I Disagree With You, But I Will Not Shut You Up

Imagine that you have the power to do whatever you want... Imagine that you are the President of the World... :) And you got an idea how to help your people to live better, but you didn't expect that your plan can be used in a bad way... Suddenly, your not-a-favorite-person-in-life (neighbor that has a more beautiful wife, or your main political rival...) comes and says that on loud that you have made a mistake...

What would you do? Just a reminder... You can do whatever you want... Will you accept critics, show appreciation to your rival, and change your decision (can cost you your position!)? Or you will ignore it, lock him up in a cellar and keep him quiet until the end of (his) life?

Yes, all of us will probably say the first one... as we aren't really put ourselves in that position... But, 90% of people who are in a similar position, will do the opposite...

Well, these things are happening literally every single day... Probably for centuries ago... Yes, we have made some progress in certain ways of living, but we still have that "evil side" in us...

I have watched one interesting interview about free speech and the importance that everyone has a chance to say what it has to say... And one thing has left an impression on me the most...

If you are a real fighter for free speech and freedom, at the moment when someone else who has a totally opposite view on something than you, comes to you asking you for help, you decide to help him... Then you can say that you have done the right thing... Everyone should have the right to say what he wants to say, and the people should make a decision about it... If it is appropriate, or not...

Say STOP to censorship!

I had a similar experience the same day here on the HIVE... Check out the video...

Thank you for your valuable time,

~ph~

Freedom of speech is SO important, especially now. When I see our rights taken away slowly each day, it saddens me that more people don't seem to grasp this. The sooner we all start using our critical thinking & wake up to what's going on around us & UNITE, the better this world would be.

Sure, as you or anyone, I don't always agree with everyone's expression out there. It seems I am disagreeing more & more with the "popular opinion" nowadays. I am finding my voice much more than I had in the past & am not afraid to express it. But regardless if I disagree with someone else, sometimes it's ok to agree to disagree. I would never want their right to say what their truth is taken away from them.

Again, as our other good friend Ralph says, freedom is our birth right & that goes for speech as well. I just move on or say my piece if I disagree, but we ALL should have a right to express ourselves without fear of being cancelled or reprimanded.

This is something I am really glad you brought up, because this needs to be discussed more. We need to be PROACTIVE & it is more urgent now than ever.

Thank you, Zoltan, for being the lightworker bringing this topic into the light. Appreciate you more than you know! :) 💜

it saddens me that more people don't seem to grasp this.

I think aren't aware of things that are happening... It's not that they don't want to react, it's that they aren't aware... Still in a deep sleep...

I really hope that people will pay attention to reality and what they have, and what did they lost on the way... I hope that it will not be too late...

Every time someone tries to "steal" your voice, it means that it is insecure in their beliefs... This leads that something "more" is happening, and your voice can crash that pile of cards... They feel attacked and then censorship comes as the easiest solution to stop discussion... in the short term, as truth always comes to the surface...

Thanks for your support and the comment!

I like the word Critique as opposed to criticism

Only egos look at constructive critique as criticism and ego will always imitate reactions s opposed to action

as for Free Speech, the fact that this concept is even in existence is because there are those out there that would rather opinion was suppressed and so a concept of Free Speech is borne to counter this opposition.

Of course everyone should be able to express their opinion unhindered and free from the tyranny of insult and retribution.

Sad to say this is not the case in many countries and we used to think this the case in only those countries that have a dictatorship, which is actually still the case.

Even in so called free forward thinking countries unfortunately dictatorships have burrowed their way in somewhat unnoticed under the guise of future development.

People need to be more aware of what is going on,l inform themselves and not just accept blindly.

The greater the voice the more it an become constructive and not see as being destructive,.

I would say that these things got developed in the wrong way... lol... In one moment of history, we were learning from the "bad examples" of dictatorships and try to do better... Tried to not do it like that...

And in another moment, we have switched sides... I have a feeling that our "so-called free forward-thinking countries" have seen the benefits of dictatorships and implementing them in our everyday life... But disguised in different costumes...

Out democratic countries are worse than "known" dictatorship countries at the moment... I hope that people will get aware of this and act...

Great video man

I think that this is why Hive is different from other platforms. Because of upvotes and downvotes, we can't be as brutish as on other platforms. We try to be kinder and this enables us to put our ego aside and to listen to others even if we don't agree.

I would like to say something about the guy with monero:
This guy looks at crypto as an investment vehicle. It's nothing else than speculation. He hopes that one coin will go up.

What you are doing is what I would call crypto 2.0. We don't speculate, we earn crypto here on Hive. I mean you can speculate with wathever you want (money, gold, stamps, art,...) and crypto is just one possible asset. The difference is that what we have here on hive is a real use case that is capable of changing the lives of people by providing them an income source while doing something meaningful.

P.S: I had the feeling that you were a bit lost in the woods .. lol

hahahaha.. Spot on! I was lost in the woods... lol

And regarding crypto investments... Yes, it is just speculation... And I DO that with some other cryptocurrencies... I can't say that I'm not...

But, Hive is different... and some of the coins that I have in my portfolio are different, and have a different meanings for me... The guy was jumping from one to another, and that's ok.. if that is what you want to do...

I look at some projects for the long term... and I said it a lot of times... I want to MAKE A CHANGE with my crypto journey... If I jump left-right, I will not do that... Actually, I was doing that 2-3 years ago... and didn't make a change...

I want to MAKE A CHANGE with my crypto journey

I think that hive has the potential to make a change because it's not about speculation but about creating value and there are plenty of ways to crate value.

Another big difference: With most other crypto we buy and sell. With Hive we create...

Very relevant topic for what's going on here in the States politically. Both sides want to be heard but not necessarily wanting the opposing side to speak their message.

Excellent message!

I think there are a few points we need to keep in mind.

First of all we need to realize that when we say something, it is not always just about what we say, but also how we say it.

The person who is listening, might also hear (and interpret) the message in a completely different way as to what the message was inteneded to be, due to current personal issues, experiences etc.

Often people are way to quick to want to voice their opinions as well and things are said out of ignorance due to a lack of knowledge on a certain topic.

As far as the topic of cryptocurrencies and making money is concerned, I totally agree with you. There is no guarentee of any growth if you just buy any currency and hold it. You need to manage any portfolio by at least watching the markets and actively trading when needed.

Here on the HIVE platform, you can maintain consistent growth by doing the work and being active. I have seen that in person with my own little experiment recently. Inspite of value and exchange rates fluctuating and going up and down, I consistently saw consistent growth over time - by doing certain actions.

Yes, freedom of speech is great and I'm all for it. But it can also be dangerous if you speak before you think...

Yes, freedom of speech is great and I'm all for it. But it can also be dangerous if you speak before you think...

Yes, it can be... But, we can't lose perspective in this... It can be dangerous for me, if I talk about something that I don't understand... But, still, as an adult responsible person, it is my fault if I do that... and I will pay the price for that...

I want to say, that because all that, it doesn't give rights to someone else to make me silenced, or to censorship my words... If I'm stupid, I will pay the price for that...

And cryptocurrency thing is just in a personal view... I like to look at the Hive as a long-term investment... Not just financially, but also as an investment in new interactions, relationships, and tons of knowledge that I get here from other people, through their blog posts, or comments like I do now in a discussion with you...

Thanks for taking time to comment on my post! Appreciate it!
