School of Steem - Voting Power (VP)

avatar

I have started this series to help new users of STEEM to learn as much easier important things about their account here and how to manage it easily. After the second lesson about claiming tokens through Steem World, I got strong positive feedback about tips that I have mentioned in the post. Also, in some other comments, people asked about VP and what is it, so here we are in the third part of the School of Steem and we will talk about Voting Power.

What is Voting Power, or VP, and how it works?

Imagine VP as energy. Every time you upvote something, you will lose the percentage of your energy. You start with 100% VP and after every upvote, it decreases for around 2%. If your VP is at maximum, your UPVOTE VALUE is the maximum. As VP drops, your upvote value is less.

If you are using Steemit platform, you will not see your VotingPower... You can check your VP at https://steemd.com/@username, https://steemworld.org/@username, or https://steemnow.com/@username.

VP Regeneration

But, we have good news... Your VP is automatically regenerated over time until it reaches 100% again. The best time to upvote is always at 100%, but trying to upvote every time at 100% will be time-consuming, and you will probably miss a lot of upvotes. After one 100% upvote, your VP need slightly more than 2 hours to regenerate itself to 100%.

Upvote Value

As I have mentioned, your upvote value depends directly on the amount of you staked STEEM (or certain token) and your VP in the moment of upvoting something. In theory, if you would like to upvote post only when your VP is 100%, you will have around 11 upvotes per day.

When you open the account at STEEM, and you upvote something, you do it with 100% upvote. When you reach over 500SP (Steem Power, or staked STEEM), you have a possibility to set-up upvote percentage.

The Best Way to Upvote

The best way to upvote is to try to keep your Voting Power around 80-90%. I'm trying to manually upvote at least 3 times per day, so I can control my VP better and in that way, I'm keeping it around 90-95%. By doing that, my upvotes have almost the maximum possible value.

If you have any questions, please write it down in the comments section and I (or someone else) will probably answer it because we have an awesome community here on STEEM and our little #CTP Tribe. Also, if you have doubts about something on STEEM and you would like to see it better explained, please comment. I will try to create a post and clear any doubts that you may have.

Very informative. If you haven't already, you should do a post on Delegation.

As I can see, you have already written a few posts in the past... It's not some tech-science-space thing... Writing something that you are passionate about, upvote fellow Steemians, stake some STEEM, comment...

In the nutcase, enjoy in a good environment and earn some coins/tokens.. :)

Thank you for your comment!
