Living A Life That Inspires Others - Week #196

Being an inspiration to others is something I value so much and am intentional about. By definition, inspiration is the process of being mentally stimulated to do or feel something, especially to do something creative.

For me, I like to stimulate people to become better than they currently are, and this starts with being intentional with my life, how I look, how I dress, how I speak, my actions, and my reactions, amongst others.

Whether we admit it or not, many people look up to us as mentors, and they draw inspiration from us. This inspiration becomes a model for them to pattern their lives after.

However, it seems that I like being an inspiration to people. It provides me with a platform to model people's lives, characters, mindsets, and ideologies. Being an inspiration helps me instill in people the right values, and this in itself gives me some sense of accomplishment.

I have a few kids in my Bible club that I mentor every Saturday, and I am glad I have the privilege to get to talk to them at this tender age. I am given the opportunity to shape their future success and well-being. In the past few months I have spent with them, I have seen the timid ones amongst them build their confidence and self-esteem, and this was only achievable by providing them with encouragement, praise, a listening ear, empathy, and emotional support, helping them navigate some challenges they face both at home and in school.

I have often heard some of the children say, "I like the way you speak and behave, ma, and I want to be like you.

If there is one thing I like about being an inspiration to people, it is that it keeps you in check and makes you conscious of what you do, say, or behave. This can seem tough initially, as it puts pressure on you to be upright morally, character-wise, speech-wise, and otherwise.
