What Is Your Story?

avatar

That is a pretty broad question, isn't it? It's been something I have been contemplating over a lot lately. I am not sure if because it's that time of year where the days are shorter & are growing colder. Or it could be that we are nearing the end of a decade & about to embark on a new one. However, reflection on deeper things has been occupying my mind lately...

I have been feeling solid in my path & a sense of purpose. The spiritual journey I have been on for a little over 4 years has been full of ups & downs, growing & learning as I go. Certain things are no longer abstract concepts like they used to be. Miracles, both little and big, have occurred. I feel blessed to be going through this human existence we call life...

This didn't happen overnight (& I still have a long ways to go), but I realized something today...I made a choice. I made the choice to change my story.

I had been feeling tired, listless, even lethargic & just clouded in my thoughts. Even though I do have a few physical ailments, it wasn't caused by that. It was a feeling of being "stuck", wondering if what I had been doing this year really mattered. Now, of course, I know it does logically, but when one gets into their head too much, the thoughts can contradict themselves.

So, I meditated, breath work, prayed, thought, journaled & watched a lot of Netflix (don't judge lol). Then I remember a quote I posted the other day...

See, we all have a story, our own perception of ourselves & our reality. You have heard me talk about this before, but it's something to ponder. What story do you tell yourself? What is your reality?

We go from day to day doing the same routines, whether they help us or not. It's something we can control & that we are comfortable with. That's why some of us stay in negative situations because it's what is expected from others or we feel there is no other alternative.

It's easier to say what we want & dream of things we want to accomplish. Some of us start out with good intentions to change things, but then when we fall short of our own expectations, we retreat to the safety of our comfort cocoon & repeat the old routines once again.

Failure scares us. The unknown fills us with fear. We can't control these things. When we are told to let go, we grip on tighter. So, we live in a mundane existence or at least one that isn't up to our full potential. But it is never too late to change the story; the dialogue we have with ourselves.

Turn around the "I can'ts" to "I am". Look at yourself in the mirror & instead of seeing the shortcomings, look at your strengths even if you have to search for it.

We are worth as much as we tell ourselves, even if others see our worth. It all starts from within and, as tired as we may be of hearing it, we know it's true when we get down to it.

If you don't like your story, change it. Two people had it right:

When I had that small epiphany this morning, I knew my life is already changing. Because of one small tweak in my perspective, I shifted to another path in life. A new story...

I can't wait to see how it turns out ;)

I too have been doing a lot of reflecting in life and have come to the conclusion that whenever I start to believe or think that something can’t be done, is when I need to actively try and make that very thing happen. I am in the process of moving away from my salary job in sales to build a life surrounded by people looking to make a change in the world. I’m tired of slaving 50-60+ hours every week to barely get by. There is so much more to life than this! Thanks for sharing your inspiration with us.

I know many others feel this same way!

First of all, good for you! I am so happy for you for making that leap. Doing what you love is so important.

Also, thoughts and our energy vibration are key. Of course we are human & will have our ups & downs. However, the more mindful we are of our thoughts & words, the better. When we vibrate at a higher energy vibration, the more we are in alignment. Our outer reality reflects that as well.

Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts. Namaste 🙏💕

It's funny...I believe the phrase came from Spirit. It just popped in my head a week or two ago & has been repeated in my heart. It is guiding me in my journey right now. Every time I get into a slightly depressive state, I hear "Change your story, change your life". It's as if it wakes me up & allows me to shift my energy. Pretty amazing.

I completely get where you are coming from. The questions, doubt, etc...this month is a time where we all are self reflecting & realizing what we truly want. 2020 will be a time to step forth with a new conviction. You will get through this! Sending you pixie dust & love 💕🙏

I'm happy when I see happy people around me... :)

And, it's interesting that the same things were going through my mind (and not just mine... I saw Jon writing about it also) lately regarding the importance of the journey and not just the goal...

We are all connected in some way and think like a... BORG... (you didn't expect that :) )

Joking aside, it really amazing how human thoughts can be powerful.

I am happy around happy people as well lol. But that just shows you that one person's energy vibration affects all those who are around him/her. That's why when one walks in a room, he/she can sense the energy right away (whether we consciously are aware of it or not).

Haha I remember "you will be assimilated". But the crazy thing is the Borg was a "collective". That's how we are (in a much less creepy way) - we are connected in one way or another. Pretty amazing.

💗✨🧚
