TTT - Part Of The Weekend Never Dies

Hello Hive Music Lovers!,

Welcome to another #threetunetuesday created originally by @ablaze.

I like to share some music that I am listening to each week and today I share some not so well known tunes. However, if you like drums and you like synth, then you might like Soulwax.

The 3 tunes today are featured in the Part of the Weekend Never Dies film that the band recorded and I will share with you today.

Before the first tune, to give you a really good idea what the band are about, which is great drums, synth and flashing lights, you may want to check out this tune of theirs, Is It Always Binary.

This isn't one of my 3 tunes, but here you can see the rig they are using which is also pretty huge along with the drums and synth.

I stumbled firstly across Soulwax from one of their remixes that I will share later, that are just pretty epic. I have listened to them on the radio but sadly not seen them live. There is a fantastic documentary called Part of the Weekend Never Dies which they filmed and is on their youtube channel.

In it, someone mentioned that DJs could be the most overpayed simplistic job on the planet. I would sort of agree, I wonder what they are actually doing when on the stage, just playing with the knobs? Therefore I look for performances where they actually play everything live and not pre-recorded loops.

However, to be a successful DJ is not easy and there is lots of competition. Even if you don't care about dance music, these guys have made it totally interesting and put on a great show.

Accidents and Compliments is one of their top tracks from the album Nite versions. On youtube you can also see the whole album live at Fabric which is worth a watch.

Soulwax - Accidents And Compliments (Nite Version)

The next tune is one of my favorite live electronic music performances and it starts leading into it from Accidents and Compliments before fading out to the 3rd selection of today.

Soulwax are a Belgium band and I really love this live electronic music with awesome build ups and use of drums and synth. Of course, the highlight of the song is the Robot Rock synth from 4:50 onwards.

Robot Rock is a cover version of the famous Daft Punk but they have made a totally new and awesome song of it.

Soulwax - Robot Rock (Live @ Summer Sonic '09)

Of course the Robot Rock tune leads on to our final tune and is the awesome cover of Phantom Part II which was originally by Justice. Justice are another awesome French dance duo who deserve their own #ttt post.

The first 3 minutes are again Robot Rock which leads into this great 3rd tune for today. Something about adding the drums and synth turns these tunes into an amazing sound. What the guys also did as you will notice at 5:50, is to stop playing as though the show was over and turn off the lights.

You can hear the crowd screaming and clapping, thinking the show was over, but then the music starts again and they rock on! I think the live performance, although handcam type work, is still better to listen to than the audio version. The songs seem to play well altogether.

Soulwax - Robot Rock into Phantom Part II - Live

That wraps up my #ttt for this week. Have a great musical rest of the day this Tuesday, thanks for listening and what have you been listening to?

For those unfamiliar with TTT or Three Tune Tuesday.... to quote @ablaze :

The jist is as follows
Every Tuesday I'm going to share 3 songs which I like to listen to and I invite your feedback in the comments below. Better still, why not have a blast of your own Three Tune Tuesday and mention me in the post and I'll come and find the post and upvote it. If you could also use #threetunetuesday tag that would be great, as that is what I use when sifting through all the entries every Wednesday. It'll be a sweet way for us all to discover new music. You'll also be in with a chance of winning the prize.

The name of the movie sounds like it could be the title of a James Bond film! I've never heard of these folks, but I will definitely check them out. I think it is interesting how big of a deal dance music is in that part of the world. That Northern Europe area I mean like Iceland, Netherlands, etc.

Wow, this is kind of new to me. I've never heard of this band before.

However, the third song is my favorite. I love the drum and bass playing in it.

I'm going to put it in my song list. 😎🎵

In videos lights are used in a very catchy manner. I am noticing that crowd in the third video is quite energetic. Their claps and scream is so high that we can guess that this Belgium band's electronic music has hype in people's mind.

You can't imagine the long conversations we have with the guys in the orchestra and the choir about the DJs hahahaha, but I'm one of the few that supports them, I feel that they still have the talent and musical conditions to make so many fusions, but we also know that many non-musical people could assume that role, yes, you are very right when you say that being a successful DJ is not easy, that's why there are few really popular ones, but those few represent their genre very well.

I had no knowledge about Soulwax, just like the last time I read you, I have added new music to my playlist, I imagine listening to this on my way to work, this music makes me feel that I will have a good day, and although the first video you share is not of your three selections, it turns out that it was the one I liked the most, maybe because I arrived first and the impression, especially of the great drums and synthesizer. I didn't like the official youtube channel so much, I think I'll keep looking for their best music on random channels like you did...

I think it is one of the oldest discussions, are you a musician if you cannot play a musical instrument? However I do wonder what the DJs are doing when stood on a stage and people are in front of them, there is not real performance or show like with a band.

I like Soulwax as the mix dance music with playing instruments and making a good show. Thanks for checking it out.

You're right bro, they just stand there in front of people hahaha. Beyond the mixing they can do, the best thing for them is to put on a show with a lot of decorations. I hope people go to these events to dance and not to see the artist 🤣

I am surprised when people try to then record it on their phones instead of enjoying the experience 😅

DJs being overpaid for playing with knobs—sounds like my kind of job! But then again, I can barely handle volume control without causing a neighborhood blackout.
