This piece is absolutely beautiful and painted directly onto the cinder block wall.

Another favourite. The detail on the cat is amazing and blossoms are just sublime.

The entrance to the shrine and as close to a temple as this post is going to get!

It's NOT a temple post OK? It's a shrine and the small soi leading up to it is adorned with the most beautiful artworks which are the subject of the post.

The Hainan Shrine sits quietly on the edge of Nathorn, the administrative centre and main port of Koh Samui. Most travellers just jump off the boats and rush off to their livelier and more fun parts of the island but in doing so, miss some beautiful and traditional treasures of Thai life and culture.

Built in 1862 the little temple was built by settlers from Hainan, China, who were on Samui, carving out their new businesses on this lightly inhabited corner of paradise.

It was as I called in at the bank that I noticed the art work on the side street that brightened up a slightly dreary driveway and I was immediately taken by the first piece. The detail, colours and life-like expressions of the girl totally bowled me over, and trust me, I'm definitely not an art fan but sometimes you see a work and it instantly imprints itself into your brain.

Although there is a mention of a Facebook page, wall art Asia. I can't find it and further googling has failed to discover the artist so I'll just leave you to enjoy the amazing art and admire the skill and patience that went into creating it.

Thank for dropping by and I hope everyone has a healthy and happy weekend.

This been another @nathen007 temple-free post......just ;-)

I don't see a signature anywhere on any of the pieces, am I missing it? There's usually a Twitter handle or email or something.

Where is it?

Just one picture that I didn't post said FB Wall Art Asia but when insearched, I couldn't find either a group nor user with that name.and like you said, no twitter, IG or signature.

The art was genuinely beautiful and I'm guessing done not so long ago but sad I can't find the artist.

It also made me think of your cinder block in the lake! I love connections :-)

L o L

That was beautiful and hilarious.

Here's one, is it against the law there? I mean, I know it's probably "illegal" in most places but is it possible repercussions are too much to risk signing the work or, no, not at all?

Now I wanna know, sir.

Its odd because I find pieces that Id guess have permission to be there are rarely signed but general graffiti artists always tag their work.

On Koh Samui, we also have commissioned pieces by local Thai and international artists which I need to go and photograph but there is real street art all over.

I thought this next pic was signed...

But then same artist (possibly) and different tag...

Graffiti is illegal without permission but when its good, its admired and I doubt the police would be bothered! As long as its not anti monarchy at all in which case theyd be hunted till the end of the earth and banged up for a 6 stretch under the archaic lese majeste laws.

I will try and find out more next week :-)

Ahhh that last piece is signed!

Jack or whoever is fucking awesome! Dang dude, now I got another request if it's not too much to ask but if you see their work around I'm interested if it's always a profound whale.

Please do. You don't think it's just a culture thing, do you, and announcing who they are isn't cool? Nah..

Oh they are pretty cool @nathen007 😎
Great finds.
I like the simplicity of the fireworks hanging on the branch with a few blossoms.
Have an awesome weekend 👋🏻😊

I love the first photo too. It's extra realistic. Maybe it's because it's more of a close up than the others?

It is mate but its still a huge piece. The rectangles you can see are cinder blocks (breeze blocks) and for such a rough surface, the artist did so well to incorporate so much detail.

You're a community leader in @neoxian city, aren't you @depressedfuckup?

Just that I got a load of ecency points you can have to spread about and use yourself if you want them? I got about 5k so say the word and they're yours fella :-)

Ahh not exactly, but yes, I have an important role in the community.

5k ecency points is a lot, man! I’d really appreciate it. I’ll use it to fund the next neoxian city game I’ll be organizing (in two weeks). Thanks a lot, man!

I only hope you didn’t win them playing card with your MIL again. Hehe

I’m just learning about cinder blocks now, so I don’t think I can fully grasp how great the artist did there. The art is obviously stunning though.

Those are certain masterpieces and possess an astonishing level of detail, so realistic and captivating as well as elegant style :)

how our eyes see in three dimension in this pic, very talented art. :)

I'm definitely not an art fan

Nah, you have good eyes of art :) great captures :)

You're right and especially clever because the wall has an outer protruding frame too. There is something so serene about this style of Chinese art.

Hope those Aussies are still treating you well and you're surviving the winter down under!

I can see why you were taken by the first one!

The kitten on the branch is well cool.

It certainly brightens up cinder blocks.
