Are We Ready For Web 3.0? .:. #MyHiveGoals 2023

In my latest walk that I have published in my post, I did take a breath, but my mind didn't, and it was working on different topics... lol... Or it was more active because of the fresh air? 😃 In any case, one important thing came to my mind... Are we ready for Web 3.0? I know that the term Web 3.0 is overhyped and it is used for almost everything and most of the time it is used to camouflage Web 2.0 things into it...

I saw a post (or it was a comment?), but I forgot who was the author, where the conclusion was that most people don't even care if something is built on the principles of Web 3.0 at all... One of the problems is that nobody has the real definition of Web 3.0, and of course, neither do I, but I do have an opinion about it...

The Wikipedia says something like this:

Web3 (also known as Web 3.0) is an idea for a new iteration of the World Wide Web which incorporates concepts such as decentralization, blockchain technologies, and token-based economics.

It sounds so simple, but these concepts require a lot of other human characteristics that we have "lost in the process"... Decentralization sounds nice and many would like to see more of it (on paper), but when it comes to realization, we would like that someone else takes care about those "tricky" things... Why is that? Why do we always try to go back to the centralized solutions?

Responsibility. When you have a cryptocurrency wallet, you get your private keys which are the only way of using your wallet... You are responsible for keeping those keys in a safe place, nobody knows them except you... You are the person responsible for that! On HIVE, we can go one step further, as you are the only person who controls your keys, and you are the only person who can create content with your account... You are responsible for your content, you stay behind your words!

  • With banks, you don't need to think about that... just leave your money to them... they will care about it.

Accountability. Every act that you do on the blockchain is written and can't be deleted... You can't say that you didn't do something if you did, it is encoded in the blockchain... Which makes you accountable for your actions!

  • Before, nobody cared about you and your acts... you are lost in the jungle of average people.

Authenticity. You can fake your account, you can be something else on the blockchain, but your authenticity will be checked by your blockchain trace... This is very specific for HIVE, as people who aren't authentic fail to succeed here... Sooner or later, your mask will fall...

  • The Internet is a jungle and with Web 2.0 you can create as many as you want fake accounts and be whatever you want.

The question is... Are we ready to "accept" these things and act accordingly? Unfortunately, I don't think so... The Web 3.0 idea and the mindset are just a couple of years old, while completely opposite "values" have been promoted for decades and centuries... We are taught that we have to have a King or a leader that we choose to lead us, we are thought to be followers, and recently, we are taught that we have no idea about anything... The experts know everything better... It is impossible that we can accept Web 3.0 in such a short time and live by the "mindset" behind it...

But, it's not everything so dark and doomed... What we can do is to focus on the goal and try to do small steps toward the goal... There will be many dark clouds that will try to deviate us from the main road, but we have to keep the idea very clear and remind ourselves about it... If not, we will be caught in the same net as we were a lot of times, and lose our freedoms even more... Stay vigilant!

Let's go back to the #MyHiveGoals part as to have power in a decentralized world, you have to take your power back first! As usual, in the beginning, let's check out HiveStats...

Even though I'm not quite satisfied with my performance this week, I have created 5 posts which is a fair number for me... If I push more than that, I suppose that I wouldn't have time to do other things, like research, exchange valuable information with others, and work on my other projects...

In the last 7 days, I have accumulated 275 HivePower, which is less than the week before, but still in the "weekly margins" that I put to myself...

"Only" 1080HP more to get to the yearly goal! And HivePUD is coming!!!

Now, it's time to check my LEO Power goal which hurts to see... 🙂 I mean, the numbers go up, which is important, but they are not going up as I expected... I did accumulate and staked 111 LEO tokens during the last week and that's a nice result, but it's not enough to catch up with my weekly, monthly, and yearly goals...

I will not faint in spirit because of that, as what is important is the progress... and it's happening...

GAMING GOALS - Flexible Goals

I got 1 card more than usual in my Rising Star game goal!!! 😃 Instead of getting the standard 175 cards during the last 7 days, I have accumulated 1 more... 😃 The reason is the Halloween special mission where we can get the special instrument(s) cards... With the latest changes for Rankings calculations, the most important is to have as many as possible different NFTs in the game... So, I have bought one of these instruments, and I will probably buy the second one too during the next week...

As the STARBITS token is at an all-time low, I don't plan to sell them at all and I reinvest all back into the game... In the end, this is just a game and I'm not "obsessed" by the earning aspect of it... Less 1400 cards to my yearly goal!

We have news regarding the GLX tokens! The airdrop for the SPS stakers has finished and the "inflation" of the token has slowed down... This produced a small price bump after a long, long way down... The staking rewards will finish in 12 days and that could be another crucial moment in the "search for the bottom price"... But, all that is irrelevant if the game doesn't evolve and develop further... Fingers crossed!

