Hunting Lions in Vurongha Savanna | theHunter: Call of the Wild

Hello, gamers. Welcome back to my blog.

I have been hunting in the harsh and cold climate of Siberian tundra but I was getting bored of all the snow, didn't think I would be bored of that map but it was time to get back to one of my favourite maps in the game, the Vurongha Savanna, going from snowy tundra to the scorching lands of southern African woodlands was a crazy contrast.

Well, I wanted to hunt with my friend @morenow and this time we wanted to go for big predators, nothing less than the King of the jungle, Lions. I hosted a server map and started to look for my prey while I waited for my friend to join me.

It was a beautiful afternoon and I love the landscapes here, long dried-up grass with few trees in between and some patches of greens and few lakes. I admired the beauty of this map and took many photos. I love to take those in-game photos, especially in a game like this with amazing views.

Within a few minutes, I saw a small group of Pronghorns and they were all females. With no males in sight and those females busy eating, I decided to hunt them.

I used the bow to take it down. This was an uncommon one, we don't see many Springboks with Black-Brown fur type. It gave me a silver trophy.

Since I used the bow which is not too loud and if you wait patiently after killing one animal all others will calm down in a bit and then we can move closer while making little sounds to get closer to the next one. I did that and managed to get a second kill too.

A smaller female with a common fur type, weighing just under 31 kg. This one had even smaller horns and gave me just a bronze trophy.

This was the time when I was joined by @morenow and we both headed to the nearest lake. I checked and it was lion's drinking time and probably that was the reason we didn't see too many animals on our way to the lake. These lions scare them away but we went to hunt these apex predators.

It was a big lake and we saw one female and two male lions drinking water on the edge of the lake. But before we could strategies and plan to take them on, the internet Gods got angry with us and @morenow's connection made him drop out of the map. We tried a few more times but it didn't work so it was up to me to hunt those big lions.

I wanted to hunt at least 2 lions, excuse me... 2 Male lions no females...right @morenow? hahaha

There was a big male on the other side of the lake, drinking water while occasionally getting up and keeping an eye out for prey and other dangers.

Going too close to them is risking them sensing you which could be fatal as they can charge towards you and attack you. So, it was sensible to maintain some distance and take a long-range shot with my rifle.

It was a good angle for me, completely sideways and I had lungs to aim at, what more can you expect?

There was one more on the western edge of the lake and that one got spooked by the loud noise of my rifle. He seemed to be going away but came back as if he was not afraid of anything and was curious to see who made that noise.

I aimed at him after he calmed down, I had a more front-on angle this time so the chances of missing the lungs were high and I didn't want to hit its head and ruin my trophy too. I wanted at least one gold trophy out of those two.

I saw it collapse on the ground after taking a couple of hits, I ran to see their stats and harvest my kills.

I collected the latest kill first and it was a big male weighing over 200 Kg but it only gave me a silver trophy.

I had more hopes for the other one and it weighed even more than the first one. And this one gave me the Gold trophy!

I was excited to get a Gold male Lion, it was time to move on from this lake now. I saw a herd of Blue Wildebeest and started following them. I had a caller with me too and used it to call them in but it works within a specific range so I had to get closer before they could hear it and get attracted to the calls.

And patience pays off, I kept following them until they stopped and started eating calmly. After choosing the biggest male from the herd as my target I shot it down. And guess what? It gave me a Gold trophy as well!

I was going to another lake to look for more lions. The lake wasn't too far away and after a few minutes of walking I reached it but I made too much noise and the lions somehow sensed me and left me alone standing on the edge of this beautiful lake.

Naturally, there were no other animals here apart from a duck which was a female and I didn't kill it. It was enough for the day I guess so I gazed at the beautiful lakes and left the animals alone, at least for some time. xD

I will be back with more adventures from this part of the world! Hopefully, the internet Gods show mercy on us the next time and @morenow will be able to join and hunt some big lions too! (Or get hunted by them, who knows...lol)

Thanks for reading...

Until next hunt...

wow, when I saw that great Leon I also thought it would give a gold trophy, it was possible thanks to your clean shot, congratulations.

Unfortunately my internet didn't help that I could join the campaign, I hope to be able to do it very soon. You had a hunt and that's great.

Yes, you need to buy this map or you can play with a friend who owns this. One of my favorites map in the game mimicking the African savannah.

It is a slow burn at first, the default maps you get with the games are not easy too, the animals on those have low populations and enough hiding spots but maps like this (Savannah) have wide open fields and grounds which makes hunting a little less challenging too.

although I don't really like caseria, this game surprises me with its realism.

  • Aunque no me gusta mucho la caseria este juego me sorprende mucho por su realismo .
