My Scrobbles from 10 years ago! Jan 2014

Hello Hive Music Lovers!,

Welcome to another #threetunetuesday created originally by @ablaze.

Today I was looking back and thinking, what was I listening to 10 years ago? How could I find this information out? Luckily for me, I stumbled upon scrobbling from Last.Fm and thought it would be a great idea to track the different tunes that I have listened to as it is always great to go back and check what you liked in the past.

I decided to drill down my library to January 2014 and see what were my top tunes that I was listening to at the time. Of course, it didn't catch all the plays and on all devices, but there were 126 scrobbles captured, mostly just from youtube by the looks of it.

The first thing I noticed was that I had played a few tracks from the film Lock Stock and 2 Smoking Barrels. I love this film and it has a really great soundtrack. I generally try to watch all of Guy Ritchie's movies and I know he has something recent out that I haven't watched yet which is cool.

The first tune is from Stretch and a great tune from the movie. Do you remember which scene?

Stretch - Why Did You Do It?

The second tune was a surprise and is the rapper Eminem and Rihanna with their collaboration - The Monster. I haven't really enjoyed listening to any Eminem tunes since my teenage years.

It is an ok pop tune with Rihanna but nothing special I think. With just 6 scrobbles, it was the 2nd most scrobbled tune for me back in January 2014!

Eminem & Rihanna - The Monster

The final tune is a great tune from Amy Macdonald. I haven't heard many tunes from her recently.

I think this isn't as popular as her main hit This Is The Life which has the most views on youtube.

With just 7 scrobbles, Amy takes the top spot in January 2014 of my most scrobbled tunes. I wish that I had setup scrobbling more detailed now, as it is great to look back at what you were listening to and also get some inspiration for new tunes.

With Last.FM you can see the days you were listening to tunes and get some great info about your listening habits. I was quite new to Last.FM back then, but am glad I set it up, even though its not so great to track everything you listen to.

Recently I noticed my scrobbler had been offline for over a year, so re set it up again on youtube and spotify so I can at least get some good data on my music trends again in 10 years time.

Just in the last week or so I have had 280 scrobbles and growing! Do you track your music listened to? What I like about LastFM is that it also gives you recommendations, based on your tastes and helps you discover some new tunes. I guess they all do that these days though.

That wraps up my #ttt for this week. I hope you are having a great musical Tuesday. Whats your favorite tune and what are you listening to this week?

For those unfamiliar with TTT or Three Tune Tuesday.... to quote @ablaze :

The jist is as follows
Every Tuesday I'm going to share 3 songs which I like to listen to and I invite your feedback in the comments below. Better still, why not have a blast of your own Three Tune Tuesday and mention me in the post and I'll come and find the post and upvote it. If you could also use #threetunetuesday tag that would be great, as that is what I use when sifting through all the entries every Wednesday. It'll be a sweet way for us all to discover new music. You'll also be in with a chance of winning the prize.

Be sure to head over and give @ablaze some support as without his great work, we wouldn't have a #ttt.

I don't track my music which I listen to instead Spotify keeps a data of it and reminds me every new year about how much and what I listened to.

Plus I liked that slow it down

Spotify is really good at that these days. I also use it and last.fm together. Slow it down is a catchy tune! lol

Song number two is indeed eight years old. But when I heard it, I felt like it was from the present era. But the melody of this song was soothing to me ❤️

I am glad you liked the tune, it is a classic one from Eminem! Less hard core rap than his usual fayre!

Yes, it is a great tool and good to see what you were listening to the most at different periods. These tracks dont make my top tunes of all time, but I do like the first one alot.

But why didn't it make your top 10? The songs are actually okay.

I've never listened to anything on Last.FM. What do I know, I've been more focused on YT, Spotify, Bandcamp, and Soundcloud. Everywhere they have some kind of stats of what you're listening to.

I do like all of those too. I only use LastFM for tracking things really and recommendations! Happy #threetunetuesday

But it tracks only the music you listen to at Last.FM, or everything you listen to online?

It tracks most players. Spotify, YouTube, windows..

That's good then. Do you need to setup something there to track, I mean for each site/player or not?

Yes, you link Spotify and install scribbler on your computer/browser and it monitors what you play. 👍

Very interesting. This kind of reminds me of my year in review from Spotify that I was given at the end of the year. Like me it seems your tastes are all over the place. I can really respect that :)

I am pretty open to most music. I didn't check the Spotify top tracks as I am using a few apps to listen. Although YouTube has got very buggy lately , so could be good to switch to others.

My wife and I were talking about YouTube for music the other day and she couldn't believe that people actually use it to listen to music.

Not my cup of tea, probably, except of the song by Macdonald - thats a good one! full of passion and dark drama. (also, curious landscapes with olive trees - would love to have a walk over those valleys). !DHEDGE and !PIZZA
ps. I stopped using #lastfm more than a decade ago (it’s a pity that at some point they wanted to put their project on a commercial footing - before this happened, it was an interesting place and one of the most important Internet services for me, and then my heart quickly grew cold...)
But still, one may check my #lastfm library for some 2000es statistics.

That was a big shame when last.fm changed like you said to profit taking, it became not such a great place to hang out. I kept up the scrobbling though.
Thanks, will check out you library!

We believed in the beginning that the Internet was a place... a good shiny new place for a new life. But the power of money gradually made it the same as the old world. Of course, there are many folks who put their efforts non-stop to make the digital noosphere a better place - but... there are too many “buts”.

Very true, everything was much more different before smart phones made the internet and computing mainstream. The ideals were different and everything was envisaged for free.

The second song by Eminem and Rihanna is quiet familiar, I think I listened to it a dozen of times when it came out. The last song by Amy Macdonald is my favorite though :)

Amy is pretty great and has some nice tunes. I remember I liked the Eminem tune at the time, but am not so keen anymore.

Some good picks, not a Eminem fan and never have been, but the other two were good! Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels was a really good movie. Guy Ritchie has been making some really good movies over the last few years. I guess marrying Madonna really got his career started!

Im not keen on Eminem either, very yelly and angry with no depth. But Lock Stock, its still one of my favorite films. I was surprised that they broke up, but im sure it did give him a boost!