During the last 7 days, I have accumulated 1900 GLX tokens in total, which is less than before, mostly because of the ending of the SPS airdrop...

It's time to update the numbers and put them into the spreadsheet until the next week! So, freshly updated numbers for #MyHIVEGoals, on October 29th, 2023 are:

Great work on your goals, you are nearly there. I think I knew and still know that I am ready for web3. Decentralisation is a great thing and I hope we can see more of it.

I get that not everyone is ready for it and wants it though. Maybe there will be greater adoption in the future.

Thanks!

Maybe there will be greater adoption in the future.

This depends on people who are working on it, who are actively promoting Web 3.0, showing what it is, how it works, and why it is important to nurture it! Shortly, it's on us... 😃

Some other things I like about it are that it is permissionless and immutable, not forgetting that it makes 2FA and other authentication redundant! Exciting times!

So nice, a little bit more to your yearly goal. I think you can achieve that pretty easily with the time remaining for this year.
so awesome my friend.

I don't really think we all are ready for it, especially in places where the internet is just starting to penetrate and is still a new thing. They are not even ready for web2, where every piece of information is so diluted just like what happening here in my place. It might take time, but one day when web3 starts to be commonly used, they will adopt it with slight difficulties in the beginning.

It will definitely take time to reach the goal... If we get there at all... But, even if we accept a small percentage of all the benefits of Web 3.0, it would mean a huge step for humanity... I really do believe that we are at the biggest crossroads and we have the tools to pick the right way...

I don't know if we are ready for Web 3 in every sense, at least I am sure that not all of us are. Especially in terms of mindset.

You're about to reach your Hive goals, my friend. There are 2 months to go and I am sure you will easily complete 1000 HP in these two months. I think you will reach your goal in November with a Power Up on the first day of the month.

Yeah... Web 3.0 isn't just the next tech level, it is a mindset that is the most important!

Web 3.0 is not new, but do every educated person knows about it, if you ask someone randomly, it will say "You mean a new browser." and similar answers. We still teach kids what is a computer when they know more about devices, computer times are over, they are pocket-sized, similarly Web3 needs to be in general syllabus to new generation know about new techs.

BTW, how will you reach your LEO goal?

To be honest, I'm not sure that I will reach my LEO goal... When I set the goal up, the curation rewards with LEO stake were giving much higher APR than it is now at the moment... I suppose that happened as they have minted a lot of tokens in the first part of this year...

All that + my laziness to create more finance posts led me to the point that I will maybe fail to reach that goal...

Web 3 is different then web 2, web 3 is very transparent too everyone can see our actions too, there's no secret on what we do, no one care about what we do but sometimes some care about us too 😀

Transparency is indeed one of the important things that Web 3.0 brought... But, the Web 3.0 pros go way over that as they implicate certain changes in our behavior that should bring a lot of benefits... We will see if we can accept and embrace the changes...

Yes it's bring a lot of changes and it's all depend on us how we take and accept this change 😀

There is a lot of talk about decentralization and I agree that it's tough. A lot of crypto isn't decentralized and web3 is still pretty far away.

Nice progress on your goals

There is a lot of talk about decentralization and every1 would like to see someone "else" doing it... But, when it's our turn to give back the power to others, we wiggle and try to find "better solutions" 😃

Congratulations, you are almost at your annual goal.
If we are prepared? I think most don't, but some do and that's the important thing. Because in the end what is better and more useful prevails.

You are right about that! It's important that SOME are prepared and if they lead, they should pull the others in a better direction... Now, we should work on converting that "THEY" into "US"...

There is no doubt that Web3 is better than Web2. There cannot even be a comparison. The transparency here is very important

Since it is 1080 hive power left to hit the goal, I strongly believe you will do it before the year ends. I am planning hitting 2,000 hive power also

Good job with 2K HivePower! Having goals helps a lot in keeping the focus!

When you put it that way, then it seems like the transition is still not possible because the general public is very accustomed to traditional convenience. Of course, to me and you, web3 solutions are far more convenient. But it is because we have had the opportunity to switch our mentality.
It surely is gonna take time.

Big corp has to find a way for them to make profit before web3 goes public 😆

I'm not afraid of them... Just look at how they talk about Bitcoin now that they will be able to monetize it with the ETF... :) For them, it's not a mindset, it's just profits...

I think most people aren't ready for what Web 3 should be (you described it), and why we see rapid devolving of the crypto and Web 3 options until they go back to the level of comfort of the masses, used to Web 2 and banks, with delegated responsibility and no or little accountability and authenticity.

You described what I'm afraid that it will lead to... We will lose our focus and they will transform wine back to water... But, let's try to stay positive and work on moving the focus toward the real values of Web 3.0

Let's hope we will still have some islands of real Web 3 values, like/besides Hive.

Just like that the time of web 3 is going to bring again the gaming industry will also grow again and those who are currently wasting their time on other platforms should definitely go on such platforms.
