Price and Reward .:. Late Night Blogging

I was just checking my old LNB (Late Night Blogging) posts and the last one was 3 weeks ago! It's not that I didn't have topics to write about, but it's more of not having time to do it, and to be honest, not having the motivation to do it... It sounds unbelievable that a guy like me said that, but it's not all roses and daisies... People tend to share negative stuff more than positive and that reflects on me a lot...

Price and Reward.jpg
Created in Canva.com

As a matter of fact, in the last @acgalarza show in the Ecency discord, the topic was to list our values and I found that empathy is one of mine... (btw. check out his post and join the next "session" next Wednesday, 7 PM CET)... The thing with empathy is that it has its own pros and cons... One of the biggest cons is right as I said in the first paragraph, when someone shares negativity with you, you "pick it up" and it goes under your skin... It gets better after a while, when you successfully embrace it, find a way out, and release it in a positive way... Kind of alchemy, turning negativity into positivity, but not without costs...

Luckily, after writing my post about the second comment, I got a very interesting comment by @gadrian that moved my thoughts in a good direction...

BondsOnHive.png
Peakd screenshot

The post itself was talking about getting more (nested) comments on your posts, exactly like this one above where he commented on the post, I replied, and he did the second comment! What was interesting for me is his perception, or better said comparison, with some other, traditional social media networks...

Adrian has pointed out the fact that on traditional social media, you can have thousands and thousands of views, and maybe just a couple of comments, but here, we are asking for more, with a lot fewer "views"... Even if you check Facebook, you maybe have fewer views, but those that (should be) your close friends there, and usually, the most you get is a thumbs up, or some 1-word comment...

On the other side, from that short discussion with Adrian, I have realized another interesting fact about HIVE... From my personal experience on this network, I came here through Splinterlands, knowing 0 people... After a while, I met new friends and I have counted more than 15-20 good friends that I met here... And not just that, some of them I have met in "real life" and made some bonds that will last beyond the Internet boundaries... Visited some Hivians in their countries, invited some to my home, drink in a bar, had dinner in a restaurant, etc...

Liotes Divider Blue.png

Just a short jump back to Adrian's first comment... Do we have a "right" to ask for a second comment? It's not that I'm asking for it or not, it's more that it should be a natural way of communicating with your friends that care about you and that you care about them! It's not a rule, it's not a guideline, it's common sense...

And now, to wrap it up everything with empathy... As HIVE is more "physical" than any other network (that sounds awkward, but it is like that) it does hurt more to absorb negativity and to be hit by people here... But, on the other side, getting positive comments, and engaging with others is much more fulfilling than on any other social media network...

The price is high, but the reward is much higher and more impactful to our lives than some shallow comment on FB or Twitter... I like it and I'm willing to pay the price! How about you?

Thank you for your time,

~ph~

The main thing I notice with web2 social media it is full of spammers, scammers and the like. I think you can get some genuine interaction, but it is not quite the same as you get on Hive. Have some of your perceptions changed once you met some Hivers IRL? I mean, on Social Media, we often give off our perfect image like an avatar that we portray that can often not really be how we are IRL.

I met a lot of people at last year's HiveFest and I was pleasantly surprised by how many of them are exactly how I expected, or better said, authentic and the same as they were on HIVE "profiles"... Also, I had a few guests at my place where I met people from HIVE that I didn't interact with too much on the chain before but did that after...

As everyone who was attending some Hive meetups says, most people are introverts, which is strange to acknowledge knowing that we have met on the social media network... 😃

FB canceled my account and I don't know why, and after half a year I don't miss it at all. I have always understood big social media as just advertising and nothing else. But here you can go deeper and have a completely different debate. I agree that Hive is more physical that you mentioned.

It is like you said... All about advertising something, selling stuff, promoting, etc... I mean, we have tokens here on HIVE, but it is different... The approach and I don't have that feeling that I'm the product as I have on FB, for example...

Well, I never felt that I was a product, what bothered me more (as it has now started to bother me on Twitter) was that FB was always pointing me in the direction of something, if I searched for something (elsewhere, not on FB) it would serve me some commercials that were already passe, and then it would give me some suggestions of its own, in short, non-stop following...

Hahahaha... Got you! I had that situation many times... A few of them were that I was just TALKING about a certain topic with my friends and later on, I would get some FB ads served about exactly that topic!!! We were just talking! No typing, no Google search, or similar... Crazyyy

Great thoughts about comments on posts and building relationships on Hive Zoltan, and yes it is much more engaged here, indeed a positive thought, thanks for sharing and stay awesome.

I myself have used 13 year's Facebook and other platforms but till date I never got any benefit but if we were to say something true, we were blocked from there and now I I have been working on this platform for the last nine months, nothing like this has come up and the record of the hard work that people put in here is definitely there.

Agree... Building something on Facebook, or any other traditional social media platform is like building a business, but not yours, but THEIR business... They can close their site, ban you, take your data, and use it however they want... And filtering messages is just another level of centralization and censorship...

It is true that you can be downvoted on HIVE, but still, you can't be banned and your messages are stored in the blockchain... Nobody can delete them, even yourself!

I wouldn't mind it and I would prefer that second comment. It's just hard when there is only so much time. I don't really think the people on the normal social medias will really respond again afterwards. It's at least somewhat real compared to what I see on Twitter.

I like the idea of spreading, making new friends online, and meeting them IRL... That is something that nobody thinks to do on Twitter, for example... As a matter of fact, most of people are "hiding" behind their social media accounts...

Web2 social networks are mostly full of fake things, fake people and all...
We never can tell what we should trust or not...

For me, it looks like a competition... Who will post the best summer vacation picture, to make others jealous and to feed the ego... As you said, creating a fake (virtual) reality...

