creative non fiction- a taste of their own medicine

(Edited)

I have always tried to be kind towards my colleagues. I try to see kindness everywehere even at the most unkind places. I am currently teaching at an academy in my own town. The senior teachers always treated me with a rude behavior. They assigned me with extra work of the management of the academy. I was really over-burdened with their tasks. I really could not manage this and my students were not improving either.

To make things worse, they never acknowledged my efforts. I kept thinking that someday they would treat me equally. I was wrong, their rude behavior never seemed to end. They treated me as the 'other'.

I was totally discouraged, but I needed this job for myself. I have always been honest to whatever I do. This is not to brag, but this honesty and dedication is a qaulity that I like about myself. I believe that we always should be kind and honest no matter what. However, in certain cases, we have to go against the tide. I think that there are some people who would never change unless they get the taste of their own medicine.

My friend Khadija told me to try this method with the teachers. I had respect for them because of their seniority, but she was right.

This is my picture

They used to assign me tasks on the premise that they were seniors and that they had a class to attend to or they had something personal to look after.

After that advice from Khadija, I started to be firm in my behavior. The senior teachers could visibly see the resilience in my attitude. They could see that I was more firm and determined. One thing about them that made me accept their tasks was that they used to assign me publicly. They used flattery and flowery language about me in front of others so that their request seemed more polite.

I used this method against them. Whenever a student asked a question, a triky one, I used to refer them to the senior teachers, quite a lot of them. Moreover, I used to praise them to the extent that the student would wanted extra classes for them until one day a senior teacher named Aijaz came to me and said stop doing this, we are being overburdened now. I politely replied, "This is what you have been doing to me for last 5 months now, I had been so soaked in your tasks and classes that I could not pay attention on my own progress and learning. I am sorry, but this is not personal."

From that very day, the senior teachers seemed to be very polite towards me. They also acknowledged my efforts in being a credible teacher. It reduced my burden too. Things are working smoothly as of now and I hope to continue teaching here if things continue this way.

I would like to thank you everyone. I saw your comments on my previous blog. I do not have enough Hive Power or RC for that matter, this is why I could not respond to @inkwell, @ukrajpoot and @abigail04 . Is there any method through which I can get some HP delegation? I want to contribute here and sharpen my writing expression.

Hahahahahahah tit for tat ….don’t mind but this was literally hilarious. Khadija is an intelligent girl. She contrived a better way to pay back them with same coins.
I hope they will not be bothering u now

Hello @noorkh, welcome to the community and to Hive

You did great standing firm on your decision to say no. People who constantly say yes to their colleagus always get them used if they don't find a way to draw the line.

Thank God for your friend who helped you see the light and the teachers started to respect you too.

About your HP, I'll lend a few HP to you to make your journey less difficult.
