Humble Beginnings! Let's Play Terraria | Part #1

Hello, gamers. Hope you are doing well.

There were a lot of talks in the HiveGaming discord server about this game and I have always known about the game but never played it. And looking at how popular the game was and how good it looked in some of the posts that I recently read, I had to have a go at it!

So, here is me starting yet another game. I have a feeling that it is going to take a lifetime for me but I enjoy these build, explore and adventure titles. Some have said it is much better than Minecraft and I love Minecraft so I was excited to boot it up.

I created a character with the default setting and then a world with all the default settings as well. You start with some basic tools and I used the axe to chop down some trees. (That was my Minecraft instinct telling me to xD)

There is an NPC which can help with the basics of crafting and so on. There are some slimes which spawn on the ground and they are annoying. So, I wanted to make a house that could keep those away.

It was almost nighttime when I was not even finished with an ugly-looking building. I thought it would keep me safe but I was wrong. I made a mistake and used platforms as my roof instead of wood and monsters can still come from the top.

I replaced the right wall with a door to enable me to go outside but the zombies started to spawn already. Damm these monsters, a strange eye came flying from the sky and started attacking me, it was inside my house. I tried my best to kill it but these basic weapons were too weak and I was not familiar with all the controls yet and died at the hands of these 'Demon Eye'.

I spawned a little left to where I died and quickly came back to the house and defended the place with all my strength. Finally, it was daytime and those monsters were not coming now.

It looked like a good day for some exploration!

I chose the west direction and saw a big mountain with some precious iron ore deposits at the top. I mined all the iron and continued going west.

There was a cave that went deep into the ground. I wanted to go in but I was afraid the day would be over and I won't get the chance to see other places. But there was some nice loot in the pots.

Going further to the left I found a chest! It had some iron blocks, a stool and some potions. This was a nice find. There was a cave too but I never went inside. It was time for more surface adventure!

I knew I was going to die a lot in this game after I died from a Dandelion seed! A f*cing plant seed!! LOL

Well, that was embarrassing.

I looked like I was at the start of another biome with different trees but a couple of one-eyed flying monsters tried to kill me, I panicked and ran straight for my home.

One of them followed me to my house but I managed to kill it after observing its attack pattern. You can hover the cursor over it and it will show the name of the monster, I didn't know that. This one is called the "Eater of Souls", a pretty scary name if you ask me.

Last night when I defended myself from those monsters, I dug a small hole in the ground too. But I still had some daylight to spare so I went to the right of my base.

There was a big tree with a tunnel going deep into the ground. It looked like an interesting structure so I went straight down to check it out. I was carefully placing the torches as I went down.

Found a room with some nice goodies...the chest had a summoning weapon and some silver bar and other items. I took all the things with me. I didn't realise that it was nighttime now and zombies stormed the area.

And I died again!!

I had to go back to the place to collect my fallen coins and I had no idea if the coins would disappear after some time or would stay there. But I was in no condition to get back to there by going along the surface, it was too risky.

So, I went to my mine and decided to dig a path to where I died. I also made a new and improved Picaxe. I think I made a silver one (or was it iron?). Anyway, this was a much better pickaxe than the default bronze one.

I retrieved my coins and kept going downwards to find some valuable ores to further improve my pickaxe and upgrade all my tools and hopefully my wooden armour. XD

Clearing the mines with bombs is so satisfying and quick. I wish I had a lot of bombs.

I secured my house by adding some wood and walls. I now have a few more things in there, a furnace to smelt my ores, an anvil and some chests to store extra loot.

I found more iron and my first gold ores deep in the mines. I was much deeper underground. I wonder how deep the world goes in Terraria.

I found a heart too which increases the maximum health by one heart. I consumed it instantly as I wanted to increase my maximum health and not get destroyed by plants and slimes again...lol

Mining is so satisfying in the game, you will spend hours and hours mining for those precious ores and killing monsters and slimes navigating through pools of water and other dangers. I feel like there are so many things to do here. Getting a more secure house and better armour should be my priority but I am having too much fun just mining.

I am liking it so far, can't wait to explore more of the world around me and dig deeper!!

Thanks for reading...

Until next time...