A social network is a community. And Hive is a small community with its good points and its bad points like any other community. Interaction is essential and encourages participation.

0

It is a community, but we could say the same for other social media networks, but still, they are more superficial... Or it's just my perception...
Also, it's interesting that a lot of people here are introverts, which isn't the case on other networks... sounds weird, but HIVE is a network of introverts... 😃

Hive has no equal in the social media, or more aptly, social blockchain domain. Nothing else comes close to the authenticity and genuineness of people here, and the very real bonds, connections, friendships, and relationships that we form here as a matter of course, and which are the basis of not only how Hive functions, but also how we succeed here. Brilliant stuff indeed! 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙

You are right! Hive is unique in that manner... People are authentic and genuine, even when they are "bad actors"... 😃 It's easier to navigate through communities and among people when you have that kind of environment...

Yep, indeed, I very much agree with that...and oh the bad actors...😂 That openness, honesty, authenticity, genuiness, and transparency are essential for me now! 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙

I met some decent people on Facebook back in the day, but trust me, these friendship never amounted to anything, infact, it died over the years, and people are mostly on social media now to watch videos and all.
In places like hive, the bond is tighter, especially when it's been formed. People get to know others, know their ambition and personalities too. Infact, do you know that the person I'll be getting married to, I met her on hive?

WoW! That sounds like an awesome HIVE story!!! That's great to hear and I'm not surprised that you found her on HIVE... When you share the same interests and the same vision, it's a great way to bond and create a relationship!

Wish you and your future wife all the best!

Thank you. It's a proof that hive and it's ability to truly connect people is underrated. I don't think there's any social space that have what we have here, it's special and really amazing beyond what we can find anywhere

Thanks for linking back to that conversation, Zoltan!

The negativity you talked about throughout your post started to reach me too (maybe on different topics though). And, like you, I tend to be affected by it. Especially when seeing egos collide instead of working together for the common benefit, that really is disappointing.

0

avatar

Sorry to hear that, but it's hard to "ignore" things... And it's not healthy to ignore them, either...
Egos would collide in any case, but the problem is that the price is paid by small accounts and small members... I have a feeling that people got tired and we don't have healthy discussions like we had 3-4 years ago...

I have a feeling that people got tired and we don't have healthy discussions like we had 3-4 years ago...

Maybe it's the prolonged bear too? It plays tricks on people's minds, and maybe few are reasonable to listen to arguments and reply in a civilized manner when they see their portfolio in the red zone for a long time.

0

That could be the case too... Anyways, I hope that we will have more talks about the future of HIVE and directions where to go...

I think the web 2 is very superficial not everyone says who they really are, there is a lot of falsehood, in Hive like you I have been able to share with friends made in this same network, in Hive there are more genuine people in my opinion, greetings have a great weekend.

I got the same feeling as you... Web2 platforms are full of "the best of..." posts where people share "the perfect life" that they are living (NOT) 😃
I mean, it's nice to see that, but it's far away from the truth... I prefer REALITY and not a fake world...

Hive goes beyond what most social media platforms offer. The interactions are real and bonds created last longer compared with other platforms. Genuine people with similar ambitions tend to strike long lasting bonds. That's what hive offers.

There is vast difference between web2:0 and web 3:0 and the superiority of web3:0 over its counterparts is very huge.

Couldn't agree more with you... The difference is so big that there is no way back to 2.0... When you try Web 3.0, you never look back...

When it comes to social media Hive has no equal. YOU can't compare web 2 and web 3, the difference is clear.

The difference is obvious for people who are researched blockchain, and crypto, but not that obvious for "ordinary" people... Our job is to show them the differences and the importance to switch...

People tend to share negative stuff more than positive and that reflects on me a lot..

Unless I know them, that is the fastest way for me to close a tab and move on!

However in my mind we cannot compare Hive to a social media. Doing what people do naturally on social media gets you fcuked here.

The incentive to engage and interact with people here on the HIVE blockchain is unique among social media sites. We don't need big name influences, we have people who actually interact with each other and support each other. We're all small influencers and together we are a massive influence. Now let's use our influence to bring Hive to $1.00, instead of dumping it for other crypto!

We're all small influencers and together we are a massive influence.

Well said! It is indeed like that! People support each other and that gives a completely different dimension to HIVE... In your community, we are all influencers as we help and support others, and make an "influence" on their lives!

I came through from DTube, as you may guess from my username, knowing no one too. I think that any persom you would meet from HIVE would be much more different than those of centralized medias.

You are right about that... In the beginning, most of us had 1 same interest, the cryptocurrencies... Now, we have more different people with different interests, but a lot of them are here to build and to grow their accounts... Knowing that they are here early and that they CAN build something more impactful here, than on traditional social media networks...

Isnt it great how AC always gives us something to think about 🙂 difficult sometimes to listen and feel with someone suffering and not carrying the burden with you.
Maybe Love and acceptance on everything as it is, is the key? Dont know.
I guess the second and third comments are kind of great natural filter to find likeminded people.

And 😅 as this is a first comment on two posts, I will have to check, maybe have some new workerbees to delegate

Yes, it is... This reminds me that I didn't do my homework... I'm very bad with homework and I never liked them... In school, I would do them right before the class, in the last moments... 😂 I will probably do the same at Wednesday evening...

Maybe Love and acceptance on everything as it is, is the key? Dont know.

Probably it is... Sometimes it's hard to accept it, but that's why it is a key...

And 😅 as this is a first comment on two posts, I will have to check, maybe have some new workerbees to delegate

Hehehehe... You don't have to if you don't want... It's not my token, it doesn't mean too much to me, so you don't have to "feel guilty"... 😃

The same here... Problem this week to integrate and focus on one value during the week cannot be done last minute.
Maybe procastrination and doing things last minute is also one of my core values 😅
