New DLC - The Cuatro Colinas Game Reserve | theHunter: Call of the Wild

Hello, gamers. Welcome back to my blog.

As you might already know, many games on the Steam platform is available at huge discounts because of the ongoing Steam Summer Sale 2023 I will try to grab a couple of titles but before that, I went through the DLC store of theHunter: Call of the Wild and apart from the latest two reserves/maps, all the other reserves were selling on a massive discount.

I grabbed a couple of DLCs for me, one of them is called the 'Weapon Pack #1' which comes with three weapons: a rifle, a bow and a powerful crossbow. I will use the bow and crossbow later but I included the rifle in my loadout.

The other DLC I bought is the Cautro Colinas Game Reserve. It is located in Spain and owned by a powerful family for centuries.

I found myself in the middle of fields with a sunflower on one side and beautiful violet flowers on the other. This area is used for plantation. Some of the fields were empty and it would be easier to spot animals there.

I heard a call from 'Roe Deer', these small deer are found in many parts of the world and are not exclusive so I was not that excited to see them here as well. I wanted to explore and find some exclusive species. All I have heard is this map is supposed to be a big habitat for Ibexes and deer.

I saw the Roe Deer that was fleeing away from me after hearing my footsteps. She was a little female and they only get spooked when we get closer to them, so I must be way too close and they must be hiding in those flowers well.

Anyways, like every new reserve, the first mission is to go to a nearby Watch tower and get the lay of the land, which will open up a few locations around that area including the outpost.

I could see a massive stone tower ahead of me. The warden told me to go there and survey the land. On my way, I found some tracks of Wolf. These were from a male Iberian Wolf, which was a new species that I had never seen in this game before. I was excited to see the footprints only.

From the game codex, you can view more information about the animal as well... their behaviour, most active time, where they can be found most likely and how good their senses are... these wolves are the apex predator in this area. I am not sure if they will attack me or not. Maybe they will only if they get cornered or something.

I didn't follow the tracks as I wanted to first have a place for me to rest and unlock the quick travel spot. So, I went towards the watch tower instead.

From the top, you can see all around you. Most of the area is covered with some sort of plantations and some are just empty fields with hay bales in them.

One thing is very clear, this region is filled with these little Roe Deer. Sadly, I had too powerful a weapon and using it I won't get the maximum rewards but I still shot down a couple of them from the top of the tower.

See, this one... it could have been a Gold but since I didn't use the correct gun for this I only got a Silver trophy. It was a nice shot though, from over 300 meters.

I also caught a glimpse of Wild Boar, these species are prevalent in almost every part of the world so they were not exclusive and I didn't even bother taking shots while they were running through trees and high grasses. I would have most likely missed a running target from this distance.

I was surprised to see so many Roe deer in the same place. Most of them were grazing and standing still so taking even a long-distance shot was not a problem for me.

I came down after doing the survey of the area and unlocking this tower. Now my next objective was to go to the nearby outpost which was not visible on the map as well. But first I took a little detour as I saw some wide open fields in the distance and you can find some animals resting there.

I crossed some fields with Hay Bales, everything was well organised and planned with trees growing along the boundary of the fields. This was in contrast to the forest I have been hunting in other reserves. I am sure this map also has those dense wild, forested areas but this place is well maintained with lots of human touch.

I saw a Roe deer standing alone in the middle of the field and busy eating grass. The wind was in my favour too and they don't have great eyesight so I decided to go very slowly towards it. I wanted to see how close I can get before they will spook.

I walked until about 100 meters and then crouched and slowly approached and even laid down when I was too close within 50 meters. I could go close to 30 meters and I didn't want to risk so I shot it with my shotgun but I forgot to change the bullet and used the wrong one for them. This was a small male weighing just over 23 kg and I got a powerful shot which hit both its lungs and the poor guy collapsed instantly to the ground.

I moved on and saw a group of Iberian Mouflon. These are new species that I found on this map, haven't encountered them on any other maps. These are wild sheep which are considered to be the ancestors of the domesticated sheep.

They were all resting under the trees. So, I picked the one that looked the biggest and shot at the lungs.

This was gold, which means it was a big one. Look at the horns on this bad boy. Damm, that curve, almost making a full circle. This was a common fur type though.

I took a long detour and it was time to get back on the mission. I had to travel to the outpost. So, I ignored some calls from Roe deer, these deer seem like everywhere.

I saw a flock of Ringed-Neck Pheasant, they are one of the most beautiful pheasants but they are found in other reserves as well. I still wanted to get myself a colourful male.

I used the .22 LR rifle which is capable of taking multiple quick shots on them. So, I have more chance of getting multiple kills. I killed 3 out of the 5 in the group. But only one of them was male and the rest were females.

Males are bright and colourful while females are dull looking and give fewer rewards and ratings. Look at the male, how beautiful they look while the females are just dull brown.

After harvesting all my kills I didn't stop until I reached the outpost else I would have lost in the thrills of hunting and never come back to the base.

At last, the outpost was close and I quickly went and unlocked it.

This was a nice end to my long session. I loved the new map so far. Excited about encountering those wolves and will look to find more exclusive and indigenous species on this map.

Thanks for reading...

Until next time...

The violet and yellow flowers looked so realistic. Haha don’t feel like this was about a video game.🙈 Definitely was an interesting read.
