Empower Yourself to Empower Others or Vice Versa?

I know that saying "empower yourself" is starting to be one of those "always repeated", "corny" things that you hear almost every day... Or not? Actually, if I think about it, you don't hear that on the mainstream media, which is pushing the opposite side, sucking our power out...

Did you notice that you are served things like "We know better what is good for you", follow this, follow that, "try this product it will change your life", etc... Well, I have bad news for you... There is no "product" that you can buy that will change your life... Except for chocolate... :)

So, we have a great social media network where we can publish our thoughts, opinions, gratitudes, messages, and we can interact with other people on the network... Showing them our support, appreciation, learning from them, helping each other to grow... At the end of the story, we are here for others, and others are here for us...

We have a lot of power in our hands, and it's a pity that there are people that don't use that power... I blame negative influences that are "presenting" us that we have no power, but that isn't true... We are much more powerful than it looks... And when we start to use that power, we are not "consuming" it, we are building it up...

Check out the video for a bit more about this...

Thank you for your valuable time,

~ph~

Can I assume @ph1102 Monster Energy is chocolate flavor? We do have the power and if we use it wisely we can be a force.

hehehehe... Actually, I'm not a big chocolate eater, but I know that a lot of people are... :) And, we do have power, and we can share it with others, empowering them...

Thanks for your comment!

In this video, you have given me a new perspective on engaging. Before, my views on engaging (as evidenced my my activity in the #IAmEngaged challenge) was to be constantly reaching out to new contacts. I wanted to "engage" with new people with hopes of potentially increasing my followers. However, now I see that engagement is more than that. It includes building a relationship...building trust...truly connecting. By returning to make additional comments on the posts of the same person, you begin interacting and nurturing more than just a superficial friendship. Thank you for that insight.

I would like to say that it was MY personal opinion on engagement... But, I suppose that there are a lot of other people here that think similar... That would like to hear more things about you, connect with you, and connect with their audience...

I wanted to "engage" with new people with hopes of potentially increasing my followers.

I would lie if I say that it's not my goal also... But, I would like to learn more and know my followers... Maybe their content is interesting to me also...

Thanks for taking time to watch/read my content... Cheers!

When I look at the path that people take on hive it often follows these stages:

  • You pick this up somewhere and for a certain reason you start to use the platform
  • If you are persistant enough and willing to learn how it works you will manage to post a couple of articles and give some comments

Afterwards there is one big gap and it has to do with motivation. After a couple of posts, people tend to loose faith in the platform. They don't earn as much as they thought and their posts get very little interaction. This is where we, as experienced users, can come in and give some of our time and know-how. By empowering these rather small users we may link them to the platform in the long run. I believe this is as important as onboarding itself. I find it quite rewarding to help others and to appreciate what they are doing.

Hmmm... You are right about that... but... :)

We can't blame only ourselves for not being "here for them"... I mean, it is important WHY has someone came to the platform? Yes, you can earn money on the platform, but let's be honest about that... The first association to someone "outside" the Hive is that he/she will come, and earn $50-$100 daily by posting FB pics...

But, on the other side, there are people that come to the platform, create posts, comment on others' posts, engage, and doing that doesn't even notice that they are accumulating "some" crypto... And whey you empower some of those people, omg... magic happens... :)

In the end, all come to the same place... We don't have enough time to PUSH every single person forward... and tbh, not everyone is worthy pushing... maybe sounds a bit rash, but it's true... If we would like to help them ALL, we would need a lot of that lost Pixie dust that @pixiepost trying to find... :)

Thanks for your comment! You always make me think for at least twice... When I create a post, and when I reply to your comment... 🤣

Cheers!

Here I totally agree with you. Not everybody is worth pushing. We have to find to promising people who stand out for their perseverance and their creativity. If we can manage to encourage these few ones, they might be accompagning us in the long run.

I'm happy I can trigger your thinking, hope it doesn't give you headaches ;-)

Amen to all of this. You two make each other think & this basically is an example of what @ph1102 is talking about. Empowering yourself to empower others & it creates the conversation, thus eliminating the "what am I going to blog about" issue! (See what I did there? 😉)

It is sad that not everyone is worth pushing but it's a fact. There comes to a certain point that people have to want to help themselves. We can't do it for them. All the encouragement in the world won't work if that person doesn't start from within.

Be amazed. I haven't even had coffee yet..advil anyone? .and oh, btw...

Winning!!!

Yes, we do... You have made a complete mess here... 🤣

And just a "short" thought on this:

It is sad that not everyone is worth pushing but it's a fact.

Sometimes, I'm not sure if someone really wants to be pushed or not, so I try... We can't know how "tastes" some things before we try them...

I write a comment on a post of the "new member" and if I get a decent reply, I will push forward the story... It's worth doing it!

Ha ha ha! Of course, I did. I gotta keep you on your toes lol 😂

But yes, that is also true. Sometimes, we don't know until we try. So, I like to give people, especially new ones, a chance. I have always been the type to give the benefit of the doubt until it is proven to me that it's not worth pursuing. It's not even anything personal. It's just a matter of respecting your own time as well as focusing on people who are engaging & providing value. It's all about balance. Very good point!

I think it's a good approach to favourise the people who show that they are engaging and providing value already. I also like to give beginners some encouraging comment from time to time but I've found out that it can be quite time consuming when they want me to explain them how everything works;-)

I agree! It can be very time consuming and I know now that @ph1102 will now officially stomp me for even commenting on here further 🤣🤣

But yes, finding that balance of supporting heavy engagers & creators as well as newbies coming onto the blockchain is key. 🙌🧡

It is sad that not everyone is worth pushing but it's a fact.

I think it's difficult to define from the beginning who will be worth it and who not. For me it greatly depends on how they react on my comments. If there is no answer to a comment, well then I think they need to find somebody else to push them ;-)

Empowerment is a very important thing in life, both offline & online. When we inspire others, it really can cause a ripple effect. Because when we empower someone (or even ourselves), they will most likely do the same for someone els. My mom always used to say every little thing will effect someone or something else so be mindful of your actions. We have that power & when we use it for good, we are unstoppable.

As you said, that's where the engagement & support come in. Don't do it just for a pat on the back or seeking some other form of self gain. Do it out of authenticity & genuinely wanting to help others. It will definitely come back in ten fold.

Thanks for sharing this! Awesome videos as always :)

I like this... Because it is true... :) It's like a boomerang thing... You throw positive push to others, and it comes back on you... :)

Of course, it is not always a case, as I mention in my reply to @achim03 comment, but we throw that to as many people as we can, and if it comes back, that's a win-win... for both parties involved.. :)

Thanks for your continuous support! I appreciate it very much!

If you are happy, people can feel that. Your action and honest opinion about something can change someone's life. If you stand in front of a mirror, you see yourself. Likewise, our feedback and opinion can work as a mirror that will empower others. Thank you @ph1102 for taking about this.
