industry insights. I do admit this platform is a gem but somehow I managed to avoid it for more than a year straight— I am consistent in some matters, lol.

Anyway, I noticed a post almost 2 years old, an announcement I made in frustration with quitting my job as it was demanding more time, including personal. Although it wasn’t the prime cause, I hated the specific responsibilities of dealing with account matters— numbers, I suck at it. Even to this date, sadly. So, the post came to the attention of my bosses, they discussed it internally and asked me why I wanted to quit as I didn’t disclose the main reason. But finally, they showed me my post and said my contribution to accounting would be considered. Unconvinced, I quit the job, even after a recent promotion. Oh, I hate numbers that much.

One year later, guess what I did. Enrolled in the university to study something that has a great deal with numbers. What an irony. Convinced myself to focus and somehow passed— an achievement I’d say. But I still regret the decision to quit that job— only if I persuaded myself to try to understand those numerical subjects, I guess I could do better in my course later.

Now, a more recent scenario.

Started another job. But as a part of the increment, I was subjected to do additional duties, or I could switch to that department if I agreed to do some specific duties. And of course, I hate them. So, what happened— I quit again. Not that I’m not open to career developments, I like to shine in my expertise— helps me deliver my best; not wherever you want me to. I like being a specialist than learning all and becoming a generalist. But the current job scenario doesn’t offer much if you restrict yourself to a singular field, not unless your specialisation is unrivalled. So, branching out is necessary if you are yet to be one of the most important people in your field. And that’s what we should try to become if stability is desired.

Anyway, a few months later, started another job, which is my current one. Initially it was all about ‘what-I-don’t-hate,’ but then it started to push me further— to embrace what I don’t like. Same case again, in different places. But I didn’t run away, not yet and don’t have a plan either. Instead, I challenged myself. Focused myself on becoming one of the doers— and I did quite well within a short period. What I didn’t like earlier, instead of quitting my job, now I am happily doing it and more or less enjoying it simultaneously. For this as well, if I didn’t quit the last job, I could do better— or be in a better position in that organisation by this time at least.

Although the cases are entirely personal, they could convey a message to you— don’t limit yourself when facing an obstacle. Might take time and effort, but if embraced with determination, it always brings the best reward. Utilising the opportunities to get a new skill or hone an existing one should be the first priority in this everchanging job context. Otherwise, a downfall is imminent— and you won’t like it I bet.

Absolutely! Every obstacle we face in life is an opportunity in disguise. It's a chance for growth, learning, and discovering our strengths. I believe when it’s the hardest then its about to be very easy. Keep embracing those opportunities!

When things are hardest, the chances are you get to learn more from it than usual, so trying hard pays off. Whatever happens in our life, the passion for growth shouldn't be postponed for some other suitable time as nobody knows what awaits in future.

Well, I might have blamed you for quitting the jobs but I see it as a way to widen and broaden your experience
Obstacles are part of life so we need to always crush them
That’s just the truth!

You don't have to blame me, I do it everyday 😄

But yeah, I learned my lesson and perhaps, it was necessary otherwise I wouldn't know what awaits for an escapist.

Viewing obstacles as opportunities will make us tackle them to overcome them. When we see them as obstacles we can get depressed and give up on trying. It good you learnt this important lesson from the wrong decisions you made in the past. I wish you the best at your current job. Thanks for writing.

Facing obstacles first-hand teaches us the best lesson, I guess that happened to me. Thanks for your wish my friend, I hope to do it better.

It's like life's throwing curveballs at you and instead of ducking, you're learning to hit 'em out of the park, huh? I admire that grind, seriously.
