I agree we need to stop making a CEO of a rocket company into an iconoclast. The red carpet they give him will be a joke in space.

Well, I think a lot of things are overrated, especially the value of Tesla. Tesla sold 500k cars last year, VW sold 135k electrical ones (petrol/diesel not included) and has a valuation 10 times lower than Tesla. Let's see what the future brings. :)

VW also lied to the North American regulators about their emissions and highway fuel economy, I personally love the VW brand, but others will not forgive them for that lie probably ever.

That is true, it was only an example to compare market valuation. Toyota is doing even better and has a close valuation to VW. The valuation is somehow strange.

I try to only buy vehicles made in Canada. I don't want to do myself too bad with my personal vehicle on here, but I really appreciate this
video
and do not have a specific loyalty to brand.

I'm in the automotive field, and we ship parts for Canada (FCA, Ford, Honda and GM) that are partly made in Germany than shipped and made in the Czech Republic. Some raw material was made in the UK before, but due to Brexit was relocated to France, some part of the metal comes from Chile and some from Australia and this for some small parts that go into every car. A Mini had 2500 different assemblies coming from 150 countries.

It does not matter the final assembly but the expensive subassemblies in the car. If the transmission and airbags are done on a local level, then most of the money remains in there.

Like for an Iphone, even if it assembled in China most money goes to Japan, Germany and the USA.
